Chapter 317 Rebirth Once Is Nothing More Than This

Ye Linchen watched quietly as Meng Zihan uttered harsh words with all her might.

She sighed almost imperceptibly.

Meng Zihan will probably never understand that there was never any real competition between them.

From beginning to end, she unilaterally regarded Ye Linchen as her imaginary enemy and wishfully wanted to compete with him.

Ye Linchen is able to live the life she has today because she decisively got rid of the heavy burden of the Ye family, stopped relying on anyone, and created a bright future for herself step by step with her own hands.

The reason why Meng Zihan had a smooth life in her previous life but encountered setbacks everywhere in this life is because she lost Ye Linchen, her "blood bag" who gave her everything, and could not find a man to rely on.

She is like a dodder vine, having lost the ability to survive independently and can only rely on a towering tree.

Once she loses something to cling to, all that awaits her is withering and death.

If Meng Zihan never learns to be independent and self-reliant, and to live by her own abilities, then this is the best time for her; her future will only be more miserable.

If Meng Zihan can't understand this, even if she were reborn a hundred times, it wouldn't make a difference.

However, Ye Linchen did not intend to tell her these things.

Meng Zihan was like a mad dog that had lost its mind; no matter what you said to her, she wouldn't listen.

Ye Linchen stared at her without flinching, his gaze calm, devoid of emotion or warmth.

Her gaze was too direct and too calm, as if she saw through Meng Zihan's bluff.

Meng Zihan was defeated, her eyes darting away, avoiding Ye Linchen's gaze. She shouted, her voice trembling with fear, "What are you looking at!"

Ye Linchen said calmly, "I'm watching a lunatic go crazy. You really need to take your medication."

These words were like a match, instantly igniting Meng Zihan's burning anger.

She let out a scream, sprang up from the ground, and started scrambling at Ye Linchen's face with both hands, determined to scratch her face and teach her a lesson!

Ye Linchen didn't even lift her eyelids. Seeing Meng Zihan's claws waving in front of her, she reached out and pushed Meng Zihan's shoulder with her palm.

Meng Zihan was thin and short, so how could she resist this force? With a "thud," she fell back to the ground in an even more disheveled manner than before.

Ye Linchen stepped forward and looked down at her.

She spoke again, her eyes filled with undisguised contempt: "Having been reborn, is this all you're capable of?"

Meng Zihan lay on the ground, propped herself up on her arms, gritted her teeth and raised her head, her hair sticking messily to her face.

"Ye Linchen, don't be so smug," she hissed hatefully, "your good days are numbered!"

"Is that so?" Ye Linchen asked casually.

"If you really had that ability, you wouldn't be lying on the ground barking like a mad dog."

"You're the mad dog, you're the mad dog, Ye Linchen, I want..."

Seeing Meng Zihan struggling to get up and still trying to throw a tantrum, Ye Linchen completely lost his patience.

Before Meng Zihan could even stand up straight, she raised her hand and slapped Meng Zihan across the face.

The sound was crisp and loud.

“I warned you last time that if you dare to come looking for me again, I’ll beat you up every time I see you. Don’t you understand?”

"Since you say you were reborn and you can't remember what I said last time, I'll tell you again. Listen carefully!"

"If you provoke me once, I'll beat you up once!"

She looked at the red mark that quickly appeared on Meng Zihan's face and smiled faintly.

"Or if you feel the cell is unfamiliar and want to go back and relive it, you can give it a try."

Then, she looked Meng Zihan up and down, making no attempt to hide her disgust.

"But given your current situation, there definitely aren't enough prison cells. We'll have to find you a ward in a mental hospital."

Ye Linchen withdrew his gaze and issued a final ultimatum: "Get out of here right now, or I'll call the police."

Meng Zihan, reborn and returned, is indeed different.

The words "call the police" did not throw her into a panic.

Instead, it was like a bucket of cold water poured over her head, waking her up.

The color slowly faded from her flushed cheeks, and the frenzied hatred in her eyes subsided.

My emotions are definitely out of control right now; I don't look like a victor with memories of a past life and the chips in my hand.

She was once an elegant and sophisticated successful woman, but now she looks terrible and is so embarrassing!

Meng Zihan braced herself against the ground and stood up unsteadily.

She didn't look at Ye Linchen, but lowered her eyes, slowly patted the dust off her body, and tucked the messy hair stuck to her cheeks behind her ears.

After doing all this, she finally raised her head and forced a stiff smile.

"Call the police?" Meng Zihan asked mockingly. "What right do you have to call the police?"

"I just came to visit my cousin and chat with her for a bit."

"Is it illegal to visit relatives these days?"

Ye Lin snorted coldly.

"I don't remember having a relative like you."

"In the dead of night, you followed me furtively."

"They blocked my doorway and started spouting nonsense at me."

"These behaviors make me feel very uncomfortable and also make me very worried about my personal safety."

"So, of course I can call the police."

"And then?" Meng Zihan spread his hands nonchalantly.

"Is it really necessary to waste everyone's time by having the police take us to the station for mediation?"

She tilted her head back, her smile growing increasingly sarcastic.

"Ye Linchen, stop trying to scare me with these childish tricks."
