The terrifying thought had barely crossed my mind when I heard everyone gasp in alarm.
"It really was written by Xiaobao; his handwriting is so beautiful."
"Oh my god, didn't we wrongly accuse Xiaobao?"
Chen Jinbao stared in disbelief at Xiao Bao on the stage, who was writing characters neatly and beautifully, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
Xiao Bao can actually write so beautifully! How is that possible? I've been learning for two years and I still can't write so beautifully. How can Xiao Bao write so well?
Didn't Mom say she wasn't very smart?
Chen Jinbao was stunned.
Then I heard people whispering.
"It was all Chen Jinbao's words that made me misunderstand."
"Yes, it's Chen Jinbao. I know. He must be jealous that Xiaobao got first place, so he framed him. Chen Jinbao is so mean."
Chen Jinbao's face turned pale instantly.
"Chen Jinbao, apologize to Xiaobao." The teacher's stern voice rang out.
Chen Jinbao's face flushed red. "I...I..."
"What do you mean, 'you'? Xiao Bao has already proven himself. What else do you have to say? You've gone too far. If you have any problems, you can talk to the teacher, but you can't hurt Xiao Bao like this! What you did is wrong!"
If Xiao Bao's resilience is too low, he might never dare to take first place again.
"If you don't apologize, I'll call your parents over and have them apologize to Xiaobao."
Upon hearing that his parents would be called, Chen Jinbao panicked completely and said in a tearful voice, "I know I was wrong, teacher, please don't call my parents."
"Then apologize to Xiaobao."
With tears in his eyes, Chen Jinbao said, "Pei Ruibao, I'm sorry, I know I was wrong."
Xiao Bao nodded and said, "I don't forgive you."
Chen Jinbao: "......"
Perhaps because Xiao Bao's tone was too straightforward, no one thought there was anything wrong with it.
"In that case, Chen Jinbao will be punished by cleaning the blackboard for a week! If it happens again, I will ask your parents to come and apologize in person," the teacher said.
Chen Jinbao was so frightened that he shrank back, and he was no longer as arrogant as when he framed Xiaobao.
The students were all too afraid to speak.
Although they didn't say the story, they were still involved because they believed Chen Jinbao's words.
The matter was considered closed at that point, and Xiao Bao left the classroom with his schoolbag on his back.
Tie Zhu skipped along beside him, excitedly recounting what had just happened.
Clearly, Chen Jinbao's fate made him very happy.
Xiao Bao remained calm, perhaps because he had been ostracized by the children in the residential compound since childhood and bullied by Da Zhuang and his gang. So even when Chen Jinbao targeted him at school, he didn't feel anything.
I would never take it to heart.
Other children might have been extremely upset, but Xiao Bao didn't care.
He's a strong child; if he were to cry over something so small, he would be too weak.
He wants to become as strong as his father, so that people wouldn't dare to bully him just by looking at him.
Xiao Bao gripped the shoulder strap of his backpack tightly.
As soon as I stepped out of the school gate, I saw a familiar, tall figure.
He was somewhat surprised, but after the initial surprise, a hint of delight flashed in his eyes.
"Dad!" he called out and ran over.
Pei Yuchen bent down, picked up his son, and placed him on his shoulder.
Suddenly, his field of vision rose higher, and he felt like a giant, while the other children looked short and small, and everyone had to look up at him.
Xiao Bao became happy.
"Xiao Bao, how's school lately?"
Tie Zhu stood to the side, trying to lift his chubby little face to look at Xiao Bao, his eyes filled with envy as he looked at his father, who was even taller than his own.
But he quickly realized what was happening and immediately started complaining on Xiao Bao's behalf: "Uncle, uncle, let me tell you, there's a bad kid in our class who bullied Xiao Bao and said that Xiao Bao got first place by cheating, blah blah blah..."
Upon hearing this, Pei Yuchen's gentle expression turned cold.
"Xiao Bao, is that so?"
Xiao Bao nodded.
Pei Yuchen's eyes darkened. "I'll take you to find your teacher."
Xiao Bao said, "Dad, the teacher made Chen Jinbao apologize to me and punished him by making him clean the blackboard for a week."
Upon hearing this, Pei Yuchen's expression softened slightly. It seemed that the teacher was sensible and had not misunderstood the child because of his own words.
"If anyone bullies you again, tell Dad."
Xiao Bao turned his little face away and didn't say anything.
Pei Yuchen paused for a moment.
Over the years, Xiao Bao has suffered many unfair treatments in the family compound, but his father was not by his side and never stood in front of him to protect him.
So, right now, Xiaobao doesn't trust his father.
He sighed softly, feeling an indescribable sense of frustration.
"Uncle Pei, Uncle Pei..."
Pei Jichuan suddenly called out to him.
Pei Yuchen looked over and saw him.
"Hmm," he responded, noticing that he didn't look well, and asked, "What's wrong?"
Pei Jichuan bit his lip, glanced at Xiaobao, and hesitated before speaking.
Tie Zhu snorted through his nose: "It's you. It's all because you didn't testify for Xiao Bao that Chen Jinbao thinks Xiao Bao cheated."
"I didn't!" Pei Jichuan said quickly, "I just hadn't seen Xiaobao's handwriting in a long time, so I didn't realize it at the time."
Tie Zhu curled his lip.
Xiao Bao didn't say anything; he didn't care at all whether Pei Jichuan would help him prove his innocence or not.
Pei Yuchen squinted at Pei Jichuan's somewhat flustered expression. "So you actually knew Xiaobao's handwriting, but you didn't expect it to be even better than when you were here, which is why you didn't say anything?"
