Chapter Five Discussion
"Hey? Third Brother, why are you back?" An Jianmin immediately strode over to greet him after recognizing An Jianping.
Jiang Shanshan, who was whispering with him, suddenly changed her expression.
Thinking back to what they had discussed at the Party Secretary's house, she regretted that Jianmin had wanted to agree immediately, but she wanted to think about it some more.
An Jianping greeted the couple first, but did not directly answer An Jianmin's question.
After all, it wouldn't be appropriate for him to ask or discuss things in such a place.
But seeing An Jianping's appearance, An Jianmin and his wife had the same thought.
He quickly called to his third brother and headed home.
Jiang Shanshan followed behind the two with her lips slightly pursed, but she didn't say a word until they got home.
After the brothers had brewed their tea, she said, "Third Brother, you chat with Jianmin. I'm going to check on the garden."
"Third Brother, why don't you stay home tonight? I'll go catch a chicken and prepare it later."
"No, sister-in-law, I have something to discuss with Jianmin. I'll go back to the city after that!" An Jianping quickly refused.
If they could get some proof from his brother, let alone stay until tonight, even a little while later, I reckon the two of them wouldn't be able to sit still.
Jiang Shanshan didn't try to persuade him further, but said, "Third Brother, don't rush off. I'll go to the garden and pick some vegetables for you to take back to the city later."
This time, An Jianping did not refuse.
After Jiang Shanshan could no longer be seen, An Jianping looked at An Jianmin with some difficulty.
Along the way, An Jianping had actually thought a lot.
But now that he actually had to speak, he didn't know where to begin.
An Jianping didn't know how to start the conversation, but An Jianmin didn't hesitate:
"Third Brother, what do you think about what I mentioned on the phone last time?"
An Jianping was preoccupied with the demolition issue and didn't immediately realize what his younger brother was talking about.
Thinking this way, he asked directly, "Which matter?"
An Jianmin found it strange. He originally thought that his third brother had returned to the village specifically to wait for him because he had already made up his mind.
That's what he thought, but he still spoke with exceptional patience:
"It's about building a house together!"
“If your family is together, we can build three houses together, each with five floors. That’s a really big project.”
"Whether it's negotiating labor contracts or materials, you should be able to get a lot of discounts."
An Jianmin did not mention his nephew's house site.
After all, he knew that his third brother was still thinking of buying a house in the city for his nephew to get married.
If he really has this plan, he'll probably have to subsidize the cost of building the house first.
With his current wealth, helping to build a house wouldn't be a problem.
If we were to build both buildings together, it would be quite troublesome.
Just now, An Jianmin and his wife discussed the contracting of fishponds, mulberry orchards, and gardens at the village secretary's house.
An Jianmin wanted to build a house, since all the agritainment businesses in the village were doing quite well.
Although his fruit shop was doing well, he figured he might as well take the money that was right in front of him.
An Jianping was unaware of his younger brother's thoughts. Looking at An Jianmin's sincere expression, he felt a pang of emotion.
"Jianmin, why did you suddenly decide to build a house?"
Upon hearing An Jianping's question, An Jianmin immediately perked up.
He even felt that this was a sign that his third brother was wavering.
Otherwise, he had mentioned this matter more than once before, but his third brother had never asked about the details!
Of course, An Jianmin temporarily forgot that every time he went to see his third brother, he would proactively reveal all his plans.
After all, in the hearts of the entire An family, An Jianping, who had entered the city early and established himself, was indeed someone they could rely on.
"Now most of the villagers are developing agritourism, and some have planted a small orchard for people to pick fruit."
"Some of them can grow and harvest vegetables."
"Some are fishing and barbecuing."
"Some rely on their skills, using vegetables and fruits grown in their own gardens and orchards, as well as free-range chickens and ducks, to make authentic farm-style dishes."
“Some people have even built swimming pools and added a beach.”
"Some people even use the wasteland on the edge, the stream valley, plus an open space, where they can play, rest, and rent out tents."
"Third Brother, you know that we Shuncheng people can lack anything, but we can't lack food."
"In addition, the bus routes connecting to the counties below were opened two years ago."
“There are direct routes from the city to our village.”
"Whether you're taking the whole family out for a relaxing weekend or just want to have some fun, this place is perfect."
“There are still fish ponds, mulberry groves, and flower fields in the village that have not been leased out.”
"The village party secretary is thinking of contracting out all the land this year, and then bringing the whole village together to achieve large-scale operations!"
“We’ve been there a few times. If the remaining fishponds and mulberry fields weren’t all located near the village, they would probably have been taken over by someone long ago.”
“What I’m hesitating about now is building a house on that plot of land. There are no other houses around, and the road might not be very convenient.”
The rest is self-explanatory; An Jianping already knew.
After all, An Jianmin had consulted him more than once since last year.
In the past, An Jianping simply hadn't asked such detailed questions.
An Jianping couldn't help but carefully observe the expression on An Jianmin's face:
It seems there's no news about him?
Was it simply a matter of good timing?
An Jianping thought to himself.
"Third Brother? What do you think?" An Jianmin asked again, "I know you're a little busy right now because of my nephew's wedding."
"But it's okay. Although my husband and I don't have a lot of money, we can still build your house while we're at it."
An Jianmin wasn't being overly generous to his third brother.
They have six siblings.
There must be a reason why the two of them have the best relationship.
Now it is An Jianmin who wants to help Third Brother.
But in the past, it was always An Jianping who helped him.
After thinking about it for a long time, An Jianping had made up his mind.
He stood up decisively, walked directly out of the courtyard, and observed the surroundings.
Then they went into An Jianmin's house and carefully inspected almost every room.
An Jianmin was somewhat confused and was about to ask his third brother what he was looking for.
He saw that An Jianping had already sat down next to him.
He lowered his voice and said, "Jianmin... when your niece was working at the hotel, she heard a guest on the top floor say that a logistics center was going to be built here."
"It seems that the neighboring village was expropriated the year before last? And more than two-thirds of it has already been expropriated."
"What's left is probably not enough."
"Logistics center?" An Jianmin's eyes widened instantly. He finally understood why his third brother had been looking around earlier.
If he had such news, he wouldn't dare let it fall into the ears of any third party.
“Yes!” An Jianping nodded affirmatively, then added, “You’ve been asking me about building a house since last year, and you even called me this year.”
"I thought you had some news too!"
An Jianmin immediately shook his head frantically.
What information could he possibly have?
He's just a fruit seller. If there were any news about him, it would probably spread like wildfire throughout the village and beyond.
However, An Jianmin was quick-witted, and he directly called out to his third brother:
"Let's go, let's ride our motorcycles over there and take a look."
The two villages are not far apart, and it has been almost two years since that land was requisitioned.
Logically speaking, it should be almost finished by now.
Especially considering the news his niece heard.
