Chapter 18: Returning to Hong Kong!

Before she got married, she addressed the Nie brothers as "uncle," and since they hadn't held a wedding yet, she hadn't changed her address.

Nie Yao was startled: "How could it be you? Arou, where are you? Azhao and Ahan, are they with you too?"

Chen Rou countered, "Second Uncle, what do you think? Where would we be?"

Meanwhile, Mei Lu and Nie Rong, the couple, were trying to persuade Nie Zhao to break off the engagement while also trying to bring Nie Yao and Chen Rou together.

However, on the surface, Nie Yao has always been polite and restrained. Although he cares for Chen Rou very much, he has never overstepped his bounds.

Just a few days ago, Nie Zhao disregarded his father's advice and registered his marriage with Chen Rou.

On the very day they registered, they were intercepted and kidnapped by pirates while having dinner on a yacht.

The wealthy can live a life of luxury, going wherever they want and doing whatever they please. As long as time permits, taking a flight or booking a luxury cruise for a round-the-world trip is nothing new. So, even though the golden 72 hours for rescue had passed after Nie Zhao and Chen Rou were kidnapped, Nie Yao still didn't realize that his younger brother had been kidnapped.

He must have been sleeping. He snorted and said in a dejected tone, "You guys went to the casino in Macau, didn't you? Did you have a lot of fun? It's been days, and Ah Zhao hasn't called home once. My dad is very unhappy."

After a moment of silence, he said, "Arou, you and Zhao are getting married soon, right? At the wedding, you'll have to change how you address me. You can't call me 'Second Uncle' anymore. I'll also..." He hesitated for a moment, then added, "I'll give you a big red envelope."

Although Chen Rou lost her parents at a young age and had been serving in the military, she had experienced a lot and had a clear understanding of the world.

I heard that Nie Zhao hadn't contacted his family for three days. Instead of worrying that his son might have been kidnapped, his father thought he was having too much fun and had forgotten to come home. She also had to sigh: "Having a stepmother is indeed the same as having a stepfather."

It should be noted that Hong Kong's economy has been sluggish in recent years, and the Nie family's parent company has suffered heavy losses. It is only because Nie Zhao is good at making money in the European company that the parent company can continuously inject funds into it. This has allowed the Nie family to remain strong and stand firm when other companies have collapsed. Moreover, Nie Yao would occasionally gamble a couple of times during holidays, but Nie Zhao never participated in card games or gambled.

But as a father, Nie Rong was not worried about his son being kidnapped. Instead, he thought that his son could gamble for three days and three nights in a row, which shows how deep his prejudice and misunderstanding of his son was.

The father, whose most capable and money-making son was on the verge of death, suspected him of gambling and sulked at home.

Such a ridiculous and pathetic thing probably only happens in wealthy families.

Chen Rou ignored the underlying sarcasm in Nie Yao's tone and focused on the important matter: "We've been kidnapped!"

There was a full three-second pause on the other end of the phone before a voice came through: "What?"

Nie Yao then said, "Arou, you must be joking!"

Chen Rou stared coldly at Tiger, who was writhing in pain, then curled her lips into a smile. She deliberately sniffed and said in a weak voice, "But thankfully, we've escaped. We should arrive in Hong Kong by midnight tomorrow, Second Uncle..."

Nie Yao roared on the other end of the phone: "Where are you now? I'll bring my bodyguards to find you right away. How are A-Zhao? How are A-Han? Are you hurt? Don't be afraid. Tell me who the kidnapper is, and I'll find a gang leader to negotiate the ransom with him right away. Don't worry, our family has money. As long as everyone is safe, I'll pay the ransom!"

As a professional investigator, Chen Rou couldn't discern from the other party's reaction and tone that he was the perpetrator or the mastermind. On the contrary, his impatience and anxiety were the natural reactions one would have when faced with panic and threats. If he really was the mastermind, then Chen Rou should just praise his acting skills.

His sincerity is exactly what a qualified older brother who deeply loves his younger brother should have.

But Chen Rou was not moved by him and chose to trust him. Instead, she wanted to use him to lure the snake out of its hole, find the inside manipulator of the He family, and then pull out the big boss behind the scenes and bring him to justice.

So she said, "Second Uncle, don't worry, we'll arrive in Hong Kong at midnight tomorrow night and will dock at Central Harbour."

Nie Yao quickly asked again, "What kind of boat are you on? Which direction did you come from? I'll take my yacht and bodyguards out to sea to pick you up; it'll be faster."

Chen Rou said, "It's a passenger ship traveling on the route from Macau to Hong Kong."

He added, "Second Uncle, my younger uncle is seriously injured and needs to see a doctor immediately. You must remember to arrange a hospital for him. Hello... is the signal bad? Hello... Second Uncle, can you hear me?"

This phone uses a U.S. military satellite signal, which is extremely strong even on the high seas.

Nie Yao really thought Chen Rou's phone had no signal, so he kept saying "hello, hello" in an attempt to talk to her a few more times.

Only Tiger, who was lying on the ground barely alive, knew that Chen Rou was playing a trick.

She didn't lose phone signal; she just didn't want to talk to Nie Yao anymore, so she used this as an excuse to hang up.

After hanging up the phone, she immediately turned off her phone, opened the door, and said to the Taiwanese man waiting outside, "Go tell Song Yuanchao that the VOR is 5 strokes to the right. Drive at full speed for half an hour, and then shift the VOR to the left by 7 strokes."

She was using terminology for navigating a ship during a voyage.

The Taiwanese man felt a little doubtful and uneasy because they were sailing on the vast open sea, and their coordinates and routes were pre-set. If they deviated from the pre-set route, they could easily get lost on the open sea.

If it encounters another thunderstorm or giant waves, this medical ship will be capsized and torn apart by the waves, leaving nothing behind.

Therefore, it is very dangerous, or even foolish, to deviate from the course during a voyage.
