Chapter 47 Acheng's Cheating

Bai Lu kept pestering Xiao Cheng: "I really want to go to the mountain to take a look. I promise I won't run around. You can have Xiao Wei come with me. We'll follow you wherever you go..."

Xiao Cheng sat at the octagonal table, poured himself a glass of water, but before he could even bring it to his lips, it was snatched away by a slender hand.

Keep it far away so he can't drink it.

She was still holding his arm, shaking it violently, as if she wouldn't stop until she dislocated his shoulder.

The girl standing next to him, her cheeks puffed out, was both angry and trying to be sweet, and it looked like she was about to lose her temper.

"Clang, clang."

The old clock on the wall struck twice.

Xiao Cheng was about to go to work next door and got up to leave, but the little tail behind him slowed him down.

Helplessly, he said, "We'll talk about it tonight."

Bai Lu snorted, then a sudden inspiration struck her. "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Xiao Cheng was "sent" to the door. He glanced at the little tail following him and parted his thin lips slightly.

"Spicy chicken".

Bai Lu couldn't understand why he suddenly wanted to eat chili peppers, but she still smiled and gave him a no-questions-asked gesture.

"Besides spicy chicken, is there anything else?" She wanted to write it down in her notebook so she could use this trick to curry favor in the future.

His arm was released, the soft warmth gone, and Xiao Cheng said indifferently, "Whatever."

Bai Lu smiled and nodded, then lightly pushed him out the door: "Go on, go on, come home early for dinner tonight~"

The neighbors passing by were all watching, their eyes blazing with gossip, and they started walking at the same pace as snails.

There were jokes, surprises, and envy...

Xiao Cheng cleared his throat, responded with a natural "hmm," straightened his collar, put one hand in his pocket, his eyes deep, and strode straight out.

For the first time, I didn't give passersby a cold look.

The passersby and neighbors were all stunned by the snail-like speed.

Qi Qi turned their gaze to the main entrance, where Bai Lu smiled and nodded to greet everyone.

The neighbors all smiled and nodded in response.

The sun is shining brightly today, and it's made me feel much better.

When Xiao Wei gets home from school, he passes through a crossroads. Turning left leads to Pingcheng city, going straight leads to the town market, and turning right leads to his home.

As usual, he turned to the right, but his backpack was suddenly grabbed from behind.

A powerful force swerved him back onto the straight road.

Xiao Wei was startled and suddenly looked up.

In the afterglow of the setting sun, a fair and clean face, with curved eyebrows and warm eyes, and a smile as beautiful as a sunflower, so beautiful that it can soothe a person's tense heartbeat.

They are not human traffickers.

The kidnappers aren't that good-looking, and they wouldn't cook for him, buy him a new backpack, bubble gum, spicy snacks...

"What are you doing here?" This place is very close to his school, and it's still a ten-minute walk from home.

"Waiting for you to go buy new clothes~"

Bai Lu loosened her grip on the little backpack, patted the little guy's shoulder, and gently pushed him forward.

The elementary school students passing by all looked over curiously, and some even huddled together in twos and threes to whisper among themselves.

Xiao Wei frowned, but didn't stop walking. He carried his new schoolbag and walked along the weight on his shoulder: "It's not like it's New Year's. Why are you buying new clothes? Haven't you bought any groceries yet? What time is it? There are no vegetables left at the market."

Bai Lu gave him a reassuring look: "I already bought the groceries. I'll leave them with Aunt Wu for now. We'll pick them up after we buy our new clothes."

After mentioning the new clothes several times, Xiao Wei finally remembered that Bai Lu had said she would buy him new clothes.

They even said it was with the approval of their eldest brother.

"Can't we wait a couple of days to buy it?" Tomorrow is Qingming Festival, it's not auspicious to buy new clothes today.

Bai Lu stopped and gently placed her hand on the little one's head, her voice as gentle as water: "Don't you want to wear your new clothes to see your mom and dad?"

Xiao Wei was taken aback.

Then he looked up, and perhaps because the sun was behind him, the sunlight poured down, and even Bai Lu's hair was covered in a halo. Her gentle and warm smile was somewhat similar to the figure in his memory, which made his eyes red.

Xiao Wei quickly lowered his head, closed his eyes, said nothing, and walked forward.

I walked a little faster than before.

...

After dinner and a shower, there was the sound of dripping water in the yard, and two new sets of clothes were hanging in the corridor.

Bai Lu sleeps with her arms around Xiao Cheng's.

They covered each other with the blanket as well.

It's probably because of the Qingming Festival, the temperature drops almost every year during these days. There's a light drizzle at night, and one quilt isn't warm enough. We had to use both of our quilts, and it was just right and extra warm.

"I'm going to the countryside tomorrow too. You agreed, so you can't go back on your word."

Holding onto his arm, Bai Lu thought to herself that she wouldn't be left behind tomorrow morning, feeling incredibly clever.

Xiao Cheng couldn't remember when he had agreed. His arms were being held, and the soft warmth seeped into his skin, spreading throughout his body along his capillaries, dispelling his cold-blooded body temperature.

His voice was deep and mellow: "When did you agree to this?"

His voice was flat, revealing no emotion.

Bai Lu said, "At mealtime."

You ate the spicy chicken, so don't even think about denying it!

Xiao Cheng's chest trembled twice, and his voice contained a barely perceptible chuckle: "I don't talk while I eat."

Did they dine and dash?!

Bai Lu was so angry she wanted to bite someone. Tonight, she deliberately used less chili for the spicy chicken and made sure all the ingredients were ready.

Worried that the chicken wasn't fresh, I even watched them kill it right there. When they were cutting chili peppers, some even got splashed in my eyes and almost died from the spiciness. Trying to dine and dash? No way!

"I don't care, you agreed to it during dinner, I heard you." Anyone can be unreasonable.

Xiao Cheng raised an eyebrow: "I didn't agree."

Bai Lu angrily pinched someone's arm, her eyes fierce and her voice snarling: "You agreed."

A rabbit will bite when cornered... or pinch someone.

Xiao Cheng pursed his lips, but didn't pull his arm away. He just closed his eyes and stopped talking.

Bai Lu was at her wits' end, unsure whether his words meant he agreed or not. "You forgot to turn off the light."

The little paw poked his arm.

Xiao Cheng didn't open his eyes, but with practiced ease, he raised his hand, pulled the rope, and turned off the light, all in one smooth motion.

Turn off the lights, close your eyes and go to sleep.

His breathing was steady and powerful in the darkness. His profile was cool and serene. He appeared to be lying flat, but he could turn over and sit up very quickly, like a beast that was falling into a deep sleep and would wake up at the slightest disturbance.

Bai Lu was like a deflated balloon; no matter how loudly she ground her teeth, she could only close her eyes.

"One sheep, two sheep, three sheep..."

He muttered to himself, and then it turned into a murmur: "You agreed, you agreed, you agreed..."

Xiao Cheng opened his eyes and turned his head to look. The girl's cute sleeping face came into view. Her cheeks were as if they were covered with a layer of rouge, light pink, and her slightly pouting pink lips made a sound.

"You agreed... Acheng agreed... I'm going to go up the mountain to hunt tigers tomorrow... hunt tigers..."

Xiao Cheng chuckled silently, took her hand that she had raised to fight the tiger, and put it back under the covers.

We fell asleep holding hands.
