Colonel Rango not only lost face, he lost face big time.
Because he was too tall and would block the Queen's view, the photographer had to raise the camera position to get a shot of the Queen. As a result, he was photographed as 1.7 meters tall when he was actually 190cm tall, and his bald patch was also exposed.
Colonel Lango was even angrier and more regretful than Huo Qi, that tough nut to crack.
Because a long time ago, Sir James had mentioned that Huo Qi was a potential threat and that it would be better to get rid of him as soon as possible.
Colonel Rango, however, stood on the side of a soldier and felt that assassination was dishonorable, so he did not approve the assassination operation.
Otherwise, Huo Qi's good partner in the Flying Tigers, Bob, was a member of the Military Intelligence Bureau, and he would have killed him and put him aside long ago.
Huo Qi is still alive and can stand here today, all thanks to Colonel Lango's kindness.
But he sat there casually in the audience, his eyes like a wolf's, making Colonel Rango feel guilty and watching him forget his lines.
His speech was halting and he even misspoke several times. He nearly tripped and fell down the steps. Lieutenant Colonel Wali, who was supposed to come up and help him, was lost in thought and had to be helped by Battalion Commander Zhao.
What angered him even more was that when he glanced at Battalion Commander Zhao and then at Chen Rou while he was speaking, he immediately understood Chen Rou's stance, as a soldier who had joined the army in his teens and risen to the rank of colonel.
Looking across the audience, Colonel Rango recalled his inauguration ceremony four years ago.
Back then, the ratio of British to Hong Kong people in the audience was four to six, and it's only been four years. Now, there are very few British people in the audience; it's almost entirely locals.
Especially the senior officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who were originally six to four, six British and four Chinese, are now all local natives. Could the death of the six senior officers on the night of the Tamar incident have been an accident?
He shoved Battalion Commander Zhao aside, walked through the audience, his gaze sweeping over the faces of Chief Justice Edward, Chief Inspector Gu Sir, Sir Ding, and various district councilors, finally settling on the face of Chen Rou, the wife of the richest man, Nie Zhao.
Staring at her, he picked up his military cap, held it in his hand, turned around with a heavy gaze, and strode away.
Those who remained at the scene were all acquaintances, and it was rare for them to get together. At this moment, Sir Ding suddenly took action, shaking the hand of Battalion Commander Zhao and asking him about his well-being. He repeatedly inquired whether the advance company lacked anything and whether they needed anyone's help.
District councilors also crowded around, chatting animatedly with Battalion Commander Zhao.
As Inspector Gu saw Nie Zhao and his wife about to leave, he rushed over to whisper a few words to Nie Zhao.
What he wanted to talk about was a problem that was currently causing headaches for everyone in the police leadership: Huo Qi, or Huo Sir.
Of course, it wasn't about investigating him. In fact, several times when Detective Zhao was about to go to his house, he was stopped halfway. The ones who stopped him were the gang of thugs from Kowloon. They spontaneously stood guard and wouldn't allow the officers to pass by Huo Qi's building. That building still belonged to Master Er, and the property management also helped to block them. They couldn't see Huo Qi at all.
Inspector Gu meant that since Flying Tigers Captain Zhao Sir was promoted to Chief Detective, the position of captain has been vacant. He wanted Huo Qi to come back, which was also the wish of the people and citizens, but he couldn't see him.
Moreover, Huo Qi's phone was out of service and could not be reached. He knew that Nie Zhao was Huo Qi's backer. He talked to Nie Zhao to test the waters and see if Nie Zhao thought that the position of Flying Tigers captain was not good enough.
So what does he want to do? Become the Deputy Commissioner of Police and Second Detective, or does he want to join the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB)?
The current problem is that although his hair is very white, he is only 37 years old, which is too young to be the top cop of the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau.
Some veteran officers may not have made any great contributions, but they have certainly worked hard, so they should receive a higher salary when they retire.
But he misunderstood. Nie Zhao was not Huo Qi's financial backer, nor did he intend to manipulate the judiciary.
He's a businessman who can use money to settle many things, but all within the law. If he wants to interfere with the judiciary, then he's a gang.
Nie Zhao needs to clarify this point: "Gu Sir, you must have misunderstood. In my family, only Jiajun is somewhat familiar with Huo Sir. My wife, Ahan, Ayu, and I don't have any private dealings with Huo Sir. Besides, Jiajun also..."
Inspector Gu nodded repeatedly: "I've heard from the junior officers that they broke up."
Regarding the gay issue, Nie Zhao couldn't defend Nie Jiajun either, and could only say, "I'm sorry, I can't help you with that."
What should I do if my boyfriend broke up with me and I am in Hong Kong but the police can't contact me?
But just then, Mrs. Nie, Miss Chen Rou, who was walking beside her, suddenly said, "Why don't we just give him the case to work on?"
Mr. Gu didn't hear clearly and stopped to ask, "Mrs. Nie, what did you say?"
Chen Rou explained, "Because he is Ah Jun's friend, he has come to my house a few times. Based on my limited understanding of Inspector Huo, what he wants is not a position, but cases. Not to mention the whole of Kowloon, just the cases in Chungking Mansions. As long as you take them to his door and give them to him, you know that kind of person, he will do it even if you don't pay him."
Now the top detective, Zhao Sir, Huo Qi's former superior, is also following behind.
Upon hearing this, he immediately said, "There happens to be an Albanian drug trafficking gang operating in Chungking Mansions. I've sent a lot of people to take them down, but they haven't been able to. Perhaps someone from the Kowloon Police Station is working with them. Let's send Inspector Fok over there."
Gu Sir smiled at Chen Rou: "I hope your method will work."
With his return to the mainland approaching, he still needed to ask Nie Rong about her condition and whether she could hold on.
If not, Nie Zhao would have to consider switching his and his wife's birth order.
