Xiao Cheng rarely interfered in his brothers' private affairs, but he would answer every time Bai Lu asked.
"Four years ago, in Nanshi, Xiao Dazhuang finished his business late at night and went to buy a drink. As he passed through an alley, a woman pounced on him, trying to drag him into the alley to buy something. It terrified him."
Isn't this the legendary streetwalker?
Bai Lu felt extremely sorry for him and glanced at Xiao Dazhuang, the honest and unlucky boy sitting obediently opposite the girl next door, Xiao Yaoyao.
No wonder he wasn't in a hurry to get married. Four years ago, when he was only eighteen or nineteen, he was blessed with good fortune.
She was almost forced to lose her virginity; she must have been terrified.
"How did you manage to escape?"
Xiao Cheng's brothers are all like him; they don't lay a hand on women. Xiao Dazhuang is so honest; he definitely wouldn't beat up a streetwalker.
Xiao Cheng flipped over the chicken wings that were almost burnt in front of Bai Lu and used a knife to make cuts.
The detailed account, presented in a straightforward manner, states: "Xiao Dazhuang initially thought he had been robbed. He tried to reason with the people but to no avail. He pushed them away and tried to leave, but then two women ran out of the alley."
"He thought they had called their accomplices, so he shouted for us too. When we got there, he was being chased by three women and was so scared that his shoes flew off."
Although it was pitiful, Bai Lu couldn't help but laugh: "Did you cry and hug your leg after you were rescued?"
"No."
Xiao Cheng raised an eyebrow and glanced at Luo Shiliu across the table, who had just returned with chili powder and was sprinkling it everywhere.
"I was so scared that I stayed at the Sixteen Houses for three days."
Upon hearing this, Luo Shiliu paused in his chili powder-sprinkling motion, gave Bai Lu a look that said, "I'm a great philanthropist," and whispered mysteriously to her.
"My sister-in-law has no idea how good I am to Dazhuang. In order to get rid of his trauma of streetwalkers, I take him to see streetwalkers every day."
"Let him develop sharp eyes and the courage of a bear and a leopard, so that he won't be afraid of any woman he sees in the future, and he'll strike when the time is right and draw his sword when necessary!"
Bai Lu was amused by Luo Shiliu's serious tone: "I think you're pushing Dazhuang into a fire pit."
"What?! This is clearly fighting poison with poison!" Luo Shiliu flipped over the large crab covered in chili peppers.
Glancing at the honest man next door, who had already started skewering the second skewer of snails for Shang Chuyao, he said, "Look, now that the poison is gone, he even knows to skewer snails for a girl!"
Bai Lu heard that Shang Chuyao was the first to say she wanted to eat, so Xiao Dazhuang helped to skewer them.
However, when chatting, they always answer questions; sincerity is the most powerful weapon!
"Sister-in-law, are my five-nut mooncakes ready yet?"
As soon as Li Jianfeng arrived, he sat down opposite Bai Lu, squeezing between Luo Shiliu and Xiao Wei. He didn't care how many fish were in the net he was holding, and just poured them onto the barbecue grill.
The dripping river water fell onto the red-hot coals, raising layers of ash.
Xiao Cheng, Bai Lu, and Xiao Wei promptly removed the barbecued food that was almost ready to be eaten from in front of them.
Luo Shiliu was a beat too slow; the crab leg he had just put in his mouth was squeezed away by Li Jianfeng, who kicked him with a dark face.
Li Jianfeng howled in pain as he was stomped on, baring his teeth: "Believe it or not, I'll give you a torpedo!"
Right in front of him, Luo Shiliu snapped the last large claw of the roasted crab with a "crunch," chewing it with a smug grin on his face.
Without saying a word, the crunching sound, like chewing bones, was enough to greatly arouse Li Jianfeng.
He raised his hand and grabbed... Hmm, a five-nut mooncake!
It smells wonderful; it's definitely not a slipper.
Who put the mooncake in his hand?
Li Jianfeng turned around quickly, drawn by the aroma, and met Bai Lu's warm and natural smile: "Eat up, didn't you want to eat roasted five-nut mooncakes?"
"It's been grilled for a while now. You've been frying fish and haven't had time to come over, so I just left it to warm up. Try it and see how it tastes. If it's not spicy enough, sprinkle some more chili powder on it."
Li Jianfeng was stunned.
His blank stare shifted to the skewer of roasted mooncakes in his hand.
Each skewer contains three pieces, all sprinkled with cumin and chili powder. The sweet and seasoning flavors mingle together, but instead of being pungent or unpleasant, they are so fragrant that they make your mouth water.
He took a bite, and his eyes lit up: "Delicious!"
"If you like it, eat more."
Bai Lu didn't know how she managed to bake five-nut mooncakes so seriously, sprinkle the seasonings so meticulously, and then smile as she urged people to eat them.
Why bake mooncakes when you can bake chicken, duck, fish, and meat? That's completely absurd.
Shang Chuyao, Xiao Dazhuang, Luo Shiliu, and Xiao Wei all thought it was outrageous.
Li Jianfeng devoured the roasted mooncakes with his extremely strong taste, and then asked Bai Lu to help him roast them. In the end, Xiao Cheng sent him away with a bottle of chili powder, but he still shamelessly pestered Bai Lu to roast five-nut mooncakes. Xiao Cheng was dumbfounded and stood there dumbfounded.
So unbelievable that I had to believe it.
This is truly outrageous!
Are roasted five-nut mooncakes really that delicious?
Just as the faces around them were beginning to show confusion, they were interrupted by the loud noise coming from the barbecue grill pointing downwards.
"You old geezer! Who gave you permission to touch my seasoning bowl? How am I supposed to grill if you get the seasonings dirty! If you want seasonings, why don't you go get them yourself? You've probably used that brush on countless skewers; it's covered in dirty, smelly saliva. If you touch my seasonings again, I'll chop your hand off!"
"How can you talk like that? You're so rude, and you even knocked the mute woman's brush away!"
"Are you bullying a mute woman because she can't speak up? The condiment bowl is in the middle for everyone to dip in. After dipping the brush in the condiment, you brush it on the skewers, and then you eat them directly. It's not like you're eating them while they're grilling, so where did the saliva come from?"
"Saying anything is just an excuse. She's always been this shrewish, always ready to yell at anyone she sees."
"The entire long barbecue grill is filled with bowls of barbecue seasoning, with one bowl placed every two positions. The mute woman's position is opposite hers, and the seasoning bowl is in the middle. If you don't clean the middle one, do you expect me to go to the back to clean it?"
