Finally, the song came to an end.
The actors froze, and the lights dimmed.
After a brief silence, the small auditorium erupted in enthusiastic applause, more sincere and longer than any of the previous performances.
The lights came on, and people started talking amongst themselves. Many older viewers were even secretly wiping away tears.
Seeing that her mother was still emotional, Lei Yuhua helped her to her feet.
"Mom, please sit down here for a while and catch your breath. I'm going backstage to check on Director Zhuo and the others, and while I'm at it..."
Her eyes sparkled. "Get to know that female designer!"
She was very excited and couldn't wait to talk to that talented and capable woman.
Lei Yuhua walked briskly through the crowd and headed straight for the backstage area.
The backstage door was open, and figures moved around inside, the air thick with the smells of sweat, paint, and the excitement of just coming off the field.
She spotted the beige figure at a glance!
She was surrounded by several actors who had just come off stage. Her head was slightly lowered, her profile was soft and focused, and her fingers were gently twirling the red ribbon around the hem of one of the actors' skirts, as if she were giving him instructions. Her demeanor was composed and very professional.
The dim backstage lighting shone on her, as if coating her with a soft glow, making her shine.
Lei Yuhua felt a surge of excitement and almost ran over, about to call out.
Just then, a dancer nearby excitedly shouted, "Comrade Zhou Qiqi!"
Lei Yuhua's smile froze abruptly, her eyes widening in disbelief as she stared at the "designer" who had just turned around and looked up at the sound.
The off-white wool coat accentuated her fair skin and defined features.
It was Zhou Qiqi, whom she had recently disdainfully called a "parasite" and a "fox borrowing the tiger's power"!
