Zhou Qiqi took a deep breath and spoke slowly.
"Sister Mei has worked tirelessly to secure this business for you two. We've both seen her dedication. If it were anyone else, they definitely wouldn't be able to sell as well as she has! Don't let a little suspicion ruin this hard-won partnership, or the losses won't just be limited to Sister Mei."
Her words came from the bottom of her heart; she was speaking up for Zhao Damei and also considering Wang Dasao's family. Her eyes were full of sincerity.
Sister-in-law Wang nodded repeatedly, "I know, I know, don't worry."
Despite what Sister-in-law Wang said, Zhou Qiqi was still not entirely at ease.
Although Sister-in-law Wang looks capable, she doesn't actually hold any power. In her family, her mother-in-law is the head of the household, and Commander Wang listens to his own mother.
Granny Wang doesn't seem like someone easy to get along with; this matter is likely to take an unexpected turn.
After returning from Wang Dasao's house, Zhou Qiqi went home, only to find Deng Cuixiang and Zhu Yingying sitting in her living room drinking tea.
When Deng Cuixiang saw her return, she didn't get up, but instead gestured towards the cloth bag on the coffee table.
"Oh, you're back. I was thinking since all the men are gone, I invited you all to my house for lunch! We'll make dumplings! Also, Da Mei brought over so many hawthorns, we should share some."
The man went out, and the three women got together to make dumplings; this was the second time this had happened.
Zhou Qiqi's eyes darted around, and she smiled.
"I made dumplings at your house last time, so come to my house to make some today. I have a big piece of beef here. I was planning to stew it for Huaichuan to help him recover, but he's gone and won't have the chance. Zhouzhou and I can't eat it either, and it'll spoil in a couple more days. So let's make beef dumplings!"
The three women discussed it and all nodded.
After all, they are military wives. When their husbands are away for ten days or half a month and don't come back, they feel empty inside. Having someone to keep them company and something to do keeps them from overthinking.
They rolled up their sleeves and started washing vegetables and chopping meat, chatting and laughing as they left their worries behind.
