Chapter 260 Encountering a Benefactor Again

She pointed to her mouth with her finger and stammered, "Ghost—"

Fatty Sun hates it when people say his daughter looks like a ghost. The child was just unlucky to be burned in an accident and survived.

Why do people care so much about appearance? He raised his hand and slapped him hard across the face.

"If you keep spouting nonsense, I'll tear your mouth apart!"

Tong Shujia was slapped to the ground, her head throbbing terribly. Then, like a dead dog being dragged away, she was pulled back to the woodshed.

After all that commotion, he became incontinent.

Fatty Sun simply tied the rope together, then closed the door and left.

Fu Yi was almost suffocated by the stench. He secretly vowed to himself whether he wanted to spend his life with this stinky woman!

He had just returned from abroad and was doing very well, but now he's stuck in this wretched place.

If the people below hadn't come to his rescue, he wouldn't have known what the consequences would have been. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

At this moment, sons and daughters mean nothing to him!

What's important is being able to live a good life!

The Ministry of State Security quickly learned that they had been detained, but before they could figure out what was going on, Yuan Shikai had no choice but to order a standstill.

——

Lu Zhixia brought Zhou An'an to the breakfast stall, where they were warmly received by the owner.

The table was soon filled with breakfast: freshly fried golden and crispy fried dough sticks, milky white soy milk, tender white tofu pudding, and all sorts of side dishes.

The proprietress sat down and said, "Ever since you helped me improve the recipe last time, my business has been getting better every day. It's all because you came early today, otherwise I would have closed up shop long ago."

Lu Zhixia: "Isn't that great? Having business is the same as having money!"

The proprietress smiled broadly, "Before, there was another business trying to steal our customers, but now that we've improved, they've had to find another place to set up their stall because they simply can't compete!"

The man came over after frying the dough sticks. "Young lady, how many days will you be staying here this time?"

The proprietress glanced at her husband; this guy had finally come to his senses and knew to take the initiative to talk to people.

Lu Zhixia said, "To be honest, I came here to find my child."

The landlady asked, "What child are you looking for?"

Lu Zhixia briefly recounted her past experiences.

The proprietress was shocked and said, "Then searching like this is like looking for a needle in a haystack."

Lu Zhixia nodded, "You could say that, but I'm not afraid."

The proprietress turned to her husband and said, "Quickly think of someone you know in that area."

The man thought for a moment, "There's someone, do you remember a fat guy who used to come here to eat often? I think he's the neighborhood director."

The proprietress remembered that person after being reminded.

"Yes, yes, that's him, but he doesn't seem to have come these past two days."

The man said, "I remember his surname is Zheng."

The proprietress turned to Lu Zhixia and said, "That person seems to be the neighborhood director, but he hasn't come over recently."

Lu Zhixia said, "If he were the street director, things would be much easier."

"Boss, another fried dough stick!" someone shouted from behind.

The man hurried to get some gas. When he looked up, he saw a figure walking towards him from a distance, placing his hand on the door frame to block the morning sun. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the person was indeed Old Zheng.

So he quickly told his wife, "Old Zheng is here!"

The proprietress stood up and looked into the distance. She recognized him as Old Zheng, who often came to eat there, and then quickly and warmly walked over to him.

Director Zheng saw the proprietress approaching and asked, "What are you up to?"

"Boss lady, why haven't you come for breakfast these past two days?"

Old Zheng said with a smile, "It's not because I'm busy. I just happened to get up early today, so I thought I'd try my luck and see if I could get a meal."

The landlady said, "I need your help with something today. If you do it well, I'll treat you to breakfast for a month."

Old Zheng's squinted eyes snapped open instantly. "Is that really true?"

The proprietress patted her chest and said, "Absolutely! When have I ever lied to you?"

Old Zheng laughed heartily, "Alright then! I'll help you with anything as long as it doesn't violate my principles!"

So the proprietress led the man to them, "Comrade Lu, this is the neighborhood director I was just talking about, Old Zheng."

Lu Zhixia quickly shook hands with the other person, "Hello, my surname is Lu, you can just call me Xiao Lu!"

Director Zheng nodded slightly. He didn't know what he wanted from him, so he sat down generously.

"Speak! What is it? Let me make this clear, I won't do anything illegal! I won't do anything that goes against my principles either. I can't break my principles of many years just for a meal!"

The proprietress ladled out a bowl of tofu pudding, brought it back, and placed it on the table. "Eat your food first, and then we can talk business."

Director Zheng looked at the delicious tofu pudding but didn't touch the spoon. Instead, he watched them continue talking.

"Speak! What is it? Otherwise I won't be able to eat in peace."

So the proprietress spoke up, "It's like this, my sister had a child 10 years ago, and then her husband gave the child away. She found out that the person who took the child lived on your street, but she doesn't know if he still lives there now. Could you check for her?"

Director Zheng was silent for a few seconds. "I don't know if I can help with this. First of all, I came here 5 years ago, and your breakfast stall didn't exist then. If I know this person, that's fine, but if I don't, I can only ask others to help me ask around and see if I can find this person."

Lu Zhixia thought this chubby director was actually a pretty good person. Unlike some people who would readily agree to help anyone they asked, but then do nothing of value.
