"What?"
After listening to Zhu Yingying's words, Zhou Qiqi raised her hand and lightly patted her forehead.
"You silly girl! You call yourself a top student? Where did all your education go?"
She was so angry with Zhu Yingying that she couldn't stand it anymore.
This silly girl had been married for over two years but couldn't conceive. She heard from someone that there was a country witch doctor who could cure it, so she eagerly went there, paid her thirty yuan, and went for treatment every week.
This so-called treatment was called "tying the baby." The old woman had a clay baby statue, about the size of a palm, which was tied tightly to the woman's wrist with several loops of red rope. She would kneel on a prayer mat, and then the woman would worship it while turning around in circles.
This blockage lasted at least an hour and a half.
Zhu Yingying has been there seven or eight times already, and today the rope was tied especially tightly, her wrists were so tight they turned purple.
While gently massaging her, Zhou Qiqi said with exasperation.
"These are all feudal superstitions. You've been there so many times, have you gotten pregnant? Or have you actually seen anyone tie a doll to her place and get pregnant?"
Zhu Yingying's eyes widened, and she shook her head.
"If you want to get pregnant but can't, you should go to a proper hospital for a checkup. Why are you humiliating yourself like this?"
Zhou Qiqi continued to persuade her, but Zhu Yingying timidly shook her head.
"I...I'm scared..."
In this day and age, a woman's inability to have children is a major issue.
Zhu Yingying's mother passed away early, and her mother-in-law lived in the countryside. She had no one to consult with, so it's understandable that she did something foolish.
Zhou Qiqi patted her head, "Don't be afraid, I'll go with you another day. You absolutely must never go to that sorceress's place again!"
She was glad she discovered it early. Her wrist was already purple from being tied to the doll. If she were to drink incense ash water or swallow tadpoles alive, her health would be ruined.
Zhu Yingying was already filled with regret, and now that Zhou Qiqi had pointed it out, her cheeks turned bright red, and she nodded repeatedly while holding Zhou Qiqi's hand.
After taking Zhu Yingying home, Zhou Qiqi quickly tidied up the kitchen and prepared to boil water for a bath.
Zhouzhou had an injury on her knee and couldn't get it wet, so after Zhou Qiqi washed herself, she filled a basin with warm water, carefully wiped the little girl's body with a towel, and then applied iodine.
When the dressing was changed, Zhouzhou's eyelashes didn't even tremble. Although her pale face was expressionless, her eyes were brighter than usual.
Zhou Qiqi felt this was a big step forward and didn't want to waste the opportunity.
After the lights were turned off, I hugged my blanket and lay down next to Zhouzhou, chatting with her casually.
“Your aunt knows you’ve been through terrible things. Those terrible things drew a lock and locked you inside.”
“But you are a very brave little girl. You can try to express yourself and break this lock.”
Zhouzhou's performance today truly exceeded her expectations, from bravely climbing out of the dark room to pushing two little boys into a mud puddle.
Later, he bravely stood up to help her prove her innocence.
Before, she only thought her little niece was well-behaved and sensible, but now, she has truly fallen in love with this little girl.
In the darkness, Zhouzhou's eyes shone brightly, like two scattered stars.
Zhou Qiqi leaned closer to her, her nose almost touching the little girl's nose.
"How about you try calling me 'Auntie'?"
Zhouzhou bit her lip and shrank back, twisting the corner of the blanket with her fingers, not knowing what to do.
Zhou Qiqi smiled and tapped her nose. "Just kidding!"
She knew the child had a problem in his heart, and she couldn't rush it; she could only take it slowly.
He then explained softly.
"What my aunt means is that you can draw more and express your joys and sorrows more, just like today."
Zhouzhou was silent for a moment, then nodded slightly, before turning her back to Zhou Qiqi, revealing only her narrow shoulders.
The little girl wasn't quite used to being so close to people.
Zhou Qiqi didn't force her; she was a little tired after so many things had happened today.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep within minutes.
But they didn't see that her breathing had calmed down.
The small, thin body beside her slowly turned around, looked at her sleeping face, stretched out a little finger, drew a simple outline, and then opened its little mouth twice.
The moonlight, as silent as she was, carried her heartfelt words to the breeze outside the window.
A gentle breeze blew through the osmanthus tree in the courtyard, seemingly passing on this little piece of gossip to the tree.
The osmanthus tree rustled, scattering osmanthus petals all over the ground.
Some of the osmanthus blossoms seemed to want to spread gossip, swaying gently in the breeze.
As it floated along, it was suddenly struck down by a chilling gust of air.
"Stop hitting me! Stop hitting me! I was wrong!"
The atmosphere in the home of Liao Aimin, the head of the security department, was unusually heavy.
Today's events were too embarrassing. Liao Aimin felt ashamed and started drinking heavily when he got home. When he got drunk, he picked up a stool and wanted to hit someone.
Before she even hit him, Li Hongjuan started yelling and screaming.
The two children, who had already gone to sleep, ran out when they heard Li Hongjuan's screams and pounced on her.
"Dad, don't hit Mom! It's our fault!"
Liao Aimin reeked of alcohol.
"Are you two blind? Is this your real mother?"
"You spendthrift woman! You embarrassed me in the military region first! Now you're embarrassing me at school!"
As he spoke, he picked up the teacup on the table, preparing to throw it at Li Hongjuan.
The two children clung tightly to Li Hongjuan, and Liao Aimin, unable to hit her, turned his anger towards the two children.
"And you two, explain yourself clearly what happened today!"
Liao Xiaofeng stammered and couldn't speak, but Liao Xiaolei was bold and spoke up directly.
