Upon hearing that it was Jiangdu, Gu Lingxiao immediately started calculating in his mind. In three days, his work would be finished, which would give him a reason to ask for leave.
"Old Yuan, once I finish my current work, I want to get involved in this case."
“I have to ask you to, you’re already involved, how can you run away!” Old Yuan said with a smile. “I also need to take a few people from your side, after all, I have limited manpower here. Since we’re cooperating, let’s cooperate thoroughly.”
Gu Lingxiao looked at the old fox and said, "Alright, I'll bring a few people with me later."
Old Yuan was so happy he couldn't stop smiling. "Then, as usual, I'll treat you to dinner later. How about noodles?"
Gu Lingxiao picked up the hat on the table. "I'll skip the meal; I have to go back."
Old Yuan stood up and said, "Then I'll see you to the door."
Gu Lingxiao turned around and said, "No need to be polite with me, you go about your business!"
Old Yuan walked over with a smile, "What are you saying? No matter how busy I am, I'll still give you a ride!"
Gu Lingxiao wasn't one to be pretentious, so when the other party insisted on giving it to him, he didn't refuse anymore.
He was thinking about who would take care of his child if he left the army in a few days.
Ma Chao and the others?
They are usually quite busy with training, and taking care of a child is not something they can do casually. They are also worried that their son might run around.
Lost in thought the whole way, he soon arrived at the door. He waved goodbye to Lao Yuan and got into the car. Remembering that his son had been talking about wanting to eat roast duck yesterday, he went to the state-run restaurant to buy some.

The waiter's smile widened when he heard that a banquet had been ordered.

Gu Lingxiao drove back to the military base quickly. He touched the bag of roast duck, which was still warm. He opened the car door, stepped out with his long legs, and closed the door with his right hand while carrying the roast duck in his left.
It wasn't yet time for the troops to finish their shift, so he took a side path and returned to his dormitory.
When I opened the door, I saw my son sitting at the table drawing.
"Dad!" Gu Huailin called out, then smelled the aroma of roast duck and rushed over.
"You bought me roast duck!"
"Um."
Gu Huailin jumped up happily, then followed his father to the table and saw many bags.
"We bought so much, we can't possibly eat it all!"
Gu Lingxiao said, "Call those uncles over later, and you can eat with them."
Gu Huailin then realized why his father had bought so much roast duck. The aroma of the roast duck was irresistible, and he swallowed hard.
Seeing his son like this, Gu Lingxiao took out a duck leg from inside. "Eat one to fill your stomach first!"
"No, I want to wait for my uncle to eat together," Gu Huailin said.
Looking at his sensible and well-behaved son, Gu Lingxiao felt very gratified. As the old saying goes, "You can tell what a person will be like at three years old." This child is of good character; he will surely turn out well when he grows up.
Soon it was time to get off work. He took his lunchbox and went to find a few other people. First, he went to the cafeteria to get food and dishes, and then he called them back to the dormitory together.
As soon as Ma Chao pushed open the door and entered the room, he smelled the aroma of meat and saw a bag of roast duck on the table. "Holy crap! Captain, you've really gone all out!"
Gu Lingxiao: "That's why I called you all over to eat."
When they saw the bag of roast duck on the table, they knew it was quite a lot.
Zhang Lin exclaimed, "Such good stuff without any wine? That's such a waste!"
Ma Chao agreed, saying, "Indeed, let's go get a few bottles!"
Gu Lingxiao: "Are you all pretending I don't exist? How can we drink in this situation? We're already being generous by changing your meals. Don't you dare shirk your responsibilities during the military exercise in a few days. Show us your true skills!"
"Don't worry, Captain!" Ma Chao patted his chest. "We'll definitely give it our all and won't let you down!"
Those around him chimed in, "That's right! We absolutely won't let you embarrass yourself!"
Gu Lingxiao said, "Alright, that's enough. Let's sit down and eat! Half a duck each, don't take any more!"
"Yes, sir!" Ma Chao replied readily.
Then they began to eat in a lively atmosphere.
They all gave the duck legs to Gu Huailin without prior arrangement, and only took them back when the child said he couldn't eat anymore.
Gu Huailin felt so happy tonight. While eating, he thought of his mother and asked his father...
"Has Mom arrived yet? I wonder if she's eaten anything."
Looking at her sensible son, she said, "With your Aunt An here, your mother will definitely not go hungry."
Gu Huailin thought that Zhou An'an had a good appetite and was particularly picky about food. He figured that his mother would eat a lot too, so he could rest assured.
