Chapter Twenty-Six: Forgetting
When An Songlin acted completely unpredictably, Xuan Ying readily agreed to go with him.
Thus, the wedding entered its second half.
After a busy day, they finally saw off the group of people who had come to make a ruckus in the wedding night. The An Songyu sisters were so exhausted that they collapsed onto the bed.
"Getting married is really not easy!" An Songxiang sighed as she lay next to her sister.
"You're not even a bride yet, and you already think it's not easy?" An Songyu replied lazily.
She was so tired that she didn't even want to move a finger.
“That’s true!” An Songxiang thought about it and had to agree.
Then she reminded her, "Sis, you have to go to work tomorrow. Why don't you just go wash up and go straight to bed?"
"Let me rest for a while, I really can't move anymore," An Songyu pleaded, without moving an inch.
An Songxiang wasn't much better, so they simply stopped urging him for now.
After lying down for a while, An Songxiang started chatting casually:
"My aunt and uncle said that holding a wedding in the village would be even more troublesome."
"Like us now, the wedding procession and the wedding ceremony only take one day."
"The village will hold the event for at least two days."
“We actually held it for two days!” An Songyu reminded her sister, “The ritual last night can’t be ignored!”
It's just that their family lives in the city, making it inconvenient for them to visit relatives and friends.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken until yesterday afternoon to arrive.
That would naturally make it even more lively.
After thinking about it carefully, An Songxiang realized that it was indeed true.
As a result, her dislike for the troublesome nature of marriage deepened even further.
An Songyu smiled and turned to look at her.
Thinking about her younger sister, it's true that she'll get married relatively late in the future.
After she and her brother got married and had children, An Songxiang became the person her parents worried about the most.
Especially after turning twenty-five, there are blind dates all year round.
The two sisters later laughed together about how they could compile a list of all the blind dates she had been on.
I bet the notebook is too thin to fit everything!
An Songxiang didn't want to continue the conversation, so she simply asked about something else: "Why didn't your classmate come today?"
"Classmate? Who is it? Yu Yingying? She's at work today!" An Songyu answered without thinking at all.
An Songxiang couldn't help but roll her eyes at her sister.
Was she pretending not to know, or was she changing the subject?
But An Songxiang had no intention of granting her wish: "Who do you think it would be?"
An Songyu was stunned for a moment, and then she was dumbfounded when she realized what was happening.
She stiffly turned her head to look at her sister, forcing a terrifying smile onto her face:
"Um, if... I said I forgot to tell him."
"It should be alright, right?"
An Songxiang turned her head in disbelief, looking at her sister and asking for confirmation again and again.
After confirming that it was indeed her own sister who had done such an absurd thing, she had nothing more to say.
After what seemed like an eternity, An Songyu nudged her younger sister.
"Um, do you think it would be awkward if he asked and I said the wedding had already taken place?"
"So what do you want to say?" An Songxiang asked, feeling somewhat weary.
She had always found it baffling that her older sister, who had been admitted to university, was still busy dating.
But now that I think about it, it's probably good that her sister is dating sooner rather than later.
Otherwise, given her personality, she might not find anyone willing to marry her after she leaves the innocent world of school.
An Songyu lay helplessly on the bed, stretching her body and letting out a long sigh.
You can't blame her!
She had only ever dared to dream about being reborn before; she had never actually experienced it.
That's why it's taken her so long to fully integrate her memories from before her rebirth with her life after her rebirth.
Did she inform her boyfriend about her brother's wedding date?
An Songyu really has no memory at all.
Twenty years is simply too long.
Don't even mention such a small matter, it's a big deal... Well, An Songyu does remember the time when she formally introduced her boyfriend to her family.
It seems that it really was at her older brother's wedding.
Thinking about it now, it doesn't seem like it's really suitable?
"You forgot to say it, and that's it. It's already this late, and you're only now suddenly bringing up whether it's suitable or not?" An Songxiang was speechless.
An Songyu guiltily shut her mouth.
Wasn't she just thinking about it in her heart?
Why is that bastard muttering again?
The next day at noon, An Songyu calculated Jian Ziyu's rest time before making a phone call.
Chien Tzu-yu now has a mobile phone.
An Songyu vaguely remembered that it was a Motorola flip phone.
It was a reward given to Chien Tzu-yu by his father when he was admitted to Tainan University.
Chien Tzu-yu always cherished her phones; even after using them throughout her university years, her phone still worked smoothly.
He only carefully put this phone away after he got a new one.
She saw them later when she was cleaning the house.
The phone rang only a few times before Chien Tzu-yu answered it.
His still clear voice interrupted An Songyu's reverie:
"Xiaoyu, are you working the morning or afternoon shift today?"
"Yes, what about you? Have you had lunch yet?" An Songyu suppressed her guilty conscience and asked about Jian Ziyu's daily life as usual.
"Not yet! I just got back from the construction site and then I got your call. Let's go eat after we finish talking," Jian Ziyu replied honestly.
An Songyu subconsciously replied:
"Why don't you go have lunch first? Don't you eat lunch in the cafeteria?"
"If we go too late, there might not be any food left!"
Without hesitation, Chien Tzu-yu shook her head, then realized that the two were on the phone!
He quickly replied, "No need, I'll just eat something simple later."
"Xiaoyu, we haven't had a proper conversation for days, let's chat for a bit today!"
An Songyu was both surprised and disappointed.
She had almost forgotten that the young Jian Ziyu hadn't yet developed the habit of discussing matters openly, as she and her husband would do years later.
Chien Tzu-yu pulled me aside and we chatted for almost half an hour.
An Songyu suddenly realized that after the two of them had been chatting for so long, she had completely forgotten the purpose of her phone call.
Thinking it over, she quickly coughed lightly and began to speak with some difficulty:
"Um, Tzuyu, yesterday was my brother's wedding."
Jian Ziyu stiffened slightly, swallowed hard, and quickly said:
"I'm sorry, Xiaoyu, I've been really busy lately and forgot!"
"I'm so damn stupid, I didn't even remember something this important."
An Songyu was somewhat bewildered. She clearly remembered that in their contact after her rebirth, she didn't seem to have mentioned it at all!
"Xiaoyu? Xiaoyu? Are you angry? Xiaoyu, I'm so sorry, I really am! I really am!" As she spoke, Jian Ziyu couldn't help but pat her head.
They are currently laying the groundwork for their project.
As an intern, he was practically a handyman on the project.
Today I'm being directed by the construction worker to inspect earthwork, and tomorrow I'll be dragged along by the surveyor to help him hold the instruments.
Turning his head, he was asked by someone in the office to help him deliver some documents.
On construction sites, there's no concept of Sundays or public holidays.
This caused Chien Tzu-yu to often forget how much time had passed.
In addition, just before the Lunar New Year, his girlfriend briefly mentioned that her brother was getting married.
After starting their internships this year, the two had conflicting schedules due to their different rest periods.
We've had much less contact with each other lately.
During the phone call, she didn't seem to like talking about her family matters anymore.
So much so that Chien Tzu-yu completely forgot about it.
