Chapter 176 Remittance Slip

"You could hear the cooking noises, and you still don't come out to eat? Do you expect me to bring the dishes to your bed?"

Xu Shu was eating noodles, too lazy to even lift his head. "Are you upset again? What's wrong?"

His tone was as indifferent as plain water, showing no concern whatsoever, which only fueled Lin Yao's anger.

"Don't you know why?"

She rushed forward two steps and pointed at Xu Shu's nose.

"When you saw Zhou Qiqi this afternoon, your eyes were practically glued to her! You were staring at her like that, as if I were blind! What exactly do you mean by that?!"

"No, you're mistaken..."

Xu Shu casually offered a defense, but before he could finish speaking, Lin Yao could no longer contain her anger and swept the aluminum lunchbox from his hand.

The metal lunchbox crashed to the ground with a bang, splashing noodles and soup all over the floor, even getting a few drops of oil on Xu Zao's cloth shoes.

"How could I possibly be mistaken!"

Lin Yao's voice suddenly rose, her eyes reddened, and she couldn't stop feeling wronged.

"We've only been married a few days, and you've already changed! You weren't like this before..."

"Are you ever going to stop?! You can't even let a person eat in peace!"

Xu Shu also got angry, slammed his hand on the table, pointed to the long bench in the room, on which were piled several pieces of Lin Yao's clothes.

"You know you're married, huh? You don't cook, you don't clean, you don't wash clothes! I haven't even settled accounts with you yet, and you're always looking for trouble!"

Xu Shu took a deep breath, glanced at Xu Zao who was picking at her fingers with her head down, and his tone became serious, with a hint of reprimand.

"Also, before Mom and Dad left, they specifically told you to keep an eye out for someone to introduce to Zao'er. You readily agreed, but several days have passed and there's still no sign of anyone! You don't care at all!"

He grew angrier as he spoke, pointing in Xu Zao's direction.

"Zao'er massages your shoulders and back every day, and even pours you water to wash your feet at night. Is this how you treat her?"

"And your brother too!"

Xu Shu suddenly raised his voice, and the veins on his forehead bulged.

"You promised to give me a thousand yuan! It's been days, and I haven't heard a thing!!"

As he spoke, he slammed his chopsticks on the table, stood up, turned around, lifted the curtain, went into the inner room, and slammed the door shut with a bang.

Lin Yao was stunned by his series of actions; this was the first time Xu Shu had ever been so angry with her.

She stood there, tears finally streaming down her face, burning hot as they hit the back of her hand. She felt angry and aggrieved, her throat felt like it was blocked by something, and she couldn't even cry out.

At this moment, Xu Zao quietly moved over and gently tugged at Lin Yao's clothes with her small hand.

"Sister-in-law, don't blame my brother, you were wrong to do this."

Her voice was soft and gentle, with a timid, ingratiating tone, "We're all family, he's just worried."

Xu Zao helped Lin Yao sit on the bench, then squatted down in front of her, gently patting her back with her small hand.

“If the money isn’t in place, his business won’t get off the ground, and he’s also worried that my sister won’t find a good husband…”

While massaging Lin Yao's shoulders, she kept saying nice things to her, and finally brought over her untouched bowl of noodles and carefully handed it to Lin Yao.

"Sister-in-law, have something to eat. I can tell you didn't eat much at noon."

Lin Yao looked at the steaming noodles in the bowl, sniffed, and ate silently without saying a word.

After eating a bowl of noodles, she went to the telephone room.

The next afternoon, I took my things and went to find Xu Shu.

He didn't go back to Lin Yao's dorm room last night, but made do in the storage room next door where things were piled up. His back was aching, and he was catching up on sleep in bed.

The moment he opened his eyes and saw Lin Yao, his anger, which he had just suppressed, flared up again. He turned over and faced away from her, not even bothering to say a word.

Lin Yao seemed oblivious to his coldness, and with a slightly ingratiating smile on her face, she leaned forward and handed him the piece of paper she was holding.

"Brother Xu Shu, look what this is."

Xu Shu initially stubbornly ignored it, but when he caught a glimpse of the red post office stamp on the corner of the paper, his eyes widened and he sat up abruptly from the bed.

"Remittance slip?"

He snatched it away, "Yaoyao, did your brother send the money?"

Lin Yao nodded, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"Yes! I called last night and asked. My brother will transfer the money when he gets home. It just takes a few days to get here!"

Xu Shu jumped up happily, examining the remittance slip from side to side.

Lin Yan had previously said he couldn't come up with a thousand yuan at once, and he thought the amount would be much less, but this remittance slip actually showed eight hundred yuan.

This was a huge sum of money; Xu Shu had never seen so much money in his life, and his eyes lit up immediately.

Remembering what happened last night, he quickly put down the remittance slip, pulled Lin Yao into his arms, and held her tightly.

"I misunderstood you! Yao Yao! I apologize, you're not angry, are you?"

Lin Yao deliberately pouted and turned her face to the side, clearly still angry.

"Yaoyao, I was wrong..."

Xu Shu quickly leaned over and kissed her.

At first, Lin Yao kept a straight face and her shoulders were ramrod straight, but after a while, she gradually leaned into Xu Shu's arms.

Five minutes later.

Xu Shu lay panting on the bed, his chest still heaving, his face flushed with satisfaction, his eyes half-closed, and a smile still lingering on his lips.

Lin Yao snuggled closer to him, tracing circles on his chest with her fingers, and muttered with a hint of dissatisfaction.
