Gu Dongsheng said, "Through today's meal, I can see that my son is determined to marry no one but Comrade Lu. And the child my son adopted is so well-behaved, obedient, and adorable; they've raised him very well!"
Cai Wei thought about her previous stubbornness and slapped herself.
"It's all my fault. I always made you not accept the child because of blood ties. Now that I think about it, I was really stupid. Why should I change my son's decision?"
"Does it hurt? Why did you hit yourself?" Gu Dongsheng touched his wife's face. "Isn't all of this in the past? Let's just look forward to the future. They seem to be getting along well, so let's hurry up and get their wedding done."
Cai Wei said, "That's what I think too. When our son comes over again, we'll urge them to get married sooner." Thinking that Lu Zhixia was not young and had given birth before, she said, "You know, how could that scumbag ex-husband be so bad as to switch his own child? Gu Dongsheng heard his wife's even breathing and knew she was asleep. He didn't push her away immediately, but waited a while before doing so.
At this point, he couldn't fall asleep. He heard coughing from the next room, so he got out of bed, put on his shoes, and went to the door of the next room. He heard his mother get out of bed, and she gently knocked on the door before going in.
When Li Xuehua saw her son come in, she put down her cane and sat back down, quickly handing him a water glass.
She took two sips of water before looking up at her son.
"Is Xiaowei asleep?"
Gu Dongsheng took the cup with both hands, put it back in its original place, and then sat down next to his mother.
"I fell asleep, but after talking to her for a while, I couldn't fall asleep anymore."
Li Xuehua patted her son on the shoulder, "That's how it is when you get old. You'll fall asleep after lying down for a while."
Gu Dongsheng looked at his mother and said, "Actually, I came here to apologize to you. I never seriously thought about how immature I was back then. It wasn't until I experienced what happened with my son that I realized how foolish I was!"
Li Xuehua chuckled, "Now you understand how I felt back then, and that's enough. Besides, your happy marriage all these years proves that you made the right choice. As for what happened back then, it's all in the past now."
Gu Dongsheng thought back to how his mother pawned the token of love his father had given him to get money in order to cancel his engagement. He wanted to slap himself a few times. At that time, he only cared about causing trouble and did not consider the consequences at all.
"Mom, I'm sorry!" He threw himself into his mother's arms. Thankfully, he now had a chance to apologize.
"Alright, alright, it's all in the past." Li Xuehua patted her son on the back. "You're such a grown man, why are you still acting like a child with me!"
Gu Dongsheng chuckled. He was truly grateful that his mother was still alive, allowing him to make up for the regrets in his heart.
Li Xuehua gazed at the moon outside the window, wondering if everything would be different starting today.

Gu Lingxiao let his son go inside first, then pulled Lu Zhixia into a passionate kiss.
He was overjoyed today; his parents had given their approval, and the wedding would proceed smoothly from there.
His lips went numb, so he slowly released his mouth, and the two of them were now face to face.
"I'm sorry, it was impulsive of me!"
"Alright, you can go back now! You have work to do tomorrow!"
"I don't want to be separated from you."
"Once the house is renovated, we'll have a place to stay together."
"How far along is the installation?"

“Let’s get married!” Gu Lingxiao said. “I think I’ll go and submit the application tomorrow.”
“Okay,” Lu Zhixia replied.
Gu Lingxiao picked him up and spun him around; he was genuinely excited.

"Then I'll submit the report tomorrow!"

Gu Lingxiao hugged the person tightly again, then let go. "I have to go. If I don't leave now, I won't be able to get out."

Gu Lingxiao walked backwards until he was almost at the top of the stairs and had to turn around.
