In that spacious and artistic study, Li Muchen sat quietly at the desk, holding an exquisite pen in his hand, staring intently at a stack of papers on the table.
These papers recorded the outline of his carefully conceived novel, and every plot and every character seemed to come alive in his mind.
As the owner of a novel publishing house, Li Muchen has a unique way of writing. He will ask people to create according to his novel outline, and then he will make detailed revisions before finally publishing it.
He knew that some novels had long and complex outlines that took a long time to refine, just like a grand epic poem, which could not be perfectly presented without a year or two of meticulous writing and repeated revisions.
The settings of some novels are relatively simple and monotonous, and can be completed after only three or four months of writing and half a month of revision.
Recalling "Twilight" and "Harry Potter and the Harry Potter Series" that he had previously handed over to the creative team, Li Muchen showed a satisfied smile on his face.
After a long period of polishing, these two works were finally completed and revised. Every detail was carefully carved by him, and every character seemed to have a soul.
Li Muchen raised his head slightly and dialed the number of the person in charge of the publishing house. A respectful voice soon came from the other end of the line: "Hello, Mr. Li! What can I do for you?"
"I have two novels here, 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter and the First Harry Potter Book'. Arrange for them to be photocopied five million copies immediately." Li Muchen's tone was decisive and unquestionable.
The person in charge on the other end of the phone was visibly stunned, his voice filled with surprise and worry. "Mr. Li, this is only the first publication. Isn't photocopying five million copies too much? Isn't the risk too great?"
Li Muchen frowned slightly, with a hint of displeasure in his eyes: "You don't need to question my decision, just listen to my instructions."
The person in charge felt Li Muchen's determination and quickly said, "Okay, Mr. Li, I'll arrange it right away."
After hanging up the phone, Li Muchen leaned back in his chair and fell into deep thought. He knew that his decision might seem risky to others, but he had absolute confidence in the two novels.
He knew in his heart that the global sales of "Harry Potter" would exceed 500 million copies in the future, but this was his secret and he would not tell anyone.
In the publishing house's office, the person in charge gathered the editorial team and conveyed Li Muchen's order. Everyone looked at each other, worried expressions on their faces.
"Five million copies? That's too risky." An editor whispered.
"Yes, they printed so many copies for the first publication. What if they don't sell?" another editor agreed.
The person in charge looked at everyone and said seriously, "We must implement Mr. Li's decision. He has his reasons. We must trust his vision and judgment. Now, everyone, get started and make all the necessary preparations for publication."
Although the editors still had doubts in their hearts, they had no choice but to do as the person in charge asked.
They began to get busy, contacting printing houses, arranging distribution channels, and developing publicity plans. The entire publishing house was filled with an atmosphere of tension and excitement.
Li Muchen continued to think about the future direction of development in his office. He knew that the publishing industry was highly competitive and that if he wanted to gain a foothold in the market, he had to continuously produce excellent works.
He is already planning his next novel, and he wants to make his publishing house a leader in the literary world.
As time went on, the publication of "Twilight" and "Harry Potter and the First Harry Potter Book" proceeded in an orderly manner.
The photocopying of the five million novels was also proceeding intensively. Li Muchen would visit the publishing house from time to time to check on the progress and offer his opinions and suggestions.
In the top-floor office of the luxurious building, sunlight shone on Li Muchen through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, adding a touch of dazzling light to him.
Li Muchen sat in the comfortable leather executive chair, squinting his eyes slightly, as if lost in thought. His fingers tapped the tabletop lightly, making a rhythmic sound, as if urging something.
Suddenly, Li Muchen seemed to remember something important. He reached for the phone on the table and dialed a few numbers skillfully. A respectful voice soon came from the other end of the phone: "Hello, Mr. Li!"
Li Muchen raised the corner of his mouth slightly, his voice steady and powerful: "I want to ask, how is the completion of A Song of Ice and Fire, Goosebumps, and the first part of the Percy Jackson series?"
The person on the other end of the phone seemed stunned for a moment, then quickly replied, "Mr. Li, some are only halfway completed, while some are more than halfway completed."
Li Muchen's eyes flickered with thought after hearing this answer. He leaned back in his chair, imagining the future of these novels.
The grand worldview, complex character relationships and thrilling plot of A Song of Ice and Fire; the thriller and exciting stories of the Goosebumps series; the mysterious mythological world and brave young heroes in the Percy Jackson series.
He seemed to see the sensation these novels caused in the market after their publication, and the scene of readers immersed in these wonderful stories.
"Well, the progress is pretty good." Li Muchen said slowly, "You should keep working hard to ensure quality while speeding up the progress. These novels have great potential, and I believe they will become bestsellers."
The person on the other end of the phone quickly replied, "Mr. Li, we will definitely do our best. Please rest assured that we will do our utmost to complete these works."
Li Muchen nodded with satisfaction and said, "Okay, I'm looking forward to your results. If you have any questions, please feel free to report to me."
