Chapter 347 Wait a minute

Bai Lu felt weak all over and was unable to move.

My vision is getting increasingly blurry.

The phantoms overlapped, my consciousness was heavy, yet I clearly knew what would happen next.

From now on, there will be no more joy or happiness, no more health or well-being; life will be forever swallowed by the darkness and despair of today.

She tried to break free of the chains, but she couldn't even lift her fingertips. She could only watch helplessly as those withered, dark, sinful hands reached for the white skirt.

My heart is ashen...

"Bang!"

The gunshot brought everything to a standstill.

One drop, two drops, drops of bright red blood, staining the white skirt red, blooming into a flower of stillness and despair.

The sinful hand that had just touched the hem of the skirt lost its balance and fell to the side, its blood staining the white sheets.

With the obstruction gone, the vision went from blurry to clear.

Bai Lu saw clearly the "god" descending from the sky.

It was him.

He emerged from the deep alley.

Dressed in black, with a gun in his left hand and a gleaming dagger in his right, he walked towards her through the dim, dappled light.

The dark, deep eyes beneath the mask swept coldly over the figure lying on the ground, devoid of any human emotion.

He looked up again, met her gaze for a second, and then his eyes shifted to the chain at the foot of the bed and the chain at the head of the bed.

With a swift movement, the knife fell.

The life-binding chains that bound her to the abyss, the cage she could not escape no matter how hard she struggled, were shattered by his gleaming dagger, which could cut through iron like mud.

The sound of the chains breaking wasn't harsh, perhaps because the still-wet blood on the dagger muffled the sound.

Perhaps he didn't use much force to begin with.

He cut the chains and retreated five meters away, stopping there without making any further moves.

Only those cold eyes were watching her.

The effects of the medicine that Bai Lu had taken hadn't worn off yet; her vision cleared for a while, then started to blur again.

With great effort, he raised his hand, ripped off the mask that was filled with the strong smell of medicine, and spat out the medicine-filled gauze from his mouth.

Suppressing her nervousness and fear, she tried her best to speak in a normal tone: "Thank you...you saved me..."

The drug was too strong; she could barely speak, her words broken and strained. "I will... repay... you..."

He didn't say anything.

His indifferent eyes remained completely unmoved.

Bai Lu wanted to go home, so she put her hands on the bed to get off, but as soon as her toes touched the ground, she fell down weakly.

He slumped down on the cold floor.

He frowned.

My gaze shifted from her face, not far away, but from a distance on the right.

Bai Lu subconsciously looked to the right.

The first thing you see is a rusty and damaged door lock, followed by a half-open, dilapidated bathroom door.

The restroom has a tap, and maybe even some water.

Bai Lu's gradually blurry eyes brightened, and she grabbed the blood-stained edge of the bed, supporting herself as she slowly got up. She stumbled and staggered towards the bathroom, leaning against the wall.

Push open the door.

Turn on the rusty faucet.

The sound of rushing water filled the air.

Thank goodness... thank goodness there's water.

Bai Lu was relieved and quickly got some water to wash her face and rinse her mouth.

The water should be deep water from the bottom of the reservoir on the rooftop, icy cold, which will quickly begin to exert its effects on the medicine.

The blurriness in my vision cleared, and I became more conscious.

Bai Lu put her face under the tap, letting the cold water wash directly over her mouth and nose to speed up her recovery.

My body, which had been weakened, is recovering. My hands and feet are regaining strength, and I no longer need to lean against the sink.

She no longer stumbles when she walks.

He's not in the room; he may have already left.

Bai Lu leaned against the wall and quickly went downstairs.

Not far downstairs, another thug lay face down on the ground, with blood on the ground.

The dim lights flickered, and crows flew overhead, cawing three times before disappearing into the night.

Bai Lu's heart tightened, and she quickly walked outside.

When she reached the door, she saw the masked killer... the one who had saved her, hadn't left.

I stood under the big tree across the street.

He stood tall and straight, with his hands behind his back.

The broken streetlights flickered dimly, casting an eerie and terrifying light on his cold mask.

Seeing her come out, he turned and left.

He was tall and had long legs, but he walked very slowly and didn't take the main road; instead, he walked along the dark side of the road.

There were lights on the main road, and although seven out of ten were broken, Bailu still chose to walk on the main road.

Light can dispel darkness, tension, and fear.

He stood neither too close nor too far from her, and when she was almost within walking distance, he silently disappeared into the shadows.

Bai Lu thought he had left.

Turning around, I saw a tall figure in the darkness.

She stopped, and her figure stopped too.

She stepped back, and he stepped back too.

I kept a distance from her that was neither too close nor too far.

Until he entered the cordoned-off area of the family compound, he stopped completely in the shadows.

I stopped following her.

Bai Lu's location was already in a safe zone, with guards patrolling just a hundred meters ahead.

Cameras from all directions, providing comprehensive coverage without blind spots.

If he takes one more step forward, he will enter the monitored area.

Bai Lu knew he was just bringing her back and meant her no harm, so her nervousness and fear had long since disappeared.

Looking back one last time, I saw him in the shadows, seemingly about to turn and leave.

She immediately ran back.

He turned and left.

"Please wait a moment, you saved me, I won't call the police."

Perhaps it was because her voice was sincere and her tone was earnest that he stopped.

But he didn't turn back.

There were pedestrians coming and going on the main road, and his hiding place was very well concealed; no one could find him unless they looked closely.

He may have walked through the darkness countless times and had a thorough understanding of it.

It blends into the darkness.

Bai Lu didn't know if he was a good person or a bad person; she only knew that he saved her and took her home.

Regardless of the reason for his rescue, he was her benefactor.

His and her worlds were two extremes; perhaps they would never have the chance to meet again.
