People naturally like to find reasons for what they want to do.
Nie Zhao has a bunch of books on how to have healthy children and raise them scientifically. Chen Rou felt that those things were irrelevant to her and had never read them before. But she had just promised Chen Ke that she would help him, and then this happened. Of course, she couldn't make a decision right away, so she pulled out the book "How to Conceive a High-IQ Baby".
She randomly flipped to a page, and the contents immediately captivated her; she was engrossed in reading it right away.
This chapter mainly discusses the issues that mothers should pay attention to regarding fitness and health during pregnancy. One of the key points is that pregnant women must maintain appropriate exercise to ensure the healthy growth of the fetus.
The book recommended yoga as one of the sports. Chen Rou was delighted when she saw it. Yoga is a high-intensity training. If a pregnant woman can do yoga, she should be able to fly a fighter jet without any problems, right?
Actually, the advice in the book is aimed at women who are afraid of harming their babies after becoming pregnant and therefore stay at home for a long time and neglect exercise. The exercise they recommend is only moderate.
But for Chen Rou, who runs 10 kilometers whenever she's in a good mood and carries a 10-kilometer weight when she's in a bad mood, and who is either practicing boxing or Sanda and is always hanging on a moving target, flying a plane is really not a form of exercise.
So after flipping through the book, she decided that she should help if she could, and this time she had to take care of Gui Tou Chang.
But of course, the difficulty wasn't convincing herself, but rather how to convince Nie Zhao.
As if on cue, Boss Nie walked in, sniffed himself, and said, "I'm going to take a shower first."
Once inside the restroom, she said, "Aunt Chang will bring up a late-night snack in a bit, your favorite, savory glutinous rice balls."
The Nie family has a traditional Hong Kong style of eating glutinous rice balls, which are always sweet. Later, Chen Rou mentioned that she wanted to eat savory ones, and she especially liked a certain filling, which was pork cracklings with jujubes. As a result, only two days later, the kitchen served it to her. From then on, Aunt Chang would always ask her if she wanted to eat it.
Of course, normally, Chen Rou absolutely does not eat late-night snacks.
But things are different now. She's pregnant, and in Nie Zhao's opinion, she absolutely has to have an extra meal to nourish the baby.
In fact, the more Chen Rou thought about it, the less she felt the baby was so fragile. After all, just last night, before she found out she was pregnant, they had been tossing and turning in bed for almost forty minutes, and the baby was fine today.
Of course, it's been less than two months, so you can't tell from the appearance.
It's a tiny thing, only 2 centimeters long, about the size of a quail egg. She's not the Princess and the Pea, how could you tell?
As soon as Kuang Zai brought in the glutinous rice balls, she stood up to take them, but Nie Zhao said, "You sit down and don't move."
He ran a few steps to pick up the tray himself, and probably seeing that Chen Rou didn't have much of an appetite, he scooped up a glutinous rice ball and tried to bring it over: "Just try it. If you don't have an appetite right now, I'll ask you again later."
This is called a fatigue tactic. She won't eat it if you ask her once, she won't eat it if you ask her twice, but if you ask her a third time, she'll get annoyed and eat one to appease you. In Nie Zhao's view, whatever she eats belongs to his child, and his goal is achieved.
But Chen Rou wouldn't force herself in these areas.
Closing the book, she said, "I just had claypot rice, I don't want to eat this. Let Kwong take it away."
Nie Zhao is a person who particularly likes to act shamelessly, but his good looks and refined demeanor mask his shameless nature.
When Kwong came to pick up the bowl, he waved his hand and said, "It's just two glutinous rice balls. I'll eat one, and you can eat one."
Kwong had a bad feeling, took two steps back, and then dashed out the door.
Sure enough, a moment later, he heard the landlady say fiercely from inside the house, "If you dare bother me again, go back to the second floor to sleep from now on."
Kwong was deeply grateful for his wisdom; he hadn't seen his boss's dark past, so he didn't have to worry about being silenced.
Immediately, he heard the green tea shop owner's weak voice again: "Eat more, it's good for our children."
The proprietress was really tough and started arguing, saying, "My child won't be short of food, but I'm full and I can't eat anymore. You can't bother me with this, because it's a small thing, but it bothers me."
Kwong was actually a little worried because the landlady's tone was too harsh, and he was afraid that the boss would get angry and lose his temper.
But clearly, he had worried unnecessarily, because after a while, the boss actually asked, "Now, are you hungry?"
He rolled his eyes and shrugged. He heard footsteps and assumed the boss had been beaten up by the boss's wife. He was wondering if he could find a way to go in and rescue the man when the door opened and it was the boss's wife.
She handed him the plate and said, "I'll ask for my own late-night snack if I want to, so there's no need to switch to another shop to make it in the future."
Kwong took the plate: "Okay, ma'am."
Thus, although Boss Nie tried all sorts of tricks and schemes to persuade his wife to eat more, he could only run into obstacles when faced with Chen Rou's firmness and principles.
Nie Zhao was unaware that his wife had already planned to become a pilot, had thought about how to accompany her through her pregnancy, and had even planned two long-term leave periods for herself.
But I was still unwilling to give up and felt particularly frustrated because I couldn't persuade my wife to eat even one more bite.
Once in bed, Chen Rou watched "High IQ Baby" this time. After a while, Nie Zhao suddenly turned his head and said, "A Rou, why do you have such strong principles?"
Having spent a lot of time together, Chen Rou became less reserved about her past life. With a smile, she countered, "What about you, Boss Nie? If you weren't disciplined enough, how could you have made money?"
