Chapter 7 Song Weidong's Mysterious Confidence

Even with no experience, Zhou An'an knew things had gotten serious. If someone died, it would bring trouble to her father. So she unlocked the man's handcuffs.

"Removing your handcuffs doesn't mean you're innocent. This woman hit her head against the wall; you need to come with me to the hospital. Your issues haven't been resolved yet; I still need to ask her questions!"

Song Weidong looked at the girl with cold eyes, swallowed back the words of reprimand he was about to say, and instead turned to Lu Zhixia to ask a question.

"Don't even think about getting a divorce. I don't agree, and going to court won't do you any good! Go back here right now!"

Lu Zhixia looked at him coldly, "I won't go back with you. Whether the court grants a divorce or not is not up to you!"

Song Weidong took two deep breaths. He couldn't make a move in this situation. He knew that when women made a scene, they would just run away from home. Lu Zhixia was an orphan with no relatives.

As for her old classmates, she hadn't been in contact with them for years, and there was practically no one to take her in.

If you offer small favors now, maybe in a couple of days her anger will subside and she'll come back on her own.

His ultimate goal is to vent his anger later!

His inherent confidence led him to believe that Lu Zhixia would not be able to get a divorce!

"Wait for me!"

He turned and went back into the house.

Lu Zhixia ignored him and went over to apologize to the law enforcement officer.

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble. I hope things will get out of hand and affect you."

Zhou An'an shook her head. "I'm fine. She bumped into the wall herself. I didn't tell her to. So many people at the scene can testify for me. But what are you going to do next? Blocking them in broad daylight without substantial evidence will make it difficult to convict them."

"I will prepare the necessary documents and file a lawsuit in court," Lu Zhixia said resolutely. "The divorce is a must!"

"Then I'll testify for you in court. Even though we didn't catch them in the act, with them in this state, nobody believes they're innocent!" Zhou An'an said angrily. "Men who cheat on their partners like this won't have a good ending!"

"My name is Lu Zhixia!"

"Zhou An'an! You're older than me, just call me Little Zhou! I'll call you Sister Xia!"

"OK!"

Lu Zhixia felt that although she hadn't achieved her goal of getting a divorce today, it was still pretty good that she had made a kind-hearted friend like Zhou An'an.

When Song Weidong came out of the house and saw them getting very close, he was displeased, but he didn't dare to say anything. He handed over the 50 yuan, and instead said in a commanding tone,

"Lu Zhixia! Take this money! You're only allowed to leave for three days. Think it over and come home obediently! I'll pretend nothing happened!"

Lu Zhixia looked at the money handed to her and took it without hesitation, stuffing it into her pocket. With this money, plus the cash and tickets in her pocket, she could find a place to settle down first.

This money is too good to pass up; we'll settle the score sooner or later!

Zhou An'an hated this kind of despicable behavior in men—having affairs on the side while expecting to keep their wives at home. There was no such thing as a free lunch. So, she stood between them and turned to Lu Zhixia, saying...

"Alright, you can go now!"

Lu Zhixia nodded slightly, turned and left. After taking a few steps, she remembered how she had done all the chores at home, so she turned back and smiled sweetly at Song Weidong, saying...

"I advise you to go home today and see the big gift I've left for you!" After saying that, he turned and left.

Song Weidong suddenly had a bad feeling. He watched as the person walked away, and he was powerless to stop it!

When Lu Zhixia went downstairs, she saw the group of people who brought over the hospital doctors. The hospital was right next door, so Chen Jianing wouldn't die from the collision; at most, she would only suffer a concussion.

Song Weidong wanted to go downstairs to find out what was going on, but he saw someone coming upstairs, followed closely by the doctor in the white coat. They had a stretcher.

There were still children to take care of inside, and Chen Jianing had been injured in the accident, so he really couldn't get away. He could only clench his fists, go back inside to pick up the children, and then go to the hospital with them.

Lu Zhixia returned to the police station and rode away on her bicycle. She didn't have much money in her pocket, and this old bicycle was quite a big purchase.

Even the cheapest guesthouse costs several dollars a day, so renting a room is the only option.

She couldn't rent a place from someone she knew, because those people might tell Song Weidong the location of her place. She couldn't confront him directly right now; he was rich and powerful, and that would be detrimental to her.

So I went from the south of the city to the west. There were several factories nearby, and the population was dense, so there must be places to rent.

As she passed a utility pole, she saw a rental ad posted on it for tenement buildings for rent. Following the instructions, she rode along the road for another two minutes.

We arrived at the bottom of the tenement building, which appeared to have four floors. Just then, someone came down the stairs. The woman was wearing a blue dress with the words "Cotton Mill" printed on the chest. She was holding a little girl's hand with her right hand and carrying another child in her arms, who looked to be about one or two years old.

"Excuse me, ma'am, do you know who rents out rooms around here?"

Su Lan sized up the girl who had asked the question. She was dressed in faded white clothes and looked to be in her early twenties, not unmarried.

Did you see the rental ad on the telephone pole?

"Yes! That's it."

"That should be the notice posted at my house. The information on it is incomplete. It's just a very small house that can only fit a bed that's a little over a meter long, and a cabinet for clothes. If your family comes to stay..."

"I'm afraid there's not enough room. You should try asking somewhere else!"

"I live alone." Lu Zhixia raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead. "Could I take a look at the apartment first?"

Su Lan heard that the other person lived alone and seemed like an efficient person; their clothes, though faded from washing, were neat and clean. So she turned and went upstairs.
