Chapter 121 Sending the person away

Zhou Cheng felt a chill run down his spine. He knew his mother was biased, but he didn't expect her to be this biased. She turned on him so ruthlessly as soon as she found out he had no money.

He didn't believe his wife when she told him before, always thinking that his parents were biased, but not to the point of being too biased.

Now he completely believes it; at least his biological mother doesn't care about him.

"I've already explained the situation to you. Now you know what's going on. Whether you stay or leave, it's up to you, Mom!"

“You’re broke, of course I have to go back, but I can’t just come for nothing. Give me 30 yuan and I’ll go back,” Grandma Ma said shamelessly. “I haven’t asked you for any retirement money all these years; your brother has been supporting us. It’s not unreasonable for me to ask you for some money, is it?” Her eyes swept over her somewhat thin son.

"Don't tell me you can't come up with this little bit of money."

"Mom, do you have to force me like this?" Zhou Cheng wasn't concerned about the 30 yuan; he was heartbroken by his mother's attitude.

“I’m your mother. I raised you from a baby to adulthood. Now all I need is for you to give me something in return, like some money to spend. Is that why you’re making things so difficult for me?” She poked her son’s chest with her hand. “Zhou Cheng! Don’t forget whose blood you have!”

"I don't have the money." Zhou Cheng hardened his heart. He knew that if he gave the money away readily, it would definitely cause endless trouble in the future.

"Then go out and borrow money for me, even if it's a loan, just give me the money and I'll leave. Otherwise, you can do whatever you want!" Old Mrs. Ma acted like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water.

Zhou Cheng first sobbed and then laughed, "Okay, I'll give you the money, but don't even think about getting another penny from me in the future."

"The way you're talking makes it sound like I'm forcing you to do something."

Grandma Ma was overjoyed to hear that her son was willing to give her money; at least the trip hadn't been in vain.

As for what will happen to her eldest son in the future, she doesn't care.

Anyway, I don't expect my eldest son to support me in my old age; I'll use the money to subsidize my younger son.

"Xiaxia, lend me some money." Zhou Cheng had learned his lesson and naturally wouldn't take the money out of his own pocket, so he asked Lu Zhixia for help.

Lu Zhixia turned and went back into the house. She had counted out 30 yuan, but put it back. She took out 20 yuan and gave it to Zhou Cheng.

That's all we have!

"Thank you, Xia Meizi?"

"Give it to me right now!" Old Mrs. Ma saw the money and reached out to snatch it.

Zhou Cheng saw that it was only 20 yuan, held it up in his hand and said to his mother, "Take the money, take your things and leave here right now, and never show your face in front of me again!"

"Look at what you're saying! I'm your mother, are you really going to abandon me from now on?" Old Mrs. Ma said, hands on her hips. "If I hadn't given birth to you, would you have the life you have now?"

Zhou Cheng couldn't hold back his anger, "Can you please stop saying things like that in the future? It wasn't me who begged you to give birth to me. Why do you keep saying things like that to choke me?"

This was the first time that Grandma Ma had been so defied by her son. She was so angry that she fainted.

He fell to the ground with a thud.

"Mom!" Zhou Cheng called out tentatively.

Lu Zhixia had already helped the old woman up, pinching her philtrum hard, and didn't forget to tell Zhou Cheng...

"I'm really dizzy this time."

"Ah!" Zhou Cheng quickly squatted down to the side, scratching his head. It wasn't his intention to make his mother faint from anger.

The old lady woke up quickly, and Lu Zhixia patted her face.

"You only have one life. If you keep pushing yourself, you'll really lose your life!"

Grandma Ma swallowed back her curses because she didn't want to die.

Lu Zhixia said to Zhou Cheng, "Come with me to help her into the house, then give her some water, and she should be fine."

Zhou Cheng was relieved after hearing this and quickly helped the person inside.

The onlookers dispersed and went home, each family starting to gossip.

"Zhou Cheng's mother is no pushover; she's sure to give the couple a run for their money."

"Isn't that right?"

"But that Lu Zhixia, she really does know medicine."

"Yeah, I thought they were just talking nonsense before. The person fainted, but they woke up after being pinched a couple of times."

"Absolutely! You can't do it if you don't have the ability!"

The discussions among the various families were roughly the same; they all had a new understanding of Lu Zhixia.

Grandma Ma took a sip of water and calmed down. She really thought she was going to die just now, and she stopped cursing.

She just lay there crying, thinking to herself how miserable her life had been!

She had five children: two sons and three daughters.

In order to provide them with a good life, their daughters all got married early and are not around. They don't come back even once a year.

She knew her daughter harbored resentment, and her eldest son went to work early and took good care of the family.

As for her youngest son, he was the one she cherished most. She would get anxious if she saw him not doing well.

So she could only try to get more from her eldest son, hoping to gain more for her younger son; this was the only solution she could think of.

"Mom, here's the money." Zhou Cheng then sighed heavily.

"Take this and go back! I'm limited in my abilities right now, and you know Yuanyuan is sick and needs money for treatment."

Grandma Ma's eyes lit up when she saw the money, and she grabbed it and stuffed it into her pocket without thinking much about it.

All she wanted in this life was to take care of her youngest son. She threw back the covers and sat up.

"I'll put on my shoes and leave now, so I won't bother you! When you get old, you get disliked!"

Zhou Cheng squatted down to put shoes on his mother. He didn't like hearing this, but he didn't want to argue with her.

Some things are better left unsaid.

Grandma Ma looked around to see if there was anything she could take, only to find that her eldest son's family was truly dirt poor.
