Today will be the most dangerous day for Yu Xiaoyuan and his son.
Since all the capable bodyguards were not available, Nie Zhao naturally did not assign any work and simply stayed in the guest room.
The little one is growing at a visible speed, and at the same time becoming more and more naughty. He wants to ride a big horse, swing on a swing, and ride on his father's shoulders to reach the ceiling. At this moment, his wife is getting ready, and Nie Zhao is holding his son, looking utterly hopeless, accompanying his son to explore the bare ceiling. The little guy's drool is falling on his father's hair.
Compared to the disheveled father and son, Mom already looked absolutely gorgeous even before she dressed up.
She was going to the police station, so of course she had to wear formal attire. And what she was wearing was the kind of black suit her father usually wore, but underneath she wore a cream-colored silk undershirt, and she had sparkling blue jewelry around her neck.
The same goes for the wristwatch; although it has a pearl-like exterior, it contains blue, sparkling diamonds inside.
She doesn't wear high heels, so A-Yuan has no recollection of those shoes.
But as soon as he sees his mother put on her canvas shoes, he knows she's going out. He wriggles his little bottom, urging his father to hurry up and follow. But after his mother kisses him and says goodbye, his father doesn't follow.
Ah Yuan roared, "Awooo?"
Seeing that her father still wouldn't follow her, she twisted and turned on his head, wailing and making a fuss.
Nie Zhao had no choice but to pick the child up and pat and coax him, but the child refused, pointing to the door and saying, "The wine, the wine, Daddy."
But how could that be? There are still countless people in the police station who might be infected today. What if someone comes looking for revenge against society, targeting Nie Zhao, this blatantly wealthy man? Someone as afraid of death as him wouldn't even leave the house today.
Chen Rou also had to go to another room to have her makeup and hair done by the makeup artist who was waiting for her.
Of course, the only person accompanying her was her driver and secretary, Anjie.
Arriving too early would mean waiting for others, so she looked at her watch and patiently waited for the right time.
In the West Building of the Police Station, during the morning rush hour, Inspector Cheung was hurrying along, a croissant in one hand and a coffee in the other, talking on the phone as he walked. He didn't speak, just listened silently to the person on the other end of the line.
He naturally took the private elevator reserved for high-ranking officials; ordinary police officers wouldn't come. Only when the guards saw him arrive would they pull the rope, press the elevator button, and salute him.
He caught a glimpse of someone behind him out of the corner of his eye, assuming it was a subordinate, so he gestured to stop them, meaning he was busy and needed to come down to talk. He then said to the person on the phone, "Come down to talk."
He had a bad feeling and turned around: "Inspector Chen?"
He stepped back a step and casually pointed: "Sorry, you need to go that way."
There's an elevator across from the lobby, used by regular police officers for commuting, and it's currently packed with officers.
Logically, Chen Ke should have gone to the other side if he knew what was good for him, but he didn't leave and instead followed Zhang Sir into the elevator.
Inspector Zhang didn't speak to him, but beckoned to the guards and said in a contemptuous tone, "Take him away and teach him some manners."
Because Chen Ke was always so good-natured, Zhang Sir thought he was just being foolish and should leave. But Chen Ke pressed the close button, shutting the elevator off and blocking the guards outside. He pressed the button for the 16th floor, and when the elevator started moving, he turned around and said, "Zhang Sir, we are a unit directly under the Ministry of Public Security. Our administrative levels are about the same."
If we're really talking about administrative rank, Chen Ke is way higher than Director Zhang; it's like comparing heaven and earth.
But he hasn't returned yet, so Zhang Sir muttered to himself, "Insane."
But he let it go and endured it. As he walked up to the 16th floor, he muttered, "The meeting is on the 17th floor. You're welcome."
But Chen Ke caught up with him and said, "Zhang sir, there are some case investigations that I need to discuss with you."
He followed Inspector Cheung toward the office, which made Inspector Cheung very angry.
He wanted to get rid of Chen Ke, so he said coldly, "Go and report to your direct superior first, and get approval at each level."
Seeing that Chen Ke was still following him, he got angry and stopped: "Didn't the mainlanders teach you how to do things? Or are you deaf?"
They happened to arrive at the middle of the West Building, the Secretariat. This area is divided into cubicles, where secretaries from various departments work, mostly women. Early in the morning, they were all tidying up their workstations, preparing breakfast, and having coffee.
Upon hearing Director Zhang swearing, everyone stood up.
Inspector Cheung pointed at his secretary and, seizing the opportunity, vented his anger: "Miss Tsui, teach him a lesson, this is so early in the morning..." spoiling the mood.
Miss Xu rushed over with documents in her hand, trying to take Chen Ke away, but Chen Ke bypassed her and followed Zhang Sir directly into the office, his attitude as if he were courting death: "According to the agreement, we can communicate directly."
How could I possibly run into such a jinx so early in the morning? Inspector Zhang is so angry he could die.
But if the agreement between the two parties is strictly followed, then Chen Ke and Zhang Sir would be considered colleagues.
While smashing documents to vent his dissatisfaction, Zhang Sir muttered, "Speak up, do I have to ask you to speak?"
The room temperature was wrong, and the window was letting in drafts. In fact, if Zhang Sir hadn't been paying attention to Chen Ke, he would have noticed and immediately pressed the alarm to let people in. All of Chen Rou's previous efforts would have been in vain.
Chen Ke is not a good actor; if his face weren't so dark, Inspector Zhang would have noticed his abnormality long ago.
Fortunately, he had a dark complexion and was rather dull-witted, which made him seem rather simple-minded, yet perfectly normal.
Seeing that Inspector Cheung was about to put out the coffee, Chen Ke rushed to take it, saying, "Let me put it out for you."
"It's just putting out a coffee, do you need help?" Zhang Sir felt something was off, but he had been tormented by Zhang Ziqiang lately and was so irritable that he didn't think too much about it. He just made an excuse to throw things around and said, "Move aside, can't you see I'm tidying up?"
