Hearing Meng Zihan's cries, Ye Linchen turned around in disbelief.
Meng Zihan was sitting on the ground, looking utterly disheveled.
Her hair was disheveled, with a few strands clinging to her tear-stained cheeks.
She was wearing a fashionable thin wool dress, but the buttons on the chest were undone, revealing a white bra underneath.
Large tears rolled down Meng Zihan's face and pattered onto the ground.
She was crying so hard, her shoulders were shaking, she looked like a poor little thing who had suffered a terrible injustice.
But in her red, tear-filled eyes, there was no trace of sadness or sorrow, only the gleam of a successful conspiracy.
"Help! Someone help me!"
As Meng Zihan cried out in a hoarse voice, a barely perceptible, provocative, and triumphant smile appeared on her face as she looked towards Ye Linchen.
Ye Linchen instantly understood Meng Zihan's intention.
This is an attempt to unfairly smear Gu Yifei!
Meng Zihan's crying quickly had an effect. Two uniformed waiters ran out of the restaurant, and even passersby on the street stopped and curiously gathered around.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
"Why is this little girl sitting on the ground crying? Who bullied her?"
Before long, a small circle of people surrounded Meng Zihan, and a buzz of discussion arose.
"Young lady, what happened?" A kind-hearted middle-aged woman approached and reached out to help Meng Zihan.
Meng Zihan finally found someone to confide in, and cried even harder.
She looked up, her words broken and hesitant.
"I...I was having dinner with my friends,"
"He had too much to drink, so I kindly helped him out..."
She pointed to her torn clothes with a trembling finger.
"I never expected him... he suddenly went crazy, and came up to..."
"He was too strong, I tried to break free, but I couldn't... and then he..."
She didn't say the rest, but shook her head violently, her sobs replacing her accusations.
His grief-stricken appearance was more convincing than any words.
"Your friend is a man? How could he do this!"
"Isn't this indecent? We can't let him get away with this!"
"Don't be afraid, young lady! We'll stand up for you."
The people around her immediately began to offer their comfort.
Ye Linchen pushed aside a middle-aged man blocking his way and strode over.
"Things aren't as she said!"
Everyone turned their heads in unison, looking at her suspiciously.
Meng Zihan reacted incredibly quickly; she immediately interrupted Ye Linchen, looking at her with teary eyes.
“Cousin,” her voice was soft, but loud enough for everyone around to hear, “I know you’ve never liked me.”
“I know Yifei is your boyfriend’s younger brother. You want to please the Gu family, but you can’t use my innocence to please them!”
Meng Zihan raised her voice, her tone trembling with tears, and questioned, "I don't like him at all. I only agreed to go out to eat with him because I trusted you!"
She gave a bitter smile, tears welling up again: "I never imagined that in the end, you would be the one who harmed me!"
She looked around at the crowd, who were now completely convinced by her, and delivered the most devastating blow: "What reason do I, an innocent girl, have to risk my entire life's reputation to wrong a complete stranger?"
The crowd completely sided with her, their eyes now filled with undisguised contempt and hostility as they looked at Ye Linchen.
The male waiter who ran out of the restaurant also stood up and spoke.
He pointed at Meng Zihan and said loudly, "I just saw it. It was this girl helping a man out. The man was so drunk that he was staggering and couldn't even walk straight."
He looked around in confusion: "Where's the man? Where did he go?"
Meng Zihan immediately chimed in: "His family took him away! I had just pushed him away when he fell down, and his brother suddenly appeared out of nowhere, dragged him into the car, and drove off."
She hinted to everyone, "What a coincidence! The family arrived right after the incident. I suspect they're all in cahoots!"
She tugged at the sleeve of the older woman next to her and pleaded, "Auntie, I'm so scared... Could you... could you please call the police for me?"
Ye Linchen wanted to explain further, but the people around her didn't give her the chance.
She wanted to turn around and leave to confront Gu Jingran, but a tall man immediately blocked her way and said in an unfriendly tone, "You can't leave!"
“Yes, you might be an accomplice. You have to stay and wait for the police!” another woman chimed in.
They surrounded her, as if judging a criminal.
Looking at the faces filled with righteous indignation stirred up by the crowd, and then at Meng Zihan who was still sobbing softly and receiving comfort from everyone not far away, Ye Linchen felt the raging anger in his heart slowly subside, turning into a cold and clear state.
She stopped talking and didn't move.
Let them stay. Anyway, things aren't as Meng Zihan described. Once the police come and investigate, everything will be clear.
This incident also allowed Gu Yifei to see clearly what kind of person Meng Zihan is!
After settling the unconscious Gu Yifei in the back seat, Gu Jingran returned to the hotel.
Before I even reached the door, I saw a huge crowd gathered there, as if they were watching some big spectacle. The noise could be heard from a great distance.
Gu Jingran quickened his pace and squeezed into the crowd.
He immediately spotted Meng Zihan, who was surrounded by people with sympathy and was crying her heart out.
