Then, with a deafening roar, another thunderclap struck, followed by an even larger flash of lightning.
Lu Zhixia instinctively clenched her fists; the thunder was so loud, it felt like it was right above her head.
Gu Lingxiao frowned. "I remember listening to the weather forecast, it was supposed to rain tomorrow, and it would be light to moderate rain, not heavy rain."
Lu Zhixia remembered that the other two people were still in the car, so she asked him in a low voice,
“It’s not safe to be in the car during thunder. Do you want to go and call them back?”
"No need, they'll be back. You can't stay in the car during thunderstorms; we've trained on that!"
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, hurried footsteps came from outside, and then Ma Chao and Xiao Zhang entered the room.
Ma Chao wiped the sweat from his face. "This darn weather! Why is there thunder? Is it going to rain soon?"
Xiao Zhang took a few deep breaths, then picked up the cup on the table, poured himself a glass of water, drank it all in one gulp, put the cup down, and then spoke to Ma Chao.

Xiao Zhang wanted to argue back, but just as he was about to speak, his throat suddenly started itching and he coughed several times. This really angered him.
Gu Lingxiao said to Ma Chao, "You think you're so great because of your physical abilities? Little Zhang is an infantryman, why are you competing with him!"
Ma Chao sat down casually, patting Xiao Zhang on the shoulder.
"I was just saying that casually, how could you possibly be angry with me!"
"You've said all the good and bad things, how can I be angry!" Xiao Zhang muttered.
Looking at the two clowns in front of her, Lu Zhixia laughed, thinking that the two of them together were just like Wang Chao and Ma Han.
The sound of rain pattering outside was followed by a gust of wind blowing in through the window.
It instantly cooled them down from the stuffy heat in the room.
As the wind picked up, rain began to blow in and fall on their faces.
Gu Lingxiao got onto the kang (a heated brick bed) and closed the window. "This rain can start anytime."
Seeing that it was raining heavily outside and there was occasional thunder, Lu Zhixia knew that going back would be a bad idea.
Actually, she was a little afraid of thunder, especially such loud thunder, but she tried to remain calm and asked them...
"What do we do next? Should we rest here?"
Gu Lingxiao sat down. "It seems this is the only way for now. I'll go to the next room with the other two. You can rest here."

After they left, Gu Lingxiao asked again, "Are you afraid of thunder?"
Since that's what she was asking, Lu Zhixia nodded.
"I'm a little scared, but I'll just sleep with the lights on for a bit."
"How about I rest in this room, and we each sleep on one side?" Gu Lingxiao said in a deep voice, "That way you can sleep peacefully."
“That’s not a good idea,” Lu Zhixia said, looking at him. “Go and rest in the next room. I think I can manage. I’m a grown adult.”
Gu Lingxiao didn't insist and nodded before turning and leaving.
Lu Zhixia's fear of thunder stems from a childhood memory: one day, her grandfather went out to work, leaving her alone at home.
Suddenly it started raining, followed by a huge clap of thunder that split the large willow tree in front of the door in two, and it caught fire.
The sight of flames shooting into the sky terrified her.
Grandpa didn't come back until the rain stopped. She had already fainted from fright and was in a coma with a high fever for a day.
After waking up, she became afraid of thunder, a condition that persisted into adulthood.
Later, her grandfather fell ill and passed away. She had no choice but to sell everything she could in the house and use all the money to go to school in the city, because her grandfather had said he hoped she would become a successful person.
After spreading out the blankets, I crawled into bed and listened to the thunder outside, which rose and fell one after another.
In my mind, I recalled my past life. I wasn't in good health. After catching a cold, I had a low-grade fever for a long time and felt drowsy the whole time.

Xiao Zhang sat up helplessly, remembering that he had been caught sleeping in the previous day, and then complained.

Gu Lingxiao recalled hearing two people snoring in front of the car yesterday, their voices rising and falling in equal cadence.
