At this point, Su Lan became interested, "Where do you think would be a good place for us to set up our table?"
"Go to places with lots of people and high traffic," Lu Zhixia said.
"But wouldn't someone check?" Su Lan felt as if two pounds of flesh had been cut off from her body at the thought of being caught and fined.
Lu Zhixia said, "When I went to other cities this time, I found that they all had night markets. We can also set one up here."
Su Lan: "What is a night market? Is it a black market?"
Lu Zhixia said, "It's different from there. We find a street with a lot of foot traffic, choose a spot to set up a stall and sell things. Over time, more and more people will set up stalls."
Su Lan, eager to try, exclaimed, "Now that you mention it, I'm really looking forward to it!"
Lu Zhixia said, "Don't think too much about it in the early stages. Let's see if we can make money. Also, if we really get caught, we have connections!"
Su Lan immediately felt more confident after hearing this, "Okay, I'll listen to you. When your brother-in-law comes back in the next couple of days, I'll go out and explore."
The thought that neither of them is currently employed and they are spending all their savings from before makes them yearn to earn money more than ever before.
Lu Zhixia then opened the bag. "Now for the important business: kill this rabbit!"
Su Lan looked at the rabbits in the bag, which were lively and hopping around. One of them even had a big belly. She reached out and touched the rabbit's head.
Seeing that there was no resistance, she touched her stomach.
"She's got a baby in her belly, she's about to give birth!"
"No way?" Lu Zhixia looked at the rabbit carefully and saw that its belly was indeed a bit big. "I bought it because of its size, what am I going to do now!"
Su Lan said, "Killing this mother rabbit with her babies is such a terrible thing."
Lu Zhixia picked up another rabbit, looked it over, and said, "This one should be ready to be killed and eaten."
"Mom, is there a bunny?" Zhou Yuanyuan groped her way out of the house.
Grandpa Bai followed closely behind and came out. Giving acupuncture to children takes more effort, so he raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead.
Then he saw the rabbit in the bag.
"Wow, this rabbit is nice!"
Lu Zhixia took Zhou Yuanyuan and let her little hands touch the rabbit.
"It's so soft!" Zhou Yuanyuan exclaimed. "Let's not kill the rabbit, okay? It's so cute!"
Su Lan said, "But if we don't kill the rabbits, we won't have any meat to eat, so we still have to kill them!"
Zhou Yuanyuan immediately felt wronged, but she couldn't cry, as it was bad for her eyes.
Lu Zhixia suggested, "Let's kill this one without babies, but we won't kill the other mother rabbit with babies until she gives birth!"
Su Lan said, "You're thinking the same thing as me! If we kill this rabbit with its babies, I'll have nightmares about it!"
When Zhou Yuanyuan heard that the mother rabbit could be spared, she wasn't so sad anymore. It was true that if the rabbit wasn't killed, there would be no meat to eat, and she couldn't let everyone go without meat because of her own selfishness.
"Can we keep this rabbit as a pet?"
Su Lan said, "If you want to raise it, you'll have to ask your brothers. If they're willing to cut grass, we can raise this rabbit, but we can't keep it for too long. We'll sell it when it grows up!"
Zhou Yuanyuan: "I know that when I grow up, I will sell myself for money."
Lu Zhixia said, "Then it's decided. You can raise the female rabbit."
Zhou Yuanyuan smiled happily, and then she felt that the light in front of her eyes had become much brighter.
Grandpa Bai sat on the stool and said, "Where did you buy this rabbit? It doesn't look like a farmed rabbit; it looks like a wild rabbit!"
After Su Lan handed over the box, Lu Zhixia took the pregnant rabbit out and put it in the box. In the unfamiliar environment, the rabbit did not move at all.
"I bought it near the supply and marketing cooperative. There are vendors there occasionally, and I've bought fish from them several times already."
Grandpa Bai said, "That's quite good. I'll let them know when I get back to the village and tell them to come out and set up a stall when they have time."
Su Lan first carried the box into the house, and then put her daughter on the bed inside. This way, she could kill the rabbit without any worries.
This was the first time Lu Zhixia had seen a rabbit being killed. It looked a bit bloody, but once the rabbit was chopped up, its bright red color would definitely make it delicious when stir-fried.
Su Lan: "They've all been chopped up, what's next?"
Lu Zhixia said, "I originally prepared two rabbits, one for lunch and one for dinner, but now I have to divide them in two."
Su Lan said, "Let's make less for lunch, since there aren't many people!"
"Who said there are fewer people?" Hu Youli walked over from the other end of the corridor, carrying a bottle of liquor.
"I'm here to freeload a meal; I'm here uninvited today!"
Lu Zhixia knew things were looking up when she saw him arrive; she had to admit, this man was quite reliable.
"Brother Hu, you're coming to have dinner! We warmly welcome you!"
Hu Youli pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket. "I came here to tell you that I got the address of the person you asked me to find."
