Chapter 109 The dog, bought by Boss Nie!

Chen Rou asked, "You still live on the second floor?"

This meant she was refusing him entry to her room. Nie Zhao said, "Of course."

"I'll come down to find you around ten o'clock," Chen Rou said. Seeing the elevator doors open, but Nie Zhao remained motionless, she asked, "The elevator's here, aren't you going down?"

Nie Zhao shifted his elbow to the temple and smiled gently: "A husband should always escort his wife into the house first."

He had quite a few fancy tricks up his sleeve, but Chen Rou wasn't interested in such mushy formalities. She turned around and went back to her room. After she entered, Nie Zhao limped into the elevator, leaned against the wall, went downstairs, and slowly walked back to his room.

As Chen Rou entered the room, the maid, Sister Chang, pointed to the flowers on the dressing table and said, "Third Madam, these were given to us by Third Master."

Chen Rou remained habitually wary: "I can read, I can read the cards myself."

When Sister Chang was about to leave, she said, "It's okay, you don't need to come into my bedroom. I can clean it myself."

Sister Chang also felt wronged, because it was Nie Zhao who specifically instructed her to tell San Taihua who sent the flowers.

Anyway, being a maid is tough.

Chen Rou took a relaxing bath, then watched the news on TV for a while while wearing a bathrobe on the sofa. It was almost ten o'clock when she changed into a loose T-shirt and shorts and went downstairs.

As soon as she stepped downstairs, she heard a few barks and a large dog ran towards her with a tumbling sound. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was the drug-sniffing dog, Chasing Wind, that she had seen at the police station last time. Its two front legs had been blown off, so it shouldn't be able to run away, but she didn't know who had customized a two-wheeled auxiliary machine for it.

Zhui Feng wasn't very good at using mechanical aids yet, and he was about to crash into the stairs when Chen Rou quickly reached out and shouted, "Watch out!"

Seeing Uncle Ming and two of Nie Rong's bodyguards in the living room, she asked, "Did Third Master buy this dog?"

Uncle Ming smiled and said, "Third Aunt guessed right. It was indeed Third Master who instructed me to buy it."

Bodyguard Ahui picked up the dog and said, "I welded these wheels, but they don't seem good enough. I'll go and take another look."

Chen Rou picked up the dog, stroked its fur a few times, and then handed it to Ahui: "Go ahead, remember to feed it well."

She then asked Uncle Ming, "The Chasing Wind has an owner. Is the owner willing to give it to us? Did they pay us?"

Actually, the original owner of Chasing Wind, the injured policeman, is still crying sadly at home. Moreover, Uncle Ming had been negotiating with the policeman for almost a week to buy it, offering up to 80,000 dollars but the policeman wouldn't sell. In the end, after being persuaded by other officers, the policeman only accepted 8,000 dollars and reluctantly gave away the dog. But Uncle Ming said, "Its owner gave away the dog voluntarily, and we also paid for it. It was a very pleasant transaction for both the buyer and seller."

Even though Chen Rou had experienced a lot, she had never been a rich person and couldn't imagine how sad the original owner of Zhui Feng was at this moment. She sincerely said, "Call that police officer again and tell him that I will definitely take good care of Zhui Feng. Please also tell your family to take good care of it. I will have breakfast with it tomorrow."

Uncle Ming said at the right moment, "It is a testament to Third Master's love for you, and our whole family will definitely protect it."

"A testament to love"—why does that sound so cheesy?

Nie Rong also lived on the second floor, but she and Nie Zhao lived on opposite sides of the living room, with separate staircases on each side. Since it was late at night, Chen Rou didn't want to make things uncomfortable for herself, so she went directly to Nie Zhao's room.

Chen Rou was naturally delighted to suddenly have a dog, especially one she really liked.

As soon as she reached the door, Kwong opened it: "Hello, Third Aunt!" He added, "I'm going to rest now!"

Chen Rou nodded and watched Kuang Zai enter the next room before turning back. She had thought Nie Zhao would be sitting on the sofa, but when she came to the door, she saw him lying on his side on the bed in his pajamas, holding a remote control in his hand.

The television was on the side, and he was watching the news. When he saw her come in, he turned it off.

He was lying on his side. What should Chen Rou do? Sitting on the sofa was too far away, and sitting on the edge of the bed would be strange.

Nie Zhao, with a serious expression, patted the bed and said, "You're tired too, let's talk while lying down."

What Chen Rou knows now is that this guy may look sickly, but he's quite bold. And if she lies down, isn't that a clear indication that she wants to do something with him?

“Come here. I know that although you’re married to me, you’re not willing to fulfill the duties of a wife. I won’t force you. I’m a gentleman, and I keep my word.” Nie Zhao said, patting the headboard pillow.

He'd already said that if he dared to make any sudden moves, Chen Rou should beat him up.

She leaned against the pillows and half-reclined on the edge of the bed: "Tell me, is there anything else I don't know?"

Nie Zhao propped his head up with one elbow and fiddled with the crank in the other, saying, "Your birth mother had just come from the mainland and didn't speak Cantonese very well, nor did she know anything about Hong Kong. She met Er Hong and Dong Ying at a hair salon. I don't know if you understand, but they always wanted to outdo each other, so they deliberately challenged your birth mother, just to gamble and see who could win her over. And the whole of Kowloon knew about their bet, but no one dared to tell your birth mother."

If that's the case, then the original owner's birth had nothing to do with love.

The original owner's birth mother was a ballet dancer; she must have been very beautiful and had a wonderful temperament.

But having just smuggled herself into Hong Kong, she was targeted by the sons of two powerful figures, who didn't even speak Cantonese, and became a bargaining chip at the gambling table. That wasn't love, but possessiveness.

It's quite surreal to think about it: a girl from the mainland has just arrived in the glamorous world of Hong Kong and is being pursued relentlessly by two young men. And since they are so rich, they naturally use all sorts of methods, like sending flowers and dogs, just like Nie Zhao did.

It is said that the two of them pursued each other in various ways. One of them proposed with a sachet left by his mother, while the other brought a jade bracelet left by his mother. In short, they forced the girl to choose one of them.
