"Commander?"
The train police officers looked at each other, all with shocked expressions.
After all, Shen Huaichuan looked to be only about twenty-five or twenty-six years old.
So young, and he's already a regimental commander?
"Of course, it's the real deal!"
Qin Shi, the orderly, patted his chest with a proud look on his face.
"Our regimental commander has received several first-class merit awards! He completed this mission so brilliantly, getting another second-class merit award shouldn't be a problem..."
"Stone!"
Shen Huaichuan kicked Qin Shi, his dark pupils filled with frost.
Qin Shi scratched his head, his neck constricted.
Shen Huaichuan turned around and gave the train police officers a standard military salute, then kicked the thief who was tied up like a dumpling on the ground with his leather boots.
"Comrade, this is the last thief. We'll leave it to you. We have other tasks to complete, so we'll be going now."
He spoke very politely, but his voice sounded like it was filled with ice.
Before the train police could respond, he picked up his backpack from the back of the seat and was about to leave, as if his act of apprehending the thief had nothing to do with him.
The train police officers admired this agile soldier and wanted to say more to him, but they were too embarrassed to say anything more than thank you.
Shen Huaichuan suddenly remembered the handkerchief in his hand, frowned, and handed it over with a look of disgust.
"Oh, right, there's also this lost item. Please make sure to return it to its owner."
The train police captain took the handkerchief, thought for a moment, and then spoke.
“I remember it was lost by the woman in carriage 3, seat 156C. She didn’t leave a phone number or address, probably because she thought she couldn’t find it and just gave up on it.”
Shen Huaichuan stared at the "poop" peeking out from under the handkerchief, his Adam's apple bobbing. Just as he was about to speak, a cheerful voice suddenly broke in—young train policeman Lei Ming, clutching a note, squeezed forward, his eyes gleaming, and said:
“I just passed by carriage 3 and saw a piece of sleeve hanging down from under 156C, along with a note. It should belong to that woman. It has an address and phone number on it. It's in the Haiziwan Military Region Family Compound in G City, where my uncle lives! Give it to me, I'll try to contact her. Maybe I can get in touch with her!”
The other team members rarely saw Lei Ming so enthusiastic, and joked about it.
"Hey, when did Young Master Lei become so enthusiastic? Could it be that you've taken a liking to that woman? When they were arguing in the carriage earlier, your eyes were practically glued to her..."
"hey-hey..."
Lei Ming scratched his head, not denying it.
He had seen the whole argument between the girl and the older woman. The girl was clever and eloquent, as lively as a lark, and immediately captivated him.
He had lived for twenty-two years and this was the first time he had ever felt his heart flutter. Perhaps this was love at first sight?
Amidst the teasing laughter of the crowd, Lei Ming blushed and was about to put the note in his pocket when he suddenly felt his fingers go empty.
It was none other than Commander Shen, who had been in a hurry to leave earlier.
Lei Ming's expression immediately changed. "Comrade Shen, why are you stealing things?"
Stone stared at the note, looking bewildered. "Commander, isn't this your handwriting?"
Shen Huaichuan did not answer. His face was sullen, and his knuckles turned white as he gripped the note. He looked up at Lei Ming.
"Excuse me, comrade, I'll return this."
His gaze was cold, like a quenched blade. Lei Ming subconsciously took a half step back, a little scared.
But the thought of the girl he fell in love with at first sight gave him the courage to persevere.
"Isn't this a bit inappropriate, Commander Shen? This is our job as train police officers. How can we entrust it to you? We have regulations that stipulate that unless it's someone very close, otherwise..."
Before he could finish speaking, Shen Huaichuan had already put the note into his chest pocket and said coolly.
"She's my wife, does that count as being close to her?"
......
After arriving at the next stop, Shen Huaichuan got off the train.
After completing a mission, even if there are people to meet him, he will still escort the target back to the military region.
But this time was different. He got off the car early and handed over all the handover work to Shi Tou.
Qin Lei listened to everything.
Watching Shen Huaichuan walk quickly out of the platform in the twilight, his figure disappearing in an instant, he couldn't help but mutter to himself.
"The regimental commander has a wife? Who is she? When did this happen? How come I didn't know?"
Achoo!
Just as Zhou Qiqi was being nagged, she suddenly sneezed, looked at the dark road ahead, and wrinkled her nose in grievance.
She's so unlucky!
They actually lost the note with the address and phone number written on it!
After thinking about it, I guess it was probably knocked away by that aunt when we were arguing.
She was unfamiliar with the area and originally planned to find a public phone after getting off the bus and have someone from the military come and pick her up.
That's terrible, everything's ruined.
Fortunately, she had read the note twice and still vaguely remembered the address.
She asked for directions at the bus stop, took the bus in that direction until she reached the outskirts of the city, and then flagged down two oxcarts on the road, asking them to give her a ride.
But when she reached the last stretch of the road, she couldn't remember clearly. She wandered around on the road until it got dark.
The old men who drive oxcarts have all gone home.
She had no choice but to walk.
I walked for one or two hours straight, and my feet were completely numb.
Just when she thought there was no hope, a large cluster of houses finally appeared in front of her, with a big red five-pointed star at the entrance and the words "August 1st" written on it.
That's right, this is it!
Zhou Qiqi immediately perked up and rushed over to show Shen Huaichuan's identification to the sentry standing guard at the gate.
The sentry made a phone call and was told that Commander Chen was not in the area. He asked her to go to the military dependents' quarters and call someone over to pick her up.
