Chapter 8 Why Did You Hide It From Me?
Zhu Jingchen whispered a hint to Shen Yan.
"You may have noticed that Song Weiwei has been pampered beyond measure by her parents since she was a child, which has led to her developing a rather willful personality. Her words may sometimes sound uncomfortable or even rude. But if she says something that makes you unhappy, I hope you can try not to take it personally. After all, she's just one of our neighbors, and we may interact more often in our daily lives."
"In the past, Song Weiwei's father was a great help to our family. Because of this, my mother is particularly tolerant of her and often looks at things from her perspective. However, if you feel that she is bullying or maliciously provoking you, please remember to tell me. Even my mother will not sit idly by. Please believe this and do not be afraid or uneasy because of her."
Zhu Jingchen continued, "For now, we'll just live here temporarily. After your household registration and other related paperwork are all sorted out, I'll take you to the school provided by the military. Then, you won't have to face her anymore."
After hearing these words, Shen Yan felt a warmth in her heart and nodded.
"I understand. I will try my best to avoid any further conflict with her."
Shen Yan secretly told herself in her heart that no matter how unpleasant the words Song Weiwei might say in the future, compared to the insults the Zhang family had hurled at her in the past, she should be able to endure it.
"Actually, there's no need to give in deliberately." Zhu Jingchen's eyes glanced back and forth between the obedient and sensible Chen Yan and the spoiled and willful Song Weiwei.
He felt more and more pity for Shen Yan.
On the way back, Zhu Jingchen drove.
As soon as she got in the car, Song Weiwei was like an impatient child. She quickly sat in the passenger seat with a smug smile on her face, silently declaring her special status.
Looking at her smug look, Zhu Jingchen felt embarrassed to let her get off again, so he had to let Chen Yan and his mother sit in the back seat.
Sun Lin obviously noticed the subtle change in the atmosphere, so she enthusiastically took Chen Yan's arm and said, "A few days ago, our Weiwei ran into some trouble, and it was Jingchen who came to her rescue and helped her solve the problem. When she came back, she ran into some more difficult things. That's why you see that now she is always very excited when she sees Jingchen, and wants to stay with him as much as possible."
As soon as the voice fell, Sun Lin turned to look at Shen Yan again, "Let's talk about something else, Xiao Shen, can you tell me how old you are this year?"
"Eighteen years old." Shen Yan answered straightforwardly, but there was a hint of subtle restraint in her voice.
"Oh, you're already a grown-up girl!" Sun Lin continued to ask, "So where is your hometown? Are you still in school? And how did you meet Jingchen?"
This series of questions made Shen Yan a little overwhelmed for a moment.
Just as Chen Yan was about to open her mouth to explain everything, Zhu Jingchen beside her spoke first, answering for her: "Her hometown is in a remote mountainous area, and her parents are long gone. I happened to be on a mission that day and needed to parachute down there, but I accidentally ran into danger. She found me and saved my life. Out of gratitude, I brought her back. I'm planning to let her help me with some household chores first, and then arrange school for her after the household registration procedures are completed."
In fact, Zhu Jingchen had already mentioned this to Chen Yan on the train.
But every time she thought of this, Shen Yan would still feel very embarrassed - it was obvious that it was Zhu Jingchen who saved her life.
"Haha, a country bumpkin from a small mountain village has never been to school, right? Even if I send her to school now, what's the point? It's just a waste of money!"
Song Weiwei immediately sneered, thinking to herself, "How dare such a country bumpkin snatch my man? He's so ignorant of his own limitations."
However, Sun Lin was surprised after hearing this. "You mean she saved you? And you were injured?!"
She leaned over and took a closer look at Zhu Jingchen, her focus completely different from Song Weiwei's.
"Brother Jingchen, are you hurt? Is it really her fault?" After hearing her mother ask this, Song Weiwei suddenly realized what was going on and immediately reached out to lift up his clothes to check his injuries.
"Oh, let me see if your wound is serious."
This action made it inconvenient for Zhu Jingchen to drive.
"It's just a little injury on my leg..." He tried to downplay it.
"Stop the car!" Sun Lin said in a serious tone.
Zhu Jingchen rubbed his solar plexus and felt a severe headache.
Faced with his mother's unquestionable attitude, he finally had to stop the car and carefully show Sun Lin the leg wound that was bandaged fairly well.
Although she couldn't see the specific injuries inside because of several layers of bandages, she could still imagine the tragic situation inside. She couldn't help but feel tears in her eyes, and a layer of mist appeared in her eyes.
"You say it's okay? Look at what your leg has become! And you kept it a secret from me!" Sun Lin's voice trembled.
"Let me drive!" Heartbroken and angry, Sun Lin pushed Zhu Jingchen out of the driver's seat and sat next to it herself.
Song Weiwei, who was standing aside, looked at Zhu Jingchen with reluctance as he sat side by side with Shen Yan again.
"No! Aunt Sun, I want to sit in the back!" Song Weiwei almost shouted to express her dissatisfaction.
"Stop it, Weiwei! What time is it now?" Sun Lin felt sorry for her son and had no mood to care about Song Weiwei. Her tone became stern and her expression serious.
She stepped on the accelerator to the bottom, and the car accelerated forward suddenly, quickly taking everyone back home.
At this moment, she just wants her son to have a good meal and then rest.
Ultimately, Zhu Jingchen was injured because he was saving Song Weiwei.
Hearing the dissatisfaction in Sun Lin's words, Song Weiwei felt wronged. She bit her lip, stopped talking, and lowered her head silently.
All this had little to do with Shen Yan, and she couldn't get a word in. She could only sit quietly in the car, watching the scenes flashing by outside through the window.
"That's a zoo. There are animals like tigers, lions, and pandas in it. I'll take you to see them later." Zhu Jingchen followed Chen Yan's gaze and saw the zoo on the side of the road.
"What is that? It's so tall, and pink." Chen Yan's eyes lit up when she saw a building that was taller than a house.
"That's a Ferris wheel. It's said to be about 60 meters high. When it rotates, it can take people to see the scenery below and above. You can see the whole picture of the city. The view is particularly good." Zhu Jingchen explained patiently.
"This is also an amusement project in the amusement park. There are many fun things in it..."
The two of them chatted in the back and had a very happy time.
