Chapter 33: Sold for a huge sum!

"Grandpa!" Lu Zhixia walked over. "Do you have any good news to tell me?"

“Ginseng! We’ve found a buyer. It’s those three people you met yesterday. They’re willing to pay 1200 yuan. Do you want to sell it?” Old Master Bai said with a smile. “Originally, they wanted to renege on the deal and only offer 800 yuan. I told them that if that was the case, I wouldn’t pay any more.”

They could only scrape together 1200 yuan. I think that's a decent amount. What do you think?

Hearing that the ginseng sold for 1200 yuan, Lu Zhixia was overjoyed. In her opinion, it would be good if it sold for a few hundred yuan.

I'll sell it!

"Alright, I'll have someone call them over. We'll exchange money for goods." Old Master Bai turned and hurriedly left.

The way he walks doesn't look like that of a 90-year-old.

Saying he's 40 is an understatement, Lu Zhixia's face beamed with a greedy smile.

With this money, she no longer needed to buy ice cream to earn money; she could ride in a car and sell snacks from street to street.

"1200 yuan is a reasonable price; you're really lucky," Gu Lingxiao said.

“Of course!” Lu Zhixia replied with a smile.

The group of people watching from the sidelines found it incredibly unusual for their captain to be talking to a woman.

You know, back when the most beautiful girl in the cultural troupe came to have dinner with the team leader.

Gu Lingxiao merely glanced at them coldly before hurrying away.

The girl was so embarrassed by the flowers that she never went to see him again.

They felt it was a real pity at the time; that woman had such a beautiful figure, she was every man's dream!

Gu Lingxiao just didn't like her, and not long after, the girl in the group was transferred away, and the matter was dropped.

Later, when the women saw that the team leader didn't even like the most beautiful girl in the group, they stopped introducing potential partners to her.

The girl in front of me looks quite old. I wonder if she has a boyfriend or if she's already married?

Lu Zhixia was hungry, so she asked them...

Have you had breakfast?

"We've already eaten!" they all answered at the same time.

The loud voice startled everyone around them, who all looked at them.

Gu Lingxiao glanced at them coldly, "I haven't eaten yet."

"Let's eat together!" Lu Zhixia asked casually.

I didn't expect him to have not eaten yet. This won't do. If you don't eat properly, your stomach will suffer.

"I got up early this morning to pick them up, so I didn't eat," Gu Lingxiao explained.

Lu Zhixia nodded knowingly, and then followed him back to the outer room.

When Bai Ying saw Captain Gu enter, she quickly stood up and then solemnly said,

"Thank you for saving Xiaxia."

"Don't mention it, it's my duty," Gu Lingxiao replied softly, surprised that there were other people in the room.

Lu Zhixia decisively moved her bowl of porridge next to Gu Lingxiao.

"You eat first, then I'll get another bowl."

"Let me do it!" Bai Ying rushed to get a bowl to serve the porridge, and then placed it on the table.

The atmosphere was a little awkward, but thankfully I had already finished eating.

Lu Zhixia picked up the bowl and drank the porridge generously; her hunger wouldn't allow her to eat slowly.

Besides, after those few hours yesterday, these two are no strangers to each other.

Salted duck eggs are delicious; they're so oily they ooze out when you bite into them.

The radish strips on the table contained dried chili threads, making them chewy and not too salty.

Gu Lingxiao ate very quickly, without chewing slowly, and finished a large bowl in the blink of an eye.

Just as Lu Zhixia was about to serve another bowl, she heard a dog barking in the yard, knowing that the ginseng collectors had arrived.

So he said to Bai Ying, "Come on, let's split the money."

"What money? What money are we getting?!" Bai Ying was completely bewildered.

"Grandpa said he'd sell the ginseng we dug up together for 1200 yuan," Lu Zhixia said, tilting her head up. "So I'm going to share the money with you."

Bai Ying heard the price was 1200 yuan, and then asked for 20% herself, which was several hundred yuan. She stepped forward.

"Stop joking. I was just saying that casually that day. How could I actually share the money with you?"

Lu Zhixia insisted, "No, I have to share with you. You helped me dig the ginseng, and we made a deal back then. If you don't share the money, how can we still be sisters?"

"This..." Bai Ying felt that no matter how she thought about it, she had gotten a great deal.

"Alright, let's go out and collect the money first." Lu Zhixia reached out and grabbed Bai Ying's wrist.

Then they went outside together.

Gu Lingxiao saw all of this. Although this woman was greedy for money, she wasn't a bad person at all.

He learned from the villagers' conversation that Lu Zhixia had arrived in the village yesterday.

In other words, he only spent a few hours with this older woman.

Yet he was willing to share some of the benefits he had gained; such character is truly rare.

He admired it greatly, but instead of leaving, he continued eating.

When Lu Zhixia came outside, she saw the three people. They were bowing and scraping, with smiles on their faces, which was completely different from when she met them in the car.

"Let's not waste any more time. Cash on delivery. I'll go back to my room and get the ginseng." After saying that, Old Master Bai turned and went back to his room where he kept his precious medicinal herbs.

In fact, he had accumulated some medicinal herbs over the years, but fresh ginseng that is over 300 years old is extremely rare and hard to come by.

As long as a person has a breath left, holding a ginseng slice in their mouth can keep them alive and allow them to receive timely treatment.

The chubby herbal medicine merchant exclaimed, "Young lady, you're incredibly lucky! You've only been in this village for a few hours, and you've already dug up wild ginseng on the mountain. Your luck is unbelievable!"

After saying that, he gave a thumbs up and said, "We need to learn from you."
