Chapter 116 The New Doctor

"Qiqi!"

One second Shen Huaichuan was still immersed in the intimacy of their lips touching, the next second he noticed that the woman in his arms went limp and collapsed into his arms.

Her eyes were tightly closed, and she didn't respond no matter how much I called her. Her forehead was covered in a fine layer of cold sweat, and her face was as white as paint on a wall.

Shen Huaichuan panicked, grabbed a vest from the bedside and haphazardly put it on. He hurriedly gave Zhou Zhou, who was drawing in the room, a few words of advice, then picked up Zhou Qiqi and rushed to the jeep, preparing to take her to the military hospital in the city as soon as possible.

It's past eight o'clock now, Qin Lei has already left, so he has to drive himself.

He wanted to put Zhou Qiqi in the back seat, but seeing her furrowed brows and listless appearance, showing no signs of waking up, he was afraid she would fall off while driving.

Just as I was thinking of asking Zhu Yingying and Commander Wang for help, I heard a loud voice shouting.

"Commander Shen, what's wrong? What happened?"

The person who came was Qiu Chunfang's husband, Zhao Yi. He let go of his son Zhao Yaozu's hand and ran over in a few quick steps.

"My wife has fainted, we need to get her to the military hospital right away!"

Shen Huaichuan's voice changed from anxiety.

Zhao Yi glanced at Zhou Qiqi's expression and hurriedly waved his hand.

"Don't go to the military hospital! It's far away, a half-hour drive. My wife just said that the logistics department is moving things to the military dependents' clinic because a new doctor has been assigned there! We can get there in two minutes!"

As he spoke, he reached out and snatched the car keys, saying, "I'll drive! You take care of the people!"

He turned and nudged his son, "Yaozu, you go home first!"

Zhao Yaozu clung tightly to his clothes, refusing to let go. "No way! You promised to play marbles with me! And nobody plays with me!"

"Get out of the way! Can't you see I'm busy?"

Zhao Yi was so anxious that he had no time to comfort the child and ran to the car without looking back.

Zhao Yaozu plopped down on the ground with a "thud" and started yelling at the top of his lungs: "Wah—"

Inside the house, Qiu Chunfang was washing clothes when she heard her son crying. She dropped the soap on the floor and rushed out, shaking the water off her hands.

When she ran to the door, all she saw was a trail of dust kicked up by the car's rear.

She quickly pulled Zhao Yaozu up, asking repeatedly, "What happened? Where did your dad go?"

Zhao Yaozu cried so hard he could barely breathe, sobbing and shouting, "Waaah... he ran off with that little vixen in the car!"

"What?!"

Qiu Chunfang knew immediately that the "little vixen" her son was referring to was Zhou Qiqi, and she grabbed Zhao Yaozu's arm and chased after her.

Zhao Yi stepped on the gas and parked the car outside the small bungalow in the southeast corner of the military dependents' area.

This row of bungalows served as a small clinic for family members to receive medical treatment.

Previously, there was a military doctor named Qu, an old doctor who came from the local area, and a nurse named Song on duty here.

Two months ago, Dr. Qu went on maternity leave, Nurse Song got married, and the old doctor broke his leg and retired, leaving the clinic empty.

Just as Qiu Chunfang had found out, two logistics soldiers were carrying a first-aid kit and busy tidying up the house.

Before the car had even come to a complete stop, a shrill female voice came from the innermost room.

"Are there rat droppings floating in this water?! My God, how can anyone live in a place like this? It's so small and dilapidated, it's no different from the countryside, and they call it a military area! No wonder nobody wants to come here!"

"And this thermos is so broken, how can anyone use it? Get me a new one right now!"

...

"Smack!"

The thermos flask fell to the ground, shards of glass scattered everywhere, some even splashing into the yard.

Zhao Yi parked the car and leaned out to look around.

"Commander Shen, there are broken glass shards on the ground. I'll go down and call for help. Please hold your wife carefully and get out of the car slowly while watching the road."

Shen Huaichuan was wiping the sweat from Zhou Qiqi's forehead. "Thank you for your help, Battalion Commander Zhao."

Zhao Yi waved his hand and smiled憨厚ly.

"Hey, we're all family. You've helped me so much before, what's this little thing? Besides, we're neighbors, we should get along well."

After saying that, he jumped out of the car and shouted at the top of his lungs into the car.

"Doctor, is the doctor here?! Someone has fainted! Come out and take a look!"

A muttering sound could be faintly heard coming from inside.

"Why are there so many things to do! I'm not going! I haven't even officially reported for duty yet! I have no obligation to treat people!"

Zhao Yi has sharp ears, and upon hearing this, he immediately flew into a rage, putting his hands on his hips and shouting inside.

"What obligations? Whether you report it or not, you have to see the patients when they come! That's an order! Get out here right now! Or I'll deal with you!"

After saying that, he kicked the poplar tree in the yard hard, and the leaves fell down with a rustling sound.

"What's so great about me? I'm not one of your soldiers! Soldiers are all vulgar!"

The woman inside rolled her eyes, not daring to speak loudly, but walked to the doorway and said reluctantly.

"Take the person to the examination room first, I'll be right there."

He was a military officer after all, and he looked so fierce; she knew she couldn't afford to offend him.

Zhao Yi quickly led the way, allowing Shen Huaichuan to carry Zhou Qiqi all the way to the clinic.

Director Lin from the logistics department had already had it cleaned up. The consultation room was spotless, had just been disinfected, and the white sheets were all newly changed, with a strong smell of disinfectant.

Shen Huaichuan carefully carried Zhou Qiqi to the hospital bed and gently wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Zhou Qiqi was still asleep. Her face was as white as a sheet of paper, and her eyelashes were fluttering. She looked like she was in great pain.

After waiting for two or three minutes, the doctor still hadn't arrived. Just as Zhao Yi was about to urge him, he heard an impatient voice coming from outside the white curtain.
