Chapter 22 Taking Over a Hospital Ward!

Of course, we need to settle Nie Zhao first.

This is Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, the most famous hospital in Hong Kong, with the best medical facilities and services.

The nurse at the information desk on the first floor saw a taxi parked at the entrance and immediately pushed the wheelchair over. Once there, Nie Han was no longer afraid and got out of the car first. She said to the nurse, "I am Nie Han, the eldest daughter of the Nie family. Immediately, call your hospital director and the chief physician of neurosurgery to the neurosurgery department. Also, immediately send my uncle to the best ward!"

On the peninsula of Hong Kong, the Nie family is renowned for its wealth.

The controlling shareholder of Yanghe Hospital has a personal relationship with Han Yuzhu, the eldest wife of the Nie family. When members of the Nie family fall ill, Yanghe Hospital is their first choice of hospital.

Everyone in the Nie family, as well as the nurses and caregivers at the hospital, knew each other.

Upon seeing Nie Han dressed in tattered clothes and Chen Rou covered in blood, the nurses frowned. After all, while hospitals like Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital may recognize people, they value money even more, and the medical fees there are incomparable to those of ordinary hospitals.

Given the chaos in Hong Kong in recent years, the nurse assumed that the people who had come were gangsters from Kowloon who had gotten into a fight and were being brought here for treatment. However, the hospital fees at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital were too high for ordinary people to afford unless they were big shots in the underworld. So, although she brought the wheelchair, she was also looking for security personnel to try and get rid of the group.

Just then, Chen Rou and Kuang Zai helped Nie Zhao up.

Upon seeing this, the nurse immediately shouted into her earpiece, "Report! There's a VIP at the door! Bring the stretcher over quickly!"

This is the best-serviced private hospital. The front desk staff must remember what every VIP guest looks like. The entire Nie family, from Nie Rong to Nie Zhao, are VIPs who receive a fixed annuity every year.

Now it was Chen Rou's turn to be shocked.

As expected of the best-serviced private hospital, as soon as she and Kuang helped Nie Zhao up, a caregiver came to pick him up with a stretcher. After helping the patient onto the bed, they reached the elevator, where a neurosurgeon was already waiting.

In these turbulent times in Hong Kong, shootouts and kidnappings are frequent occurrences. The wealthier a person is, the more likely they are to be kidnapped or assassinated. In response, various private hospitals have launched medical packages best suited for the wealthy, which, of course, are extremely expensive.

The elevator was locked, and the doctor had already taken out a flashlight. As the nurse pushed the person into the elevator, the doctor was already checking Nie Zhao's pupils. While conducting the examination, he introduced himself: "Family members, I am Dr. Liu Zhongming from the neurosurgery department. I graduated from Princeton Medical School, and spent three years as an intern and one year as a resident at the Mayo Clinic. Currently, I am the deputy director of neurosurgery at our hospital..."

After turning off the flashlight, he gave the nurse a few more instructions. When the elevator doors opened, he said to Nie Han, "Ms. Nie, there are a lot of people being admitted to the hospital recently. Also, your Chairman Nie specially booked a ward yesterday. Now there is only one private ward left, but it is the best because it faces east and has plenty of sunlight."

Chairman Nie is Nie Rong, Nie Han's grandfather.

He suffers from severe insomnia and can hardly sleep without medication, so he has to come to the hospital every few days to get medication so that he can have a quiet and deep sleep.

There are only a few private wards in the hospital, and since Nie Rong is the father, it's naturally inappropriate to give his ward to his son.

Generally speaking, when people are hospitalized, the most important requirements for a hospital room are not lighting, but quietness and spaciousness.

Nie Han has always been afraid of her grandfather, and in the Nie family, Nie Rong is the absolute head of the family and has a supreme position. Even though she loves her uncle deeply and hopes that he can stay more comfortably, she does not dare to ask to change the ward.

However, Chen Rou was different.

The two wards were right across from each other, and she walked quickly. By the time the bed arrived, she had already walked around both wards. She stopped the bed and asked the doctor, "Dr. Liu, is the ward across the street also booked by my family?"

Dr. Liu explained, "This is the room that Chairman Nie booked. He has always been in poor health and may check in at any time."

Chen Rou said, "Chairman Nie is my father-in-law, so I've made the decision. This ward is for Mr. Nie, and as for Chairman Nie, let him stay in the room across the hall."

The question of which ward to stay in is neither a big deal nor a small one.

Moreover, since Nie Zhao and Nie Rong are father and son, it shouldn't be a big problem for them to switch wards.

However, Nie Rong has a bad temper and suffers from insomnia. He hates noise the most. The problem now is that if Nie Zhao stays in the ward that Nie Rong originally booked, Nie Rong will have to stay in a noisier ward that will upset him.

When he's upset, he'll naturally take it out on the doctors, making their lives difficult.

However, this was just a minor setback.

Chen Rou suggested changing the ward because she is a member of the Nie family. If Nie Rong really lost his temper, the doctors could simply push the conflict away. So, although Dr. Liu felt a pang of unease, he did not stop her.

This is the 1990s, while Chen Rou comes from 2024. More than 30 years later, she is still serving in the South China Sea military in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, the most developed areas for planting flowers. But she has to say that even 30 years later, the wards at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital can now rival the wards for cadres in public hospitals in the future.

The room was spacious and comfortable. The living room had a genuine leather sofa and a full-screen TV. Below the TV were a CD player and a game keyboard. On the table were various imported fruits, coffee cans and tea canisters, and the teacups were all made of fine bone china.

There is a video phone at the door, and extension phones on the coffee table and by the bedside.

This doesn't feel like a hospital ward; it's more like a residence. But even Chen Rou's own home won't be this convenient in the future.

Of course, she only looked at it briefly; the key was to treat Nie Zhao's illness.

There's also Nie Han, who has multiple abrasions that haven't been treated, so we need to find her a doctor.
