Lu Zhixia was amazed; no wonder he was a special forces soldier. In the blink of an eye, he had already rushed into the crowd.
So he quickly ran in his direction.
When Gu Lingxiao saw the person, he realized that he had met the chubby girl Zhuang Ran on the train. She had crossed the railing and was sitting on the small steps. If she hadn't been careful, she would have fallen into the water.
"Xiao Zhuang!" he called softly.
Zhuang Ran snapped out of his reverie and realized that a large crowd had gathered around him, and Gu Lingxiao was standing not far away.
"What's going on? How did I end up sitting here?" she muttered to herself.
"Don't move, I'll come and pull you up," Gu Lingxiao said.
Zhuang Ran's body began to go weak. "This is too scary. I'm afraid."
Lu Zhixia squeezed through the crowd at this moment and saw that it was Zhuang Ran who was about to jump, so she panicked.
"Xiao Zhuang! What are you doing!"
"Sister, I didn't mean to jump. I don't know why, but I'm sitting here," Zhuang Ran explained hurriedly. She was now afraid of falling herself.
"What can I do if I can't swim?!"
"Don't move, I'll come and pull you!" Gu Lingxiao said.
Lu Zhixia immediately followed up, "Xiao Zhuang! Don't move!"
Zhuang Ran nodded excitedly. She had just turned 20 and didn't want to die!
Gu Lingxiao walked along the railing and quickly reached her location, then reached out and took her hand.
Zhuang Ran then dared to stand up, and then stepped over while holding onto the railing. Someone reached out their hand, and she handed it to them.
The two men pulled at the same time and quickly dragged the person out.
Zhuang Ran's feet touched the ground, and her heart finally settled back into place.
"Young lady, what's bothering you? Why would someone so young want to die?"
An elderly woman with gray hair, leaning on a cane, felt heartbroken seeing her young child about to die.
"Exactly! What's there to be upset about? Isn't it better to live a good life?"
"I'm seriously ill, but I haven't even thought about dying. What about her?"
The man patted his thigh, but didn't say anything more.
Lu Zhixia had already taken Zhuang Ran's hand. "It's alright now, everything's fine."
Zhuang Ran nodded, and then began to explain to everyone.
"I wasn't thinking anything of doing anything wrong. As for why I got there, I don't know. Maybe it was because I was really, really angry, and without realizing it, I climbed up there." Then he bowed to everyone, "I'm sorry for causing you all this trouble!"
Immediately someone said, "If you don't want to die, then be more careful next time. Don't do anything so reckless again. Luckily someone saw you, otherwise how would you get up here when you realized what was happening?"
Someone chimed in, "Exactly! You could lose your life in no time, that's a serious matter!"
Lu Zhixia said, "Thank you everyone for your help!"
Seeing that the little girl was being looked after, everyone turned and left, and soon there were hardly any people around.
Lu Zhixia pulled Zhuang Ran to sit on a wooden chair nearby, seeing the little girl's still-shaken expression.
"Tell me! What happened? Why are you like this?!"
"He's married and almost has a child, yet he still lied to me, wanting me to stay home and take care of his parents. Why should I?" Zhuang Ran said indignantly. "Is it because of the childhood betrothal I was made with him that I'm sold to his family for life? Why has he changed?"
After hearing what she said, Lu Zhixia immediately understood what had happened when they were chatting on the train.
She learned that Zhuang Ran had come to find his childhood betrothed, saying she wanted to give him a surprise, because her family had agreed to let her work outside, and she was preparing to work as a nanny.
Then the two of them worked together to earn money to buy a house. They had many ideas, and she felt that the girl was both thoughtful and hardworking.
"Why should he lie to me just because I'm uneducated? He even makes it sound so reasonable, saying it's all for my sake, not because he doesn't want me. What does he take me for?" Zhuang Ran got angrier and angrier, wishing she could rush up to that man and beat him up right now.
Lu Zhixia: "Now that you know what happened, what's the next step? Go back to the countryside?"
Zhuang Ran looked around and then said with a determined look in his eyes, "I'm not leaving. I'm going to stay here because this place is so great. There are skyscrapers everywhere. I believe that with my hard work, I can definitely make money! Then I'll bring my parents here to live, buy them a house, and give them money to spend!"
Lu Zhixia patted her hand, "Then do it your way."
Zhuang Ran thought about her current situation—she didn't even have a penny to her name. When she left home, her mother offered her money, but she had firmly refused. Now, she wished she could turn back time and slap herself.
"But I don't even have a place to stay. What am I going to do?"
