Chapter 346 The Cold Light Dagger

Chapter 346 The Cold Light Dagger

The next morning.

Bai Lu received a birthday gift.

A hair clip with seven pearls in the shape of a crescent moon, born from the combined love of both parents.

Bai Lu liked it very much and was very happy.

While eating her birthday meal, Grandma smiled and said, "Lulu's pearl hair clip is really pretty, but it seems like something could be added to the middle. Maybe it would be even more beautiful and pretty with that. Does Lulu like white jade beads?"

Looking at her grandmother's sweet smile, Lulu thought of her mother's smile and felt a little uneasy.

"Could Grandma's white jade beads also be a token of love from Grandpa?"

Before Grandma could answer, Grandpa put a big chicken leg on Lulu's plate: "Lulu is so smart."

Lulu is having a tough time... eating dog food on her birthday.

The good thing is that on her birthday, the crescent moon and seven pearl hair clip transformed into a seven-star moon pearl hair clip.

Mom, Dad, Grandpa, and Grandma all said:

"May the seven stars accompany the moon, may beauty accompany Lulu, and may you be healthy and happy every day."

After her twelfth birthday, the pearl hair clip with seven stars and the moon never left Bailu's head.

May you be healthy and happy until you turn seventeen.

On a sunny Friday after school, the class monitor organized the whole class to go to the hospital to visit their sick homeroom teacher.

Bai Lu also went.

It was already dark when I returned.

The wind blows through the sycamore trees along the roadside, yellow leaves fall, there are pedestrians on the road, and warm orange lights shine through.

Around the corner, two men walked towards you, arms around each other, smoking and chatting.

As he passed by Bailu, he suddenly approached her and blew two puffs of thick white smoke at her.

Prior to this, among the vast amount of medical knowledge Bai Lu had learned from her aunt, there was none that could knock someone out with just one whiff of a sleeping gas.

And that is indeed the case.

Bai Lu didn't faint, but her vision started to blur, she couldn't see clearly, and she felt dizzy.

The limbs gradually lost strength.

The effects of sedatives and cigarettes take time; it usually takes about ten minutes from being drugged to passing out.

This is an experimental case that my aunt told Bailu.

After realizing she had been infected, Bai Lu tried to run, but as soon as she took a heavy step, the assailant grabbed her shoulder, dragged her down, and quickly stuffed a wad of cloth full of medicinal smell into her mouth. He then forced a mask soaked in medicine onto her, sealing her mouth and nose tightly.

The strong smell of medicine filled her nose and mouth, making Bai Lu's vision increasingly blurry. She was still conscious, but her head was spinning.

She was losing strength in her limbs faster and faster. She tried to take off her mask, but her hand was pressed back down as soon as she raised it.

Walking was difficult, and she was unable to break free from the assailant's arm around her shoulder, being carried along the way.

There were pedestrians ahead. Bai Lu wanted to call for help, but as soon as she opened her mouth, she was hit by an even stronger smell of medicine.

The medicine cover was sealed, making it impossible to make a sound.

She could only shake her head vigorously, her eyes filled with panic, trying to attract the attention of passersby and cry for help.

But the assailant suddenly pressed her head onto his shoulder, making comforting and persuasive noises.

"Okay, baby, don't be angry anymore. It's my fault, it's my fault. Don't do it again. You run out to drink whenever you're angry, and I've been looking for you for ages..."

Pedestrians assumed it was a couple arguing, glanced at each other as they passed by, and didn't look back.

The assailant's actions of blowing smoke and putting on a mask were quick and skillful. He remained calm and composed when encountering passersby, and he could easily spout lies, clearly indicating that he had come prepared.

A habitual offender, or a remnant of a criminal gang.

Bai Lu bit her lower lip until it bled, the taste of blood filling her mouth. She held on tightly, digging her fingertips into her palm with all her might to stay conscious and look for the next chance to call for help.

But they didn't encounter any more pedestrians along the way.

My vision is getting increasingly blurry.

The road ahead was filled with overlapping shadows, the lights grew dimmer and dimmer, and my footsteps became heavier and heavier.

At the end of the road was a dilapidated, desolate, and overgrown abandoned hospital, which looked like hell from a distance.

Bai Lu's gaze shifted from anxiety and struggle to panic and despair...

We passed through a deep alley.

A man dressed entirely in black from head to toe, wearing a hat, was bending over with his back to the alleyway. The dagger in his right hand dripped blood in the cold light as it fell towards the figure standing beneath his feet.

The blade flashed and blood dripped into the neck of the figure on the ground.

Bai Lu didn't hear the thugs greet her. The man in the alley probably wasn't an accomplice; perhaps he was just another bad guy, an evil person, a killer...

But at this moment, she had no other choice.

Everyone who is alive must call for help.

Bai Lu bit her lip hard to clear her vision, and the old iron trash can in the corner in front of her caught her eye.

As she was being carried by the thugs past quickly, she used the last of her strength to kick over the trash can.

A dull metallic thud echoed as the metal hit the ground.

Interrupt the man's throat-slitting motion in the alley.

The man straightened up, turned around, and held the blood-stained dagger in his hand.

Beneath the mask, his eyes were dark and gloomy, unfathomable, filled with a heavy aura of menace, precisely fixed on the direction from which the disturbance came, his gaze as if looking at a dead man.

Bai Lu, who had kicked over the trash can with all her might, fell to the ground due to inertia. The thugs hurriedly helped her up, not daring to make a sound the whole time.

Bai Lu met those eyes that seemed to be looking at a dead person, strained to open them, shook her head violently, struggled, and begged him for help.

He squinted.

But no action was taken.

Despite using all the strength she had mustered to break free from the assailant, she fell to the ground again.

He was grabbed by the arms and dragged away by the thugs again.

Even after he disappeared from sight, Bai Lu didn't see him take a step; the gleaming dagger was still dripping blood...

The last chance to call for help has been extinguished.

The abandoned hospital's large iron gate was rusty, the lights were dim and flickering, the corridors reeked of decay, and the dark, damp rooms contained a clean bed.
