"Grandma, you're so insightful." Gu Lingxiao readily admitted. He was thinking that he would be taking them to meet people tomorrow anyway, and he hadn't mentioned it before because of the distance.
After saying it, you can't immediately take people back; that would be counterproductive.
"You really have a boyfriend?" Li Xuehua asked, glancing at the couple as she spoke, thinking that their plans were destined to fail.
Gu Lingxiao: "Yes! She's a very nice woman, gentle, generous, intelligent, and very filial!"
Cai Wei got anxious, "Why didn't you tell us you were dating someone!"
Gu Dongsheng didn't speak. He could see from his son's eyes that he cared a lot about that woman.
What about the Lin family's daughter? The deal that was already agreed upon may not come to fruition now.
Gu Lingxiao said, "I never tell you my affairs. Besides, I felt the timing wasn't right, so I didn't tell you. Now that you've come, it's perfect that we can meet tomorrow."
Cai Wei was furious. Her son had found a girlfriend, which meant all the plans she had made were now impossible to realize.
"I don't agree with this person. I've never even met them. I don't agree with you two being together!"
Gu Lingxiao thought his mother was just too anxious. "Mom, you have to believe me, Comrade Lu is a very good person."
“I disagree, that’s my opinion. You two should break up!” Cai Wei said confidently.
Upon hearing this, the driver exclaimed, "Good heavens, this family has ethical issues!"
Fortunately, we had arrived at our destination. I quickly parked the car and then said to them,
"Who will pay the fare once we get there?"
Gu Lingxiao took out the money and gave it to the driver. After the driver gave him the change and got out of the car, he was now radiating coldness.
Without even looking, I knew my complexion looked terrible.
He dislikes having his parents interfere in his life, and now they're even meddling in his marriage, which he finds even more unacceptable.
Seeing her son's expression, Cai Wei realized that she had indeed spoken too harshly.
"Let me tell you, your marriage is not a game, you can't make your own decisions. Look how hard you work every day, after you get married you'll be in charge of the household, will she be able to handle it?"
Gu Lingxiao said, "Mom, can you please stop arguing? Let me check you in first."
Cai Wei wanted to say something more, but her husband tugged at her sleeve, and she shut her mouth.
Li Xuehua felt a surge of joy; indeed, one only truly understands the pain when it happens to oneself.
Now the daughter-in-law is experiencing what it means to feel jealous.
She was filled with anticipation for her future granddaughter-in-law.
A woman who can catch the eye of her grandson is definitely not an ordinary woman; she must have something very attractive about her.
After Gu Lingxiao entered the hotel, he checked them in. Originally, a regular room would have been fine, but now he wanted to book a suite because his grandmother would definitely not feel at ease staying alone.
The suite was a bit pricey, but the layout was very nice, with beds in both rooms, and it was relatively clean.
The waiter brought them hot water and then thoughtfully closed the door, leaving the family of three alone in the room.
Cai Wei looked at her son and asked, "What kind of woman is she that you can't bear to part with? How did you two meet?"
"What is her educational background? How old is she?"
"What do your parents do for a living? What does she do for a living now?"
"You didn't tell us any of this before sending us to see her. What were you thinking!" She slammed her hand on the coffee table, wanting her son to know how angry she was.
Gu Lingxiao: "She doesn't have a job right now. She should be 29 years old this year. Her parents have passed away."
Upon hearing that the woman was unemployed and quite old, Cai Wei stood up abruptly, "How could you marry an old maid? How come she doesn't have a job!"
Gu Lingxiao: "She runs a small business."
Cai Wei was so angry she could hardly breathe. Clutching her chest, she said to her son, "Your father and I don't have any demands on you. If you like working in the military, then go ahead and do it. But when it comes to marriage, you have to listen to us!"
Gu Lingxiao: "If that's the case, then there's nothing to talk about! I'm in charge of my own life, and you can't interfere. Don't forget, my household registration isn't at home!"
Cai Wei was so angry she almost rolled her eyes. This was the first time her son had ever talked back to her like this, and she felt a sharp pain in her heart. Holding her husband's hand, she said...
"Dongsheng, my son is bullying me too much! What should I do?!"
Gu Dongsheng looked at his son; his face was already very pale.
"You should go back first! I'll try to talk to your mother."
"Then I'll go first!" Gu Lingxiao was very angry. He didn't know what his mother was thinking. For him, the only thing that mattered was that he liked the person he married.
Although he could spend his life with anyone, he only wanted to spend his life with Lu Zhixia.
Gu Dongsheng said to his son's retreating figure, "By the way, are you still raising that child of yours?"
Gu Lingxiao turned around and said, "His name is Gu Huailin, and he will always be my son, not that child!"
Gu Dongsheng was also a little angry. His son's stubbornness was very similar to his own, even more so.
"I brought him along this time to meet everyone. I don't know what the child looks like. He was only three years old when I last met him."
"We'll see!" Gu Lingxiao replied, opened the door, and left.
Looking at the closed door, Li Xuehua stood up and said to her son, "I'm going back to lie down for a while. Call me when it's time to eat."
“Okay, Mom,” Gu Dongsheng said.
Li Xuehua knew her son and daughter-in-law were about to argue again, and she didn't want to be used as a pawn.
The saying goes, "Children and grandchildren have their own blessings; you reap what you sow."
