Chapter 9 Xiao Bao was bullied

He lowered his eyes; it was Wang Jichuan, the son of his comrade-in-arms.

Now it's been given to him. His mother said that in order not to mistreat the two children, she wanted them to take her surname and change it to Pei Jichuan.

At this moment, Pei Jichuan looked at him with some tension and said, "Uncle Pei, Aunt Song did not mistreat us."

"I have to wash Xiaobao's clothes myself; Aunt Song didn't let me."

"She is very good to us siblings, I hope you won't quarrel with her."

Pei Yuchen was slightly taken aback.

It seems the awkward atmosphere with Song Yanzhi just now caused the children to misunderstand.

I thought they were arguing.

Were we arguing? Not really.

Because Song Yanzhi had no intention of arguing with him at all.

She was surprisingly calm.

“I know,” Pei Yuchen said succinctly.

He's not stupid; he glanced at the room when he came in and knew that both kids were washing their own clothes.

If Song Yanzhi really treated them badly, he certainly wouldn't have only let them wash their own clothes.

Pei Jichuan breathed a slight sigh of relief. He had been filled with fear after overhearing what those people were saying outside.

I'm worried that the two of them will argue because of their sibling relationship.

...

The Pei family.

"Dad, Mom."

Pei Yuchen went to visit his parents.

He changed into casual clothes, his expression less solemn, and he had long since shed the air of his youth, gaining a more composed demeanor.

He was carrying some gifts.

Wang Yanmei hadn't seen her son for several years, and was overjoyed to see him. She immediately greeted him warmly, "Yuchen, you're back! Come in and sit down."

"I'll go cook right away."

Pei Yuchen replied indifferently, "No need. I have something to do later. I'll just come to see you for a moment and then leave."

Upon hearing this, Wang Yanmei frowned.

She didn't really like her eldest son. He had been indifferent since childhood and wasn't enthusiastic about his biological parents.

Then I remembered that Xiaobao was the same way; they really are cut from the same bone.

But no matter how much they disliked it, it still brought honor to the Pei family.

Now that the whole family depends on him for a living, of course we have to greet him with a smile.

She then asked, "You should have gone home by now. Did you see Ji Chuan and Tian Tian? They are both very well-behaved children."

"I've met you," Pei Yuchen said succinctly.

Wang Yanmei beamed with joy when she talked about her two children, as if they were her own grandchildren.

Instead, they didn't mention Song Yanzhi and Xiaobao at all.

Pei Yuchen put down his teacup.

"How have Yanzhi and Xiaobao been these past five years?" he interrupted Wang Yanmei.

Wang Yanmei was slightly taken aback, then her attitude turned very displeased: "What could be wrong with them? They eat and drink as usual. You sent her to work in the textile factory before, such a good position, but she was lazy all day long. If I hadn't found a way to get someone to fill her place, she would have been fired long ago."

"Who has a wife like her, who doesn't go to work for four or five years after having a child?" She spoke of Song Yanzhi with obvious displeasure.

“This time you sent Ji Chuan and Tian Tian over, and she still gave me attitude and tried every trick in the book to get money from me. She’s practically emptied my pockets!”

Pei Yuchen frowned slightly, not believing Wang Yanmei's words.

Although she didn't spend much time with Song Yanzhi, she wasn't that assertive.

He put down his teacup and said, "Alright, I have something to do, so I'll be going now. I'll come see you again when I have time."

Wang Yanmei left before she could say much more about her youngest son's upcoming wedding.

She stomped her foot in anger.

That unfilial son of hers, he's infuriating her.

**

Xiao Bao ran to play under the big locust tree he often went to; it was his secret base.

He reached out and touched the soil on the ground; it was damp, indicating that it had rained the night before.

It washed away his ant nest.

He was squatting down when suddenly several children ran over and asked, "Who are you?"

"Your shoes are really nice."

"Even better looking than Da Zhuang's."

Xiao Bao turned around and saw several dirty children with snot dripping from their noses.

The other person looked at her with envy.

Dazhuang, who was surrounded by a group of children, immediately looked towards Xiaobao upon hearing this.

Upon seeing that it was Xiaobao, and noticing that he was wearing newer clothes than she was, her face immediately darkened, and she shouted, "Don't play with him! He's a little idiot. My mom said that playing with him will make you stupid too!"

"Ah, he's Little Silly Bao."

"Why is he dressed so nicely today?"

“Her mother is very poor, she has no money at all. Sometimes she has to come to my house to cook for me and give me clothes that I don’t want anymore,” Dazhuang said proudly.

Xiao Bao stared at Da Zhuang.

He didn't pick up Dazhuang's clothes to wear.

These are the little jacket and new shoes his mother bought for him.

“These are definitely my clothes. You’re not allowed to wear my clothes, you little fool.”

Da Zhuang got angry when he saw that Da Zhuang still dared to glare at him.

She stretched out her dirty hands and tried to push Xiaobao.

Xiao Bao tried to avoid Da Zhuang, who was two years older than him. With his small arms and legs, Xiao Bao was pushed to the ground.

The new clothes got dirty immediately.

Xiao Bao's eyes turned bloodshot with anger, and he angrily reached out to grab Da Zhuang's face.

This claw strike completely stunned Da Zhuang, who burst into tears with a loud "Wah!"

"The little fool has gone mad."

"Everyone, run!"

The adults heard the crying and ran over.

Xiao Bao was terrified when he saw the adults and ran home.

Just as Song Yanzhi finished cooking and was about to go out to call for someone, she saw Xiao Bao standing at the door.

His new clothes, which he had just worn out, were wrinkled, and his shoes and body were covered in mud.

She was startled; how could the child have gotten dirty so quickly after being out for only a short while?
