Chapter 252 Serious Illness

Hospital.

When Erni returned from helping her grandfather to the toilet, she saw that Huzi had fallen asleep again, so she quickly kicked his leg.

Tiger immediately opened his eyes and saw that they had returned. He quickly helped his grandfather to lie down on the bed.

Old Man Fan saw that both children were exhausted.

"You all should get some rest! You don't need to stay with me!"

Erni covered the old man with a blanket, saying, "Grandpa, the doctor said that you just had surgery, and these next few days are very important."

Old Guo coughed a few times. He felt that his health had deteriorated after the surgery, but he didn't dare tell his children, afraid that they would worry and feel uncomfortable!

Erni quickly picked up the kettle and poured water, trying her best to imitate the adults and take good care of her grandfather.

Holding the cup in one hand, she used the other to help her grandfather up.

"Drink water!"

Old Guo managed to take a sip of water but couldn't drink any more. He kept thinking he wouldn't survive the winter. Looking at his sensible Erni,

"If Grandpa can't come back, everything in the family will be in your hands."

"Grandpa, please don't say that!" Erni forced back her tears; she couldn't cry in front of her grandfather.

Tiger burst into tears. No matter how strong he was, he was still just a child. If his grandfather were gone, all the children would be completely alone and helpless.

Erni reached out and pinched Hu Zi's bottom to stop him from crying, saying that crying at this time would only cause Grandpa more trouble.

Tiger quickly stopped crying, but his mouth was still twitching. He knew Erni wouldn't let him cry!

Old Guo reached out and touched the child's face. "That winter, when we brought you home from the hospital, you were such a tiny little thing. You've grown so much in the blink of an eye." He then coughed a few times.

"Grandpa knows about your parents' situation. Do you want to go—" A violent cough cut off what he was about to say.

Erni shook her head vigorously, "I won't go to them!"

Tiger looked at Erni. If it were him, he would definitely go looking for his parents, even if it was just to see them.

We need to see what they look like and why they abandoned him.

Old Guo patted the child's head. "I know you hate them, but it's also possible that one of them loves you—"

Erni gripped her grandfather's arm. "I don't care about them. All I care about now is you. You have to get better soon!"

Old Guo took a deep breath. He wanted to keep living, but he felt that staying in the hospital was just burning money.

He didn't want his children to go astray because of money!

"Discharge me tomorrow!"

Erni said, "Grandpa, the doctor said you should rest in the hospital. You've only been here a few days. Be a good boy and don't worry about things at home. I'll take care of everything."

Old Guo said, "Then it's settled. I'll stay for three more days at most. I want to go home. I don't want to stay here anymore!"

Erni breathed a sigh of relief and nodded emphatically, "Okay, Grandpa!"

Old Guo, "How's things at home? Are they all alright?"

Erni: "They're all fine, they're all very obedient!"

Tiger stopped sobbing. "Everyone is waiting for you to come back."

Old Guo said, "I know, I will try my best to get better, but you all need to take good care of yourselves. I know you are all very sensible."

As he spoke, the old man closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

Seeing that Grandpa had fallen asleep again, Erni pulled Huzi outside.

"Go home and rest early tomorrow morning, and come back in the evening!"

"Are you sure you can manage on your own?" Tiger asked worriedly.

Erni: "I can definitely do it. The main problem is that Grandpa is worried about the family. You should go back and keep an eye on things. I'm a little worried about them too!"

Tiger nodded to indicate that he understood, "Then be careful here."

Erni tried her best to act like an adult.

"With me here, Grandpa will definitely be alright."

"Grandpa was about to tell you about your parents, why don't you want to know?" Tiger couldn't help but ask.

Erni walked to the window and looked at the stars in the sky.

“I am a girl, so they definitely didn’t want to raise me anymore, and then they gave me to my grandparents. If it weren’t for their kindness, I wouldn’t be alive today.”

“But anything can happen. If one of them wants you, then you’ll have a home!” Tiger lowered his head. “When Grandma was alive, I asked about your background, but you just don’t know it.”

Erni looked at Huzi, who was half a head taller than her, and asked, "What did Grandma say?"

Tiger looked up and said, "Grandma said I was picked up by the roadside. It was raining heavily that day. I was in a cardboard box, wrapped in a coat. They didn't leave any information."

Erni thought of the four little ones in her family, whose situation was not much different from theirs. The fifth one was even worse off than them, as he had been sent to his grandparents' doorstep. They probably found out that his grandparents were kind-hearted and adopted children.

But they never considered that if they didn't want to raise them, why did they bring them into the world in the first place?

She gave birth to the child but didn't raise it, so she harbored resentment deep down!

As she gets older, she becomes more and more sensible!

"Tiger, don't think about them. When we grow up and become our own family, we should let go of some things!"

"Erni!" Hu Zi called out, then burst into tears again. He knew he was asking for too much.

What he really wanted to know was why he had been abandoned.

They don't want me because I'm so cute and smart!

Erni was afraid that Hu Zi would cry again, so she could only pat him on the shoulder.

"Don't forget, he's the biggest man in our family besides Grandpa. He can't keep crying!"
