A sharp gust of wind whistled past her ears, and then Song Yanzhi was pulled away by a strong force and shoved into a thick, warm embrace.
She heard a muffled thud, but the pain she had imagined did not come.
Song Yanzhi opened her eyes and saw Pei Yuchen standing in front of her, his tall figure like a mountain. Before she could speak, Pei Yuchen pulled her behind him and grabbed Li Laifu's collar.
He kicked the still somewhat dazed Li Laifu in the knee, causing Li Laifu to stumble and fall to his knees.
Before Li Laifu could even scream, his face slammed down, and blood and teeth flew out together.
Everyone was stunned. Li Yuehua, who was following behind, was the first to wake up and screamed as she rushed forward to block him, "Xiao Pei! Don't hit him! Let's talk this out."
Pei Yuchen stopped his punch, and the gust of wind swept across her face, startling Li Yuehua. His gaze was truly chilling, and her legs went weak, almost causing her to lose her balance.
Ignoring her fear, she quickly helped her younger brother up. Seeing that his face and mouth were covered in blood, she immediately burst into tears, "Oh dear, Laifu, what are you doing, Laifu! I need to take you to the hospital right away."
Li Yuehua didn't even notice her frightened daughter and grandson, or her son-in-law who had almost been injured by her brother; her mind was only on her brother.

The scene descended into chaos.
Li Yuehua cried and begged for her parents, which alerted Village Chief Huo, who quickly found people to carry her to the clinic.
Initially, they were quite upset to hear that someone had beaten up someone from their village, but when they learned that Li Laifu had started it, Village Chief Huo felt ashamed and personally apologized to Pei Yuchen and Song Yanzhi.

Song's father was furious. What angered him even more was that his wife hadn't even tried to comfort their daughter and grandson, and had actually left with her brother.

Song Yanzhi was surprised that Xiaobao noticed she had been hit. She felt very relieved and touched. When she saw him crying, she quickly hugged him and comforted him.
Xiao Bao clung to her waist, still shaken. Although he sometimes disliked his mother, she was the only person he saw when he opened his eyes. The two of them had gone through all sorts of hardships together. Xiao Bao also knew that although his mother cared a lot about what others said about him being stupid, she hadn't abandoned him. No matter how tired or busy she was, she would still cook for him.
When that man hit her, she didn't dodge immediately; instead, she protected herself.
He regretted it, regretting that he shouldn't have ignored her just because there were two more people in the house.
He will definitely behave from now on and will never ignore her again.
Pei Yuchen helped handle the matter and came in. Xiao Bao glanced at him sideways, then immediately turned her head away.
Pei Yuchen stepped forward and said in a low voice, "Let me take a look."
Song Yanzhi paused for a moment.
She didn't refuse, perhaps because the man's protection had lessened her resistance.
Pei Yuchen gently brushed aside her soft hair; the back of her head was a little swollen.
He frowned and asked, "Does it hurt?"
Song Yanzhi shook her head and then said, "Don't tell my dad, he'll worry."
Pei Yuchen paused for a moment, then nodded: "I'll go buy some medicine for you to apply."
Song Yanzhi's eyes were filled with complicated emotions. If Pei Yuchen hadn't protected her back then, her situation would probably have been even worse.
How is Li Laifu doing?
Song Yan asked.
Upon hearing Li Laifu's name, Pei Yuchen's eyes darkened, and he said in a deep voice, "He won't die."
“He started it this time, everyone saw it. I’ve already had someone call the police, don’t worry, he won’t dare to cause trouble.”
Song Yanzhi nodded; she didn't want to linger here too long over this. Besides, Li Laifu deserved it; he was even so ruthless to his own niece.
"Mom, Grandma doesn't like us, so we're never coming again."
Song Yanzhi tilted her head to look at him; the child was pouting and looking aggrieved.
Feeling warm inside, she immediately smiled and said, "Okay, we won't come again. Let's go home first thing tomorrow morning."
