At Xiao Cheng's signal, he hurriedly followed and reported Yun Ruolin's condition, with Director Fang close behind.
During the White Dew season, she would go to the sickbeds to comfort the patients.
"Have Miss Yun's injuries been examined and treated?"
"Everything has been taken care of. Are you a family member?" The nurse was pushed forward to be the first to be asked this question.
Bai Lu smiled politely: "No, we are just business partners."
Does that mean we can't even be considered friends?
The nurses were speechless for a moment, and the doctors had no reason to linger any longer, so they all left.
Bai Lu placed her bag on the bedside table, put Xiao Cheng's phone back into the bag, and then placed the fruit basket she was carrying in her other hand on the table.
He casually picked up an apple, sat down in the chair opposite the hospital bed, and slowly peeled it.
"Miss Yun, why did you do this? How could you be so careless when you go out? There are so many cars and people on the street. Why didn't you watch where you were going? Have you found the driver who caused the accident?"
Yun Ruolin didn't want to see Bai Lu, and she didn't want to say much, simply stating three words: "Couldn't find her."
Bai Lu looked at her with sympathy and curiosity: "Did you faint right after being hit?"
Yun Ruolin ignored her sarcasm and instead mocked Pingcheng's security: "Unlicensed vans."
I thought Bai Lu would be ashamed and too embarrassed to speak again, but to my surprise, Bai Lu was even more astonished.
“I’ve lived in Pingcheng for so long and I’ve never seen a van without a license plate. You’ve only been here a few times and you’ve already seen one. You’re so lucky.”
After saying that, Bai Lu finally remembered that Yun Ruolin was injured, and then corrected herself embarrassedly: "It's really bad luck."
Yun Ruolin, maintaining the proper etiquette of a well-bred young lady, took a deep breath and refrained from engaging in a verbal argument with her.
"I don't like eating apples."
Bai Lu showed no sign of being kicked out, remaining seated firmly and smiling as she began to explain.
“In the TV series, patients all eat apples. Miss Yun has partnerships with our sixteen chain appliance stores, so we can’t neglect her. We can’t let her think that we can’t even afford apples.”
Yun Ruolin choked.
She used to bring up cooperation as an excuse, but now Bai Lu is using cooperation as a pretext to block her.
The feeling was like punching cotton, only to have it bounce back and hit a nail.
Yun Ruolin's face darkened; she didn't want to waste any more time having a pointless conversation with Bai Lu.
Bai Lu, however, insisted on breaking the silence in the room, asking with concern, "Miss Yun, is your leg... broken?"
Yun Ruolin's face turned ashen: "It's just a scratch, can't you see?"
No, not at all.
Bai Lu wasn't angry at all: "I just heard your father sound very anxious on the phone, repeatedly telling Acheng to take you to the hospital. I thought Miss Yun had broken her leg and couldn't walk, so I asked Acheng to take her personally."
Yun Ruolin bit her lower lip, pinched her palm, then let go, ignoring Bai Lu's sarcastic remarks, shut her mouth and stopped talking, then reached for the table to pour herself some water.
Bai Lu didn't rush to help; she placed the peeled apple on the table and accidentally knocked her bag off.
Two big red books accidentally fell out.
