Uncle Ming saw Chen Rou frowning, coughed, and turned his gaze toward the door.
The main gate of the courtyard is right across from the house. Although there are three walkways and garden landscaping, even with the gate open, it would be difficult for reporters outside to take pictures of the house. However, there are two paparazzi in the trees in the distance.
With a high-powered scope, they could film Chen Rou all the way through the open gate.
She couldn't very well kick her father-in-law out in front of the reporters, but she didn't know the situation at home, so she looked at Uncle Ming and asked, "Uncle Ming, what do you think?"
Uncle Ming said with a smile, "The room originally prepared for the master has been turned into the madam's gym, so it's not easy to move. There are empty rooms on the third floor, but the temperature is not as stable as on the second floor. However, there is one empty room, and the fourth floor is also completely empty."
Nie Rong certainly wanted to stay in the master bedroom on the second floor, but when he heard that Chen Rou had taken it, he couldn't ask for it. Then he heard that the entire fourth floor was empty, meaning it was unfurnished and deserted. How could he possibly stay there?
But the third floor is probably where the children's small bedrooms are. Normally, why would he want to live there?
He is the patriarch of the Nie family, yet he squeezes into a small bedroom meant for a child?
But in order to avoid Cheung Tze-keung, he didn't care anymore: "Let's go to the third floor, Ah-Kuan, go put the luggage down."
Seeing that A Yuan refused to be held by the maid and was squirming around, he clapped his hands and stepped forward: "Come on, let Grandpa hold you."
A-Yuan wanted his father, not this strange old man. He tried to dodge and even did a somersault. The maid thought the old man could actually hold him and offered to give him to her, but Chen Rou took the child and asked, "Did you call him Grandpa?"
Seeing that A Yuan was still being disobedient, she pointed at his nose and said, "See this? This is Grandpa. Call him Grandpa."
When his mother scolded him, A-Yuan became obedient, but he couldn't call his grandfather "Dad." The child pouted and said, "Dad."
Chen Rou added, "Grandpa will be living with us from now on. A Yuan is still young, so he doesn't need to get up early every day to greet Grandpa. But he should be polite when he sees Grandpa and remember to say hello to him."
Just then, Nie Rong stretched out his hand, and his mother looked very serious. A Yuan then pouted and said, "Oh."
Nie Rong then went into the living room and said with a smile, "Arou, as expected of your mother who always praised you, you are a good child. In this Nie family, you are the only one worthy of being the mistress of the house."
He was not a qualified father to Nie Zhao, and Nie Zhao himself knew this best.
Since he had never loved Nie Zhao, he could only use morality, filial piety, and grand principles to bind him. When Nie Zhao deliberately confronted him or gave him the cold shoulder, he could only internalize it. However, Chen Rou was emotionless in both her treatment of him and her education of the children. She was also willing to teach the children manners and rules. Nie Rong truly admired her.
Ah Yuan is really funny. He's such a tiny little guy, yet he runs around holding onto the sofa, patting here and fiddling with there. Oh, and apparently he doesn't like to drink water. If you want him to drink water, you have to turn on the TV and watch it while he drinks.
Looking at him, Nie Rong couldn't help but think again. Nie Yao was already thirty. He wondered if Nie Yao had found a girl he liked on the mainland, and whether he would get married soon. Since Nie Yao was more well-behaved, his children would probably be even cuter.
This old man not only moved himself, but also brought his dog, Chasing Wind, with him. With his grandson around his knees, his old dog by his side, and a daughter-in-law who dared to challenge Cheung Tze-keung on a bicycle, he had nothing to worry about and lived a carefree life.
However, when Nie Zhao got out of the car after returning from his business trip and heard what Uncle Ming had said, he started tearing his tie as he went upstairs.
After taking off his coat and washing his hands, he entered the dining room and saw that his father was sitting in his own chair, which made his face even longer.
The only consolation was that this time he finally saw his real father come back. A Yuan arched his back and climbed out of the high chair. Nie Zhao was reaching out, and he was climbing. The little guy actually remembered his father and called him so clearly. Moreover, he was smiling when he hugged his father.
But after looking closely at her father's face for a while, she pouted and started crying, hugging her father's neck.
Nie Zhao quickly patted his son: "Don't cry, don't cry, Daddy's back now."
Holding her son gently, she said, "You miss Daddy. Daddy, please don't go out alone anymore, okay?"
What children want is not the love of one person, but the love of everyone.
Moreover, A Yuan has always remembered his father being there every day since birth, yet he was suddenly gone for such a long time.
That brat! He's even better at being affectionate than his mother; he just burst into tears.
Nie Rong found it very interesting, and he was in a good mood. He smiled and said, "It's really strange. I have three sons, but none of them have ever been as affectionate with me as A Yuan is with A Zhao. Is it because we don't have a strong bond as father and son?"
Chen Rou just smiled and didn't reply. Nie Han, who was also eating at the same table, said, "It shouldn't be, Grandpa. I think you probably haven't changed your son's diapers or fed him. My uncle is different. He hand-washed A Yuan's diapers."
Shouldn't the maid be responsible for washing diapers and breastfeeding?
But whatever, Nie Rong couldn't stand his son, but he didn't say anything, after all, he was a former wave that had already been swept away by the tide.
He stood up and said, "You guys take your time eating. I'm full and need to go digest."
...
Although Nie Zhao endured it all, he remained silent.
After finishing his meal, he went upstairs, put his son on the bed, and tossed his briefcase onto the sofa. Without saying a word, he watched as Chen Rou sat down on the sofa, knelt on the floor, and buried his head in her lap.
The fact that his father moved in was actually a very small matter, like a grain of sand in Nie Zhao's life.
But that one grain of sand just happened to be grinding in Nie Zhao's eye, making him irritable, uncomfortable, and unwell.
He still had a lot to talk about with Chen Rou about things on the mainland, and he had seen some new things, but he didn't want to say a word right now. He just wanted to lie there quietly, close his eyes, and rest.
