Chapter 494 is the second clash between the KGB and MI6.

The phoenix-shaped military knife, the immortal bird, was pressed against Bob's neck, yet he remained expressionless: "I don't know either."

Sir James was getting annoyed and said, "If you have nothing to do, go home early. I'm going home too."

But just as Bob was about to hang up, Chen Rou raised her phone.

There was a line of English text above it. She tapped the screen and asked him to read it aloud.

Bob paused for a moment before saying, "I'm afraid that Colonel Rango might suddenly visit in the middle of the night, and once he knows that Nie's evidence is in the safe in your office, he has the authority to go directly into your office and conduct a surprise inspection."

After he finished speaking, he stared intently at the eyes of the beautiful woman behind the phone screen.

She has inward-cured, Eastern-style double eyelids, thin eyelids, and bright pupils that exude ruthlessness and intelligence with every blink.

At that moment, Bob felt like a complete pig, as stupid as a pig.

How could a woman with such beautiful eyes not be intelligent, and how could she be a kind person?

She came here with computer hard drives and document evidence for her country, and she asked about that first. But there was another thing: evidence against the Nie family. She had to get it too, because it was related to the future of the Nie family.

She didn't directly press Bob for the password, nor did she ask him where the item was.

She was well aware of the complex relationship between the British military and MI6, and also knew about the checks and balances between Colonel Rango and Sir James. She cleverly exploited the loophole and used a trick, thus avoiding the trouble of forcing the code out of her.

Sir James is old, and it's already very late. He's tired from staying up all night, so without thinking it through, he said, "Then take the things out, take them back to your bedroom, put them under your pillow, and I'll take over tomorrow morning."

Then he said, "Goodbye."

With a busy signal, Ah Kang had already left the house. He pulled out a wire and first went to Sir James's office.

Of course, matters of national importance were not his concern. He was hired by Nie Zhao and needed to do things for Nie Zhao to get paid, so he naturally chose to deal with Nie Zhao's affairs first.

He's really something; he managed to break down the door in just a few seconds.

Although Bob was the only survivor on the entire basement level, Ah Kang, being a seasoned thief, closed the door before turning on the lights.

Sir James is truly loyal, just like Colonel Rango, with a portrait of the Queen hanging right in the center.

The safe is on the right side of the desk, and it's an old-fashioned one, a combination lock safe with a knob, also an antique.

Bob himself must have been conflicted, because both the computer hard drive and the files belonged to the state, and losing them wouldn't cause him any real harm. Of course, surviving was more important.

But if Chen Rou takes away Nie's evidence, it will directly harm his money.

Sir James promised him that if the ocean shipping magnate could secure the deal, he would receive 30 million.

Thirty million Hong Kong dollars! He could never earn that much even if he worked as a secret agent his whole life. But now Chen Rou wants to take it away. What should he do?

Of course, there is another way. There is an escape route in this office, so he can still take a chance.

But just as he thought of this, he saw Chen Rou's old, thin, and sleazy assistant move behind the desk, raise his knife, and look at him coldly. Chen Rou also smiled and said, "It only takes three seconds to jump onto the table and rush to the ceiling."

The escape route was right above Earl James's desk, and with just a tap on the light, the stairs would come down, giving Bob only 3 seconds to go up the stairs and escape – and that's exactly what he thought.

But Chen Rou's words made him give up that idea.

Because she held her long sword horizontally, she said gently, "But it only takes me a second to decapitate a person."

Bob shuddered, but couldn't help saying again, "Beautiful lady, Miss Chen, who is like the Virgin Mary, I am willing to be your slave for life, and you won't kill me, will you?"

Chen Rou was too lazy to waste words with him, and pointed the knife at the safe: "Open it, and I won't kill you."

Nie Zhao gripped the earphones tightly, his ears perked up like a rabbit's.

He knew, of course, that what Chen Rou was about to obtain was crucial evidence concerning the survival of the Nie family.

His heart was pounding in his throat, but just then Nie Jiajun said, "Uncle, something's wrong."

Nie Zhao hurriedly asked, "What's wrong?"

Nie Jiajun's internet speed is not throttled by any unscrupulous middlemen, but it's only 2G right now.

Nie Jiajun found two large compressed files in the website's data sharing area. One was named after Hong Kong, and the other was named after mainland China. The mainland China file was obviously larger, and Nie Jiajun wanted to download that one.

But downloading that one would take at least two hours, leaving him no time to download the other one.

He's asking Nie Zhao now because he wants to hear his uncle's advice on whether to download the mainland version and abandon Hong Kong.

But before he could even speak, Nie Zhao typed in the file: "Download this."

Corruption exists everywhere, and there are always those who collude with foreign powers. If it were Chen Rou, she would probably choose the documents from mainland China.

But Nie Zhao was not like that; he was just a businessman, and only responsible for doing business and trading.

He cares about anything that has nothing to do with his business.

After many close calls, all was well and no one was seriously hurt. When Nie Zhao listened to the headphones again, he heard Chen Rou's voice.

But she thought it was Nie Jiajun, so she said, "Hello, is this Jiajun?"

Nie Zhao's nose stung with tears, and he opened his mouth, his voice choked with emotion: "It's me."

Nie Jiajun and Nie Jiayu were both watching, their expressions solemn, and they were listening intently.

Of course, what Chen Rou is about to say concerns not only the future of the Nie family, but also Nie Zhao's business, and everything that the Nie brothers have now and will have in the future.
