After washing their faces and having a quick meal, they packed their things and set off. Selling goods on the street is the hardest thing to do, as it strains your voice.
Since we're selling mala tang (spicy hot pot) today, we need to go to places with lots of people, like bus stations, shopping mall entrances, and parks where adults gather.
When she encounters a crowded place, she has to shout loudly.
"Mala tang, delicious mala tang, go home and cook it, mix it up!! It's delicious and inexpensive, only 40 cents a serving, consider it an extra dish!"
With their loud voices calling out, they quickly made their first sale. Once they made a sale, they made a second. After they had looked around the area, their flushed faces were covered in sweat, and their clothes were soaked through.
They had sold most of their goods, so they rode their bikes back home. They had a few bags of spicy hot pot left, which they cooked for lunch.
I arrived home quickly and threw my things on the ground.
Su Lan was in charge of cooking the spicy hot pot, while Lu Zhixia sat on a stool massaging her legs. As the aroma grew stronger, her stomach growled.
"Sister Lan, our business is doing well today. I think we can make about 8 yuan. Are you determined to go solo?"
"Yes, there is, but if we sell the same thing at the same time, will I steal your business?"
"So what? Don't be fooled by how well we're selling today. Maybe in a few days someone will copy us, and then business will be tough. But then I can think of other ways to make a living. The key is to be ahead of the game so we can earn our first pot of gold."
"That makes sense. How about I try it tomorrow?"
"Sure! Tomorrow's Saturday, why don't you try working alone for a day?"
"Okay, what you said makes me interested."
The two women smiled at each other, feeling that life was becoming more and more promising.
After cooking the spicy hot pot, Su Lan set up the table in the hallway. The children weren't home today, so it was another day of a quiet meal!
It was cool here with a cross breeze, and Lu Zhixia ate her hot spicy hot pot without feeling hot at all.
"What delicious food are you eating?"
Aunt Pang walked over from a distance, carrying a plate of freshly washed grapes.
Su Lan said, "This is a spicy hot pot dish we developed. Would you like some?"
Aunt Pang was there to freeload; the food smelled amazing, but she couldn't very well show up empty-handed.
I washed a plate of the grapes I bought, brought it over, and casually placed it on the table.
"I'm not giving these grapes away for nothing, they're really sweet!"
Su Lan took a bowl and filled it for Aunt Pang. As she sprinkled chili oil into it, she asked her...
"Would you like it extra spicy?"
"Absolutely! Give me three big spoonfuls right away, I can handle spicy food really well!"
The plump aunt pursed her lips, her mouth watering so much she almost drooled. She quickly wiped it away with her hand, feeling embarrassed.
Lu Zhixia remembered that Xiao Zhang had an upset stomach yesterday, so she reminded Aunt Pang.
"You can't overindulge in spicy food. The young man who ate mala tang here yesterday had an upset stomach all night. It's not that our food was unclean, it's just that his stomach is too weak to eat that much."
"I'm fine. I usually eat chili peppers all the time, so this little bit of spiciness is nothing to me." Auntie Pang rolled up her sleeves, picked up her chopsticks, and started eating. She loved it after just one bite.
I actually saw them cooking yesterday, but I was too embarrassed to join in. Today, I just couldn't resist and shamelessly came over.
However, she is a person of principle and will never take advantage of others; she always brings something in exchange.
Watching Aunt Pang eat, savoring every bite of rice noodles and sip of soup, Lu Zhixia's appetite was whetted.
"Excuse me, do you know which household Lu Zhixia lives in?"
Upon hearing her own name, Lu Zhixia looked up and saw Xiao Zhao, who had handled her paperwork at the court that day, and immediately stood up.
"I'm here!"
Xiao Zhao thought it would be difficult to find someone, but he found the person as soon as he arrived.
The environment of the tenement building is hard to describe, but it looks relatively clean, just a bit messy.
Seeing that the other person was dressed in court attire, Su Lan knew it must be about a divorce case, so she quickly handed the basin to Aunt Pang.
"We have guests coming over. Take this home and eat it; we need to entertain them."
The plump aunt didn't stand on ceremony with her, and left with the basin and her own bowl and chopsticks. As she passed the girl, she glanced at her and noticed that she was wearing a court uniform.
I wondered what could possibly be wrong with them that warranted the court coming to their door?
However, she didn't think too much about it. The hot pot wouldn't taste good if it got cold, so she had to finish it quickly.
Lu Zhixia had already welcomed Xiao Zhao into the house and brought her a stool to sit on.
Su Lan went home, poured a glass of water, and brought it over.
"Comrade, this is cooled-down boiled water. Drink it quickly to quench your thirst."
Xiao Zhao felt embarrassed by their enthusiasm. She took the cup and held it in her hand, then waited for them to sit down before speaking.
"Here's the thing, my boss asked me to ask you if it's okay to handle the divorce case first, so we can get a divorce faster. As for the child being stolen, you can file a separate lawsuit. The court will still help with the investigation and will definitely not neglect it."
Lu Zhixia hesitated, thinking that divorce would allow her to get rid of Song Weidong completely. Should she go to trial together or get a divorce first?
"Could you give me some time to think about it?"
"Of course, you can. Think it over carefully. Go to court tomorrow and tell me. According to the schedule, your divorce case can be heard next week. This is the fastest we can do in our court," Xiao Zhao said in a formulaic tone.
"Don't miss this opportunity. If you don't handle it next week, the court's case schedule will be almost full, and it may be delayed for one or two months, or even longer. Judge Du specifically held a meeting to solicit everyone's opinions before arranging this time for you!"
