Before she could even pause for a few seconds, she heard her youngest son, Zhao Yaozu, shouting at the top of his lungs from inside the house.
"I don't want this! I want eggs! Eggs!"
Qiu Chunfang threw down the broom in her hand with a "thud" and quickly ran into the house, pushing away Er Meng and San Meng, who were coaxing Zhao Yaozu.
With a beaming smile, she coaxed him.
"Oh, my little darling, what's wrong with you now? We're out of eggs. After you killed that old hen, we ran out of eggs. We have to go out and buy some, and they're a dollar a pound. We can't have them every day..."
Zhao Yaozu was spoiled rotten at home and wouldn't listen to her explanations. He pushed the sesame seed cake on the table to the ground, sat down on the floor, and started wailing loudly.

After saying that, she shouted at the top of her lungs inside the house.
"Yimeng, Yimeng, come and watch your younger siblings. Mom is going out for a bit!"
After calling for a while without any response, Qiu Chunfang frowned and asked impatiently, "Where is she?"
Er Meng was picking at the fallen sesame cakes on the ground, not caring about the dirt, stuffing them into her mouth and eating them while gesturing with her chin, saying indistinctly, "Big sister is... she's reciting her lessons in the backyard!"

Qiu Chunfang scolded her a couple of times and stormed off to the backyard. Sure enough, she saw the thin and small Zhao Yimeng holding a Chinese textbook, raising her little fist, and memorizing it with great concentration.
