“Xiaoming went to another city with his sister.” Lu Zhixia walked to the door and looked at the handsome little boy in front of her. He had very good features, but he was a little thin.
Suddenly, she remembered that she had seen this child before, and thought of the woman who was with the little boy that day.
"Little one, do you remember me?"
Gu Huailin looked up and blinked, looking at the aunt in front of him. She looked really beautiful when she smiled.
What a warm feeling!
At that moment, he remembered what had happened that day and suddenly realized what was going on, and said,
"You're the aunt who helped me that day!"
“Yes, I’m that auntie. We’re really destined to meet.” Lu Zhixia opened the door and let the child in. “Come on, come inside and sit for a while.”
"Okay!" Gu Huailin happily agreed.
Lu Zhixia returned to the room, picked up the bag that was on the kang (a heated brick bed), and took out White Rabbit milk candy from it.
"Little one, I don't have anything else to offer you, so here's some candy for you!"
"Thank you, Auntie!" Gu Huailin was very happy to see the candy, and the discomfort in his heart gradually disappeared.
He looked around and noticed the family photo hanging on the wall was gone. A bad feeling instantly washed over him. He pointed to the wall with his right hand.
"photo."
"What?" Lu Zhixia saw him pointing at the wall and instantly guessed what had happened. "They took them away."
"Where did they go?" Gu Huailin thought of losing his only friend, and tears welled up in his eyes.
"Why are you crying!" Lu Zhixia felt heartbroken seeing the child cry, so she quickly went over and let him cry in her arms. "Good boy, be good, don't cry!"
"Xiaoming is gone, and there's no one to talk to me anymore." Gu Huailin became even more upset as she said this, and burst into tears.
The tears that had been pent up for days were finally released.
He soon burst into tears, gasping for breath.
Afraid that the child would cry too much, Lu Zhixia quickly patted his shoulder and started singing a lullaby to soothe him.
"Little Erlang, carrying his schoolbag, goes to school..."
The woman's clear voice gradually calmed him down. He looked up at the woman in front of him with his small face.
"Auntie sings beautifully!"
"If you like listening to this, then tell me your name."
"Little Linzi!"
"This name sounds nice. Did your father or mother choose it?"
"My dad named him that!" Gu Huailin said proudly. "My dad is a soldier. He specializes in fighting bad guys. He's very powerful! He has many scars on his body, which are all proof that he fought bad guys!"
Upon hearing that the baby's father was a soldier, Lu Zhixia immediately thought of the woman from that day. "Your father is so capable, your mother is so lucky!"
“I…” Gu Huailin lowered his head.
"What's wrong?" Lu Zhixia immediately realized that the child was upset.
Gu Huailin slowly raised his head, his eyes filled with tears.
"I don't have a mother."
"How could this be?" Lu Zhixia thought of the woman from that day, her fierce appearance still fresh in her memory.
"The person who brought you that day?"
"She is a nanny, not my mother."
When Lu Zhixia saw the child's tears streaming down his face, she tried to wipe them away with a handkerchief, but they only flowed more.
She had experienced this situation before, and instantly felt the same way, so she hugged the child tightly.
"It will be alright, everything will be alright."
"Auntie, you smell so good. Will you be my mom?"
"No, I can't be your mother."
“Okay!” Gu Huailin said obediently.
This auntie is so kind, gentle and beautiful, and she's willing to hold him like this.
There was once a grandmother who held him like this, chatted with him every day, and took him out to buy food.
Those were the happiest times of his young life. Later, other women came to be by his side, and he was no longer as carefree.
They were like strangers to him; no matter how much he tried to please them, he could no longer get the warmth he once felt.
It wasn't until the nanny was replaced that he realized what a bad person was!
He hated it, but he didn't dare tell his father.
Because that woman was really, really wicked, even more wicked than the witch in Snow White!
He was afraid that the woman would hurt his father, even though his father was very capable.
Lu Zhixia felt sorry for the child in front of her. She guessed that his father was unable to take care of him because of work, so he hired a nanny.
But that nanny was a jerk; she often bullied him!
"Xiao Linzi, do you live nearby?"
“My home is on the left side of the third floor of that building behind!” Gu Huailin said, looking up. “Can I come here often in the future?”
“Yes, you can come here to play as long as I’m here!” Lu Zhixia tidied the child’s hair. “You can tell Auntie anything you need to do.”
“Okay, Auntie!” Gu Huailin said happily.
Lu Zhixia put the child down and sat him down. Just then, she heard someone shouting outside.
"Gu Huailin! Come out here!" Ma Suzhen shouted from outside.
Gu Huailin's body trembled a few times, then he quickly got off the ground.
"Auntie, I have to go back now. I'll come to see you when I have time."
"Xiao Linzi, tell me, did she bully you?" Lu Zhixia grabbed his arm. "I can help you tell your dad!"
"Auntie, I'm fine. She's just a little strict. My dad is so busy with work, protecting our country. I don't want to cause him any trouble," Gu Huailin said softly.
"I'm going back now."
Lu Zhixia then let go of his hand, watching the child run out and quickly reach the door, where he opened it.
