After finishing their meal, Song Yanzhi handed over the task of washing the dishes to the two children.
As soon as I entered the room, I heard a loud clatter from the kitchen.
She frowned, went outside, and went into the kitchen.
Pei Tiantian stood there, pale and helpless, with broken plates scattered all over the ground.
Seeing Song Yanzhi walk into the kitchen, she was even more terrified, her whole body trembling.
Pei Jichuan immediately stepped forward and said quickly, "Aunt Song, I broke it. I'm sorry."
Pei Tiantian didn't dare to speak, but she seemed relieved when she saw her brother step forward.
Pei Jichuan stared at Song Yanzhi with a tense expression, seemingly prepared to be beaten.
Although he tried to control himself, Song Yanzhi knew from the way his calves were trembling that the child was clearly afraid.
If it were in the previous life, Song Yanzhi would have corrected the two children and made Pei Tiantian realize her mistakes and correct them.
But now she had no thoughts at all, and simply said, "Clean it up."
After Song Yanzhi left, Pei Tiantian gasped for breath, saying with relief, "Brother, Aunt Song is such a kind person, she didn't blame me at all."
Last time, she accidentally broke her aunt's bowl and was beaten so badly that her skin was torn and bleeding.
Pei Tiantian was terrified.
She was afraid that Song Yanzhi wouldn't like her, and even more afraid that she would hit her.
Pei Jichuan didn't answer her question, his eyes somewhat indifferent. "This is the last time."
The two siblings spent the afternoon tidying up their rooms.
Song Yanzhi's bone broth, which he had been simmering all afternoon, was finally ready. The thick, white broth was bubbling away, and the whole kitchen was filled with a rich, mellow aroma of meat.
In just a short while, it's time to prepare dinner again.
Song Yanzhi felt exhausted. Although she didn't like the male lead's biological mother, it would be a lie to say that she didn't envy her life. But how could her own circumstances compare to hers?
Thinking of her son, Song Yanzhi regained her energy.
To fatten up your little one, start by drinking bone broth.
She decided not to eat dinner that night, and instead took out some flour to make bone broth noodles.
My son has a sensitive stomach and can't eat too much.
However, after kneading the dough for a while, Song Yanzhi felt a pain in her back that made it feel like it wasn't her own anymore.
She took a breath and finished in one go.
When Pei Jichuan and his sister came out of their room after tidying up, they were both covered in dust.
In their previous life, Song Yanzhi did all these chores for them, leaving them so exhausted that their backs ached and they couldn't sleep at night.
In this life, she certainly wouldn't do such a thankless and arduous task.
So the two children were busy for quite a while.
Seeing that it was almost dinner time, the two of them very considerately went into the kitchen to help her serve noodles.
But one of their bowls contained an egg, which left the two children speechless.
I could hardly believe my eyes.
Breakfast was rice and stir-fried meat. Dinner was bone broth noodles—is today some kind of holiday?
No, even on holidays they don't get to eat this good. This is real meat broth.
The two little ones looked up at Song Yanzhi.
Song Yanzhi didn't look at them, but called out to her son in the room, "Xiaobao, dinner is ready."
Xiao Bao opened the door a crack, looked at her for a while, twitched his nose as if he really smelled the fragrance, and then came out.
The little guy was probably asleep; his little tuft of hair was all wet. This child has always been prone to sweating, and now his head was practically steaming—it was quite amusing.
He walked over and sat down, then stared blankly at the heart-shaped poached egg in the bowl.
I don't quite understand how an egg can be made like this.
She couldn't help but glance at the bowls of Pei Jichuan and his sister.
I noticed that there were no eggs in their bowls, only my own.
His expression didn't change much, but somehow his legs started swinging back and forth.
Pei Jichuan and Pei Tiantian also saw the beautiful heart-shaped egg in his bowl.
A hint of envy flashed in his eyes.
Their adoptive mother would not mistreat them and would give them good food.
But she won't love them.
The thought of this possibility plunged the two children into despair.
They also long to be pampered by their mother, just like Xiaobao.
Xiao Bao took a bite of noodles, his eyes lit up, and he immediately started slurping them up, his mouth full of broth, eating like a little pig without even lifting his head.
Song Yanzhi was too tired and had no appetite. As soon as she sat down, she felt exhausted.
It seems she'll have to find time to go to the hospital for a check-up tomorrow.
She took a bite of the noodles, and although they smelled delicious, the strong flavor still made her feel a little nauseous.
She instinctively said, "Xiaobao, get Mommy a glass of water..."
Before she could finish speaking, she realized that her son was still angry with her and wouldn't be willing to pour her water. Just as Song Yanzhi was about to get up to pour the water herself, Pei Tiantian stood up.
She said sweetly, "Aunt Song, I'll go pour it for you."
He was about to leave after saying that.
However, before she could react, a small figure rushed out, went into the kitchen, and closed the door, preventing Pei Tiantian from entering.
Xiao Bao scooped a cup of water from the water vat, held it in both hands, and walked out, standing on tiptoe to bring it to Song Yanzhi's lips.
"for you."
His face still held its usual indifferent expression, but there was a hint of stubbornness and resentment in his eyes.
It seems like if she doesn't drink, they'll never talk to her again.
Song Yanzhi found it somewhat amusing.
She was still just a child; she lowered her head, took her son's hand, and gulped down the drink, then thanked him, Xiaobao.
Xiao Bao pursed his lips, his expression unreadable, but his gaze shifted away.
Then he sat back down in his seat, lowered his head to slurp the noodles, his little face flushed red from the steam.
