She looked at Nie Zhao again: "There are still 40 minutes until it's time to sign in. Go take a shower and change your clothes."
The butler didn't dare leave until the boss gave the order. The Nie brothers didn't leave either, and several maids from the second floor were also outside the door. They didn't dare leave either until Nie Zhao waved his hand, and then everyone left.
After a moment of silence, Nie Zhao suddenly said, "It's been two months already?"
Chen Rou said, "The doctor said it would take two months, but I think it should be around 50 days."
She thought it was her ovulation period, but pregnancy isn't calculated that way. Because the egg starts developing when the last menstrual period ends, the little one is indeed already two months along.
After raising a child, Nie Zhao was finally not as neurotic as he was with his first child.
Belatedly realizing what was happening, he picked up his son and said, "So the little sister you mentioned yesterday is in Mommy's tummy?"
A-Yuan and his mother don't leave until the afternoon, and he's still wearing his little floral vest right now.
He nodded: "Yes."
Nie Zhao looked at Chen Rou again and saw her shaking her head. He understood that she hadn't had a blood test yet. It was just A Yuan's wishful thinking that his mother was having a little sister. He got up, went through the wardrobe, and put his son on the washstand. He said, "Mom is indeed having a baby, but it could be a little sister or a little brother."
Ah Yuan said "Oh," and then asked, "Little brother, can you accompany little Nie Shenyuan, um, to ride a tricycle?"
Nie Zhao casually rubbed his face a couple of times, wet his chin, and shaved: "Little Nie Shenyuan is absolutely right."
But then he suddenly made a hissing sound, and A-Yuan hurriedly asked, "Dad, what's wrong?"
The razor accidentally snagged his face, proving that the butler hadn't come upstairs to check his personal belongings since he left. Normally, Nie Zhao would have taken the razor downstairs to confront the butler.
But today he was in a good mood, and after just showing his teeth, he said, "Oh no, the razor ate Dad's beard."
Ah Yuan laughed and pointed to his head: "It even scratched my hair!"
Okay, so the razor got dull because A-Yuan secretly used it to shave his hair, you little rascal!
When he came downstairs, there were only 20 minutes left before his farewell speech, and he had 5 minutes left to sign in.
The stylist is still waiting, but clearly, Boss Nie doesn't have time to groom himself anymore.
He wasn't even wearing a specially made formal suit, but just casual clothes, and went straight to the restaurant after going downstairs.
She didn't ask for anything else, just picked out a sandwich. As soon as she reached out, the new housekeeper hurriedly handed her the medicine. First the sandwich, then the medicine, she gulped it down in one go, followed by two sips of tea. He was efficient today, quite like a lady.
The new housekeeper, Ah Kuan, was actually quite nervous because he was still on probation and hadn't done a very good job today.
But as Secretary An said, the boss's heart is like a needle at the bottom of the sea, but as long as you do your job with your heart, he is actually very easy to get along with.
While I was putting on my shoes, he actually said, "You're young after all, you react very quickly, remember to keep it up."
So the boss means that if he goes upstairs quickly, he's doing a good job?
Of course, it wasn't all good. Ah Kuan got up to hand over his briefcase, but Nie Zhao didn't take it. He only asked, "Why didn't you call me beforehand to tell me about your wife's pregnancy?"
Ah-Kuan was about to explain, thinking his wife had already said it, but Nie-Zhao immediately stopped him: "Even if your wife has said it, she is her and you are you. Your responsibility is... to take care of the house and your wife."
He went outside, handed his briefcase to Secretary An, who was to accompany him to the Governor's Mansion, and got into the car.
Time was running out, and Song Yuanchao was about to step on the gas when Secretary An patted his knee at just the right moment.
The boss was still twisting his neck, and the car window was still open. His wife came down the stairs, waved, and went into the restaurant. Only then did the boss say, "Drive."
The weather was lovely today, neither stuffy nor humid. In July, a gentle breeze brushed against Nie Zhao's face, and he felt a refreshing coolness. So, for the first time ever, he didn't close the car window, letting the slightly salty sea breeze caress his face.
Even though the richest man grew up in Hong Kong, today is the most bustling day in Hong Kong in his memory.
Looking at the coastline, the first person he thought of was Battalion Commander Zhao, who was handsome, young, and full of vigor. Every time they met, he would catch Nie Zhao's eye and make him jealous.
Tonight, thousands of young and outstanding soldiers like him will land on the island. From a macro perspective, even Nie Zhao has to admit that they can bring a sense of security to all Hong Kong citizens, including himself.
They share the same skin color and race; they are of the same ethnicity and are one family.
Most Hong Kong citizens, who are usually silent, took to the streets today and made their stance clear.
They opened their arms, bidding farewell to the old era and welcoming a brand new tomorrow.
Their enthusiastic cheers and their simple yet gentle smiles replaced all the arguments.
Only they, a powerful force, can truly represent Hong Kong.
Nie Zhao, who was always worried about being sniped or attacked, surprisingly opened his car window today.
He thought that when he saw the bustling crowds on the street and the smiles on their faces, the confidence of the excellent Battalion Commander Zhao would return. He would no longer be worried or nervous, because he had completed his mission.
"Then let the window stay open," someone waved to him, and Nie Zhao even smiled and waved back.
Seeing many people waving in their direction, Song Yuanchao, who was driving, sensed something was wrong and reminded them, "Boss, close the windows."
But Nie Zhao said, "It's okay, you go ahead."
