Chapter 82 Grandpa Wants to Go Back to the Village

"Dad!" Chen Jianing roared angrily, "How could you treat me like this? I'm your child too!"

"What are you yelling for! If you still consider me your father, then leave now. This isn't the time for you to cause trouble. Come back next month for my birthday!" Chen Wei handed the bag to his daughter. "You came home without bringing anything. I don't know what you're doing here!"

Chen Jianing understood everything. It turned out that the smiling face they greeted when she first returned meant they thought she had brought money back again.

Since they couldn't gain anything from this, they simply ordered people to leave.

He looked at them and said, "Okay, I'm leaving now! You don't need to chase me away!"

With a bag in her left hand and her daughter in her right, she was as disheveled as she had been when she returned, a stark contrast to her current state of arrogance.

"Take care, big sister!" Xue Lulu said with a smile.

The door slammed shut quite loudly, but they didn't pay it any mind, since Chen Jianing didn't live at home regularly anyway.

Once things have calmed down after a while, they'll happily come back with their kids.

Chen Jianing carried the child all the way back to Song Weidong's house. The moment she sat on the bed, she burst into tears.

There was no one in the house at that moment, so she could cry without restraint.

The divorce didn't make her cry, but her family abandoning her made her cry!

What should we do with our lives from now on?

Looking up at everything in the room, could it be that she could only rely on Song Weidong?

Why did it turn out like this?

She couldn't understand it!

After crying, she blamed everything on Lu Zhixia, saying that none of this would have happened if Lu Zhixia hadn't brought people to catch them in the act.

She is still Chen Jianing, who has plenty of money to spend every month, not a divorced woman who has just been divorced!

The thought of not getting my money back felt like a huge chunk of my flesh had been ripped out.

However, for the moment, she could only rely on Song Weidong to survive, so she left the child on the bed, went to the bathroom to put on makeup, and then went to the kitchen to cook.

Although her cooking skills were questionable, she wanted to impress the man!

——

Lu Zhixia started making dumplings, Xiao Zhang was in charge of rolling out the dough, and she and Gu Lingxiao were in charge of wrapping them. They worked together quite well.

Grandpa Bai sat by the window, sipping tea and occasionally fanning himself with a bamboo fan.

Lu Zhixia placed the last dumpling on the steamer rack.

"Alright, we can start cooking the dumplings now."

Xiao Zhang clapped his hands excitedly. These meat dumplings weren't something he could eat anytime, and he was so hungry he was practically drooling.

Gu Lingxiao glanced at Xiao Zhang and said, "Look at how smug you are. Hurry up and go start a fire."

Xiao Zhang immediately got out of bed and put on his shoes. "Okay, I'll go start a fire and boil water. But I really won't cook these dumplings. Comrade Lu will have to do it."

"Just go and boil the water." Lu Zhixia raised her hand and rubbed her sore shoulders. She had done a lot of work today.

After receiving the order, Xiao Zhang went to the outer room to boil water.

Grandpa Bai looked at the dumplings on the lid of the steamer; the lines between the Chu and Han rivers were clearly defined, but they were all quite beautifully wrapped.

After some reflection yesterday, I realized he had indeed been meddling a bit too much. He had already done his best to help them to this extent; now it was up to them to decide their own fate.

Just imagining the little girl's expression when she finds out that Gu Lingxiao doesn't have a wife or children will be so funny!

"Grandpa, what are you laughing at?" Lu Zhixia felt that the old man's laughter had a hint of schadenfreude.

"It's nothing, I just thought of something funny." Old Master Bai got up and got off the kang (a heated brick bed). "I'm going to stay in the yard for a while, it's too hot in the house."

Lu Zhixia poured the flour from the board into a bowl, then had Gu Lingxiao put it back in its place. She could finally lean against the wall and rest for a while.

It's no wonder Grandpa went out; the room is a bit small and only has one window. It would be better if there was another window at the back so that there would be a cross breeze.

Make a note of this drawback, and be sure to pay attention to this aspect when buying a house in the future.

In a drowsy state, I slumped to the side with my head down, almost falling onto the kang (a heated brick bed). This woke me up completely, so I quickly got out of bed and went to the outer room, where I saw that the water had just boiled.

So I put the dumplings in the pot. The round, plump dumplings were boiled in the water for a few minutes before I took them out and let them cool.

After the dumplings were cooked, I boiled some more water to make fish ball soup. I lined the bottom of the bowl with seaweed and dried shrimp, then added salt and MSG, and drizzled two drops of sesame oil on top.

After the fish balls were boiled in the pot, they were scooped out. There were exactly 8 fish balls in each bowl, no more and no less. I looked down and smelled the wonderful aroma.

It's a pity this fish isn't fresh; otherwise, the fish balls would have been even fresher. After preparing everything, we went to the yard.

"Alright, we can eat now!"

Upon hearing that it was time to eat, Xiao Zhang rushed into the outer room. Seeing the dumplings on the plate and the fish ball soup in the bowl, he laughed so hard he made a goose-like sound.

Gu Lingxiao, who came in later, coughed loudly.

Xiao Zhang then stopped laughing, and the two of them carried the plates and bowls to the table in the yard one by one. Lu Zhixia was responsible for getting the dipping sauce and chopsticks.

They sat around the table eating dumplings and drinking freshly cooked fish ball soup, exchanging a few words every now and then. It was a very pleasant life.

——

When Song Weidong got off work, he first went to pick up his son from school. His sister was taking care of their mother at the hospital. He gave her enough money, as long as she took good care of her.

As for whether she goes to see thugs or not, he really doesn't care anymore. Let her do whatever she wants!

So he assumed no one was home. When he opened the door with his key and saw two dishes and a soup on the table, he was stunned.

He couldn't help but look towards the kitchen, hoping Lu Zhixia would be inside. But when he saw Chen Jianing come out, he was greatly disappointed.
