Chapter 122 Did you put poison in the fish soup?

Meng Xueyun had to have an IV drip yesterday because she didn't drink enough fish soup, and the diarrhea has stopped.

She has now transformed into a caregiver, staying by Meng Zihan's bedside to take care of her.

Mencius got angry just looking at her and couldn't help but yell at her.

"Auntie! Are you doing this on purpose?! Are you trying to kill me?!"

Startled by her outburst, Meng Xueyun said aggrievedly, "Xiaohan, what are you saying? How could I possibly harm you? I love you dearly!"

"You care about me?!" Meng Zihan pointed to her hand with the IV drip attached and questioned, "Is this how you care about me?! I couldn't take the exam today?! All my efforts were wasted! Are you satisfied now?!"

Meng Xueyun also became a little anxious and quickly explained.

"Xiaohan, listen to me, I really don't know what happened! I really didn't mean to..."

"Then why did you bring the fish soup back?! Why didn't you watch Ye Linchen drink the fish soup?!"

Meng Zihan's tears flowed uncontrollably.

She felt incredibly unlucky to have ended up with such an idiot.

She stared at Meng Xueyun with tears in her eyes.

If looks could kill, Meng Xueyun would probably have been chopped into pieces by her!

Meng Xueyun pondered her words for a long time, and suddenly understood a little.

She looked around and asked in a low voice, "Xiaohan, did you put something in the fish soup?"

Meng Zihan was stunned for a moment, then didn't answer. She cried even harder, almost unable to breathe.

After a long pause, she choked out, "I wanted to avenge you and your uncle."

"Aunt, your thinking is completely wrong. You always think that your cousin is successful and you can control her, but look at her, she's still a student and you can't do anything about her now, will you really be able to in the future?"

"Even if she studies at university in Jiangcheng, what happens after she graduates? She can still find a job in another city, and you still won't be able to find her."

"It would be best if she didn't get into university. Then, to make a living, she'd have to find a job, and she'd have to come back and beg her uncle, bowing down to him. That way, her uncle would save face."

Meng Xueyun thought about it and realized that was indeed the case.

I had oversimplified things; Xiaohan had thought things through much more thoroughly.

"Why didn't you tell me!" Meng Xueyun couldn't help but complain.

"I was afraid you'd find out and it would show on your face, and my cousin would find out. She's such a shrewd person!" Meng Zihan said irritably. "How was I supposed to know you'd bring all the groceries back! And why didn't you tell me!"

When Meng Xueyun was questioned like this, she felt inexplicably guilty.

When he faced Ye Linchen, he did lose his composure and couldn't control himself.

Xiaohan's concerns are not without merit.

Meng Xueyun forced a smile and said ingratiatingly, "Oh, I didn't tell you because I wanted to save money for your tutoring. Do you know that's how you save money for your tutoring? If I told you, and you accidentally let it slip, how could your uncle possibly give you more money for groceries?"

Meng Zihan was on the verge of a breakdown, shouting, "Fine, you saved money, and I got tutoring too, but what was the result? I can't even take the college entrance exam! What's the use of getting so much tutoring!"

How could you be so stupid!

When Meng Xueyun heard her call her stupid, her face darkened and she got angry.

“I was stupid. From the moment your father sent you here, I shouldn’t have treated you like my own daughter. I always gave you the best food and clothes, even more than your two younger brothers.”

She became increasingly distressed as she spoke, and her eyes reddened.

“You’ve been sickly since you were little, always getting sick. I shouldn’t have stayed up all night to take care of you. I shouldn’t have given you money for your school fees and materials. I should have just given you enough to eat so you wouldn’t starve!”

"I should have brought Ye Linchen back and given her all the good things I've done for you. Now, you and she treat me like an enemy!"

Meng Xueyun wanted to say something, but choked up and couldn't continue. She just opened her mouth, covered her face, and cried.

Seeing her like this, Meng Zihan realized that she had spoken her true feelings in a fit of anger.

She couldn't let Meng Xueyun feel disheartened.

Although the factory covered the tuition fees for the sponsored students, they still had to ask the Ye family for living expenses.

Meng Zihan hurriedly struggled to sit up, ignoring the needle still in her hand, grabbed Meng Xueyun's hand, and apologized to her with tears streaming down her face.

"Auntie, it's all my fault. I was so heartbroken that I said something without thinking. Please don't take it to heart."

“I know you’ve been good to me. I know in my heart how much you’ve cared for me all these years.”

“You’re closer to me than my own mother, how could I possibly resent you?”

She reached out her other hand to wipe away Meng Xueyun's tears and said carefully, "Auntie, please don't be angry. When you're angry, I feel even worse. If you're still angry, you can hit me a few times or scold me a few times. I'll take it, as long as you don't ignore me."

She pouted, made a pitiful face, and tried to coax Meng Xueyun.

"Auntie, please don't hold it against me, okay? I promise I'll never do it again, please forgive me this time!"

Seeing her crying her eyes out, Meng Xueyun's heart softened.

She sighed, and her attitude softened.

"Alright, alright, stop crying, or your eyes will get swollen again. Your aunt raised you, how could your aunt not know what kind of person you are?"

"Auntie knows you're upset, but things have already come to this. You can only blame God for being blind and letting that ungrateful wretch get away with it."

The thought that Ye Linchen had already finished his exams and might be celebrating made her heart ache terribly.

"Why didn't it end up in her stomach!"

If she had known there was something wrong with the fish soup earlier, she would have knocked Ye Linchen unconscious and forced it into her stomach!
