Chapter 243 Part-time Tutor

Upon hearing that Ye Linchen and Li Hongying had arranged a tutoring session for tomorrow, Wang Lina brought up another matter.

"We'll be having military training next semester!"

"What? Military training? It's really starting?" Lin Xuemei asked incredulously.

When school started, we were told that there would be military training in a month, but then nothing happened.

Nobody bothered to ask, they were just hoping there would be no further activity.

It's already the end of the semester, and still no one has brought it up.

Everyone was hoping that their military training would be canceled this year, and they wouldn't have to suffer anymore.

Unexpectedly, it was moved to the next semester.

Li Hongying sighed with a bitter face, "Oh my god, we still have to do military training. I thought it had been canceled."

Wang Lina snorted coldly: "Cancel? Dream on! I've found out that the person in charge of the previous military training base was investigated, which is why the training has been delayed. That's why it's been postponed to the start of next semester."

Ye Linchen raised an eyebrow.

Su Yuqing had told her before that Zhang Tingting's father had a good relationship with the person in charge of the training base and would make things difficult for her during training. Could it be that the investigation into Zhang's father had also implicated that person in charge?

Lin Xuemei, unaware of this, comforted Li Hongying, saying, "This is fine too! The next semester will start in March, when it's neither too hot nor too cold, much better than being scorched under the sun in the middle of summer. If we can't change it, we should accept it and try to think positively."

Wang Lina, however, was not optimistic.

"What's so great about it! I heard that the military training there is extremely strict, the most arduous and tiring of all the bases, and the food is terrible, I can't even eat it, and we live in six-person dorms! I don't even know who I'll be sharing a room with."

Hearing this, Li Hongying sighed, "Zhang Tingting has been gone for so long, we'll definitely have to arrange for a new student to join our dorm next semester. I hope she's easy to get along with, otherwise life will be tough."

Lin Xuemei immediately chimed in, "Please, please don't let another Zhang Tingting or Zhou Xiaoyan appear, or our dorm will be in complete chaos."

"Absolutely, there's a good show to watch every day."

Just as they were having a lively conversation, the waiter brought up a steaming bowl of food.

"Everyone, the food is ready, please enjoy!"

The restaurant's dishes follow the typical generous style of Northeastern cuisine, with each dish piled high and generously portioned.

Moreover, the dishes taste great, with excellent color, aroma, and flavor, making them very appetizing.

"Everyone, eat up! Try it and see if it suits your taste!"

Lin Xuemei excitedly picked up her chopsticks, took a piece of sweet and sour pork, put it in her mouth, and squinted her eyes in enjoyment.

"It's so delicious! It's sweet and sour, I love this flavor!"

Wang Lina also picked up a piece of "Di San Xian" (a dish of stir-fried potatoes, eggplant, and green peppers) and ate it with relish: "This place makes really authentic Di San Xian, much better than the cafeteria's!"

Li Hongying prefers chicken stew with mushrooms; the tender chicken and the fragrant mushrooms are a perfect match.

Ye Linchen also tried a few bites, and the taste was indeed quite good. No wonder Lin Xuemei liked coming here so much.

The four chatted and ate, temporarily forgetting the pressure of exams and worries about the future, and enjoying this rare time together.

After the meal, everyone dispersed.

Since Zhou Xiaoyan had already gone home, Li Hongying and Lin Xuemei decided to move back to their dormitory.

"Xiao Chen, thank you so much for everything these past few days!" Li Hongying said gratefully to Ye Linchen as she packed her things. "If it weren't for you taking us in, we would definitely be finished this time!"

Lin Xuemei nodded repeatedly, echoing, "Yes, yes! When the results come out, if we all pass, I'll definitely treat you to a big meal!"

Ye Linchen smiled and waved her hand: "Don't be so polite, we're all good sisters, it's only right."

After hearing her words, Lin Xuemei looked around and felt a real sense of reluctance.

"Hmm, to be honest, this place is much more spacious and quieter than the dorm, and my study efficiency has improved a lot. I'm actually thinking of staying here forever."

Li Hongying wholeheartedly agreed: "Yes, Xiao Chen, you keep the room spotless every day, it's so comfortable to live in. Washing my face and brushing my teeth is just a short walk away, unlike in the dorm where I have to go outside, it's such a hassle."

She sighed, “It is truly easy to go from simplicity to luxury, but difficult to go from luxury to simplicity. The ancients were right.”

Ye Linchen found their conversation amusing and invited them, "If you want to come and stay in the future, just come over."

"Really? Then we'll stick with you!" Lin Xuemei said deliberately, a sly smile on her face.

"Great, you're welcome to come and stay," Ye Linchen replied with a smile.

Despite their reluctance, Li Hongying and Lin Xuemei left with their luggage.

After seeing the two off, Ye Linchen tidied up briefly and began preparing for his tutoring trial lesson the next day.

She found her old high school textbooks and carefully reviewed subjects such as math and physics, striving to have a clear understanding of them.

After all, you're going to be a teacher to earn money for others, so you have to take responsibility.

The next morning, Ye Linchen arrived at the gate of Jiangda University ahead of schedule.

The winter morning was bitterly cold, and the cold wind blew straight at her face. She wrapped her woolen coat tighter around herself and rubbed her stiff hands.

To make herself look more mature, she deliberately wore a long black wool coat, which wasn't as warm as a down jacket, and it was chilly standing at the front door.

"Hope everything goes well today..."

She looked up at the sky and prayed silently in her heart.

Not long after, Li Hongying came over with a tall, thin boy wearing glasses.

“Xiao Chen,” Li Hongying said with a smile, “this is Li Weizhe, my high school classmate, who is now studying Chinese Language and Literature at the School of Literature of Jiangcheng University.”

She turned to Li Weizhe and said, "This is Ye Linchen, my roommate. She's a very good student. We were able to pass the exam smoothly thanks to her."

"Hello, hello!" Li Weizhe warmly extended his hand and shook hands with Ye Linchen. "I've heard Hongying mention you before, saying you're a top student. Today I finally get to meet you in person."

Ye Linchen smiled somewhat embarrassedly: "I wouldn't dare call myself a top student, I'm just someone who studies hard."

Li Hongying continued, "Weizhe is that student's Chinese and English tutor. He will take you to the student's home this time. Feel free to ask him any questions you may have."

“No problem, I’ve got it covered!” Li Weizhe replied immediately, looking very reliable.

After a brief exchange between Ye Linchen and Li Weizhe, Li Hongying said, "It's almost time, so I won't keep you any longer. I wish you all the best!" She then pumped Ye Linchen's fist and said, "Go for it, Xiao Chen!"

"Don't worry, I'll do my best," Ye Linchen said with a smile.

After saying goodbye to Li Hongying, Li Weizhe led Ye Linchen toward the bus stop.

“The student lives in the city center, which is a bit far from here. They need to take a bus to get there,” Li Weizhe explained.

On the way, Li Weizhe began to introduce the students' general situation to Ye Linchen.
