Meng Zihan is not the type of person who is willing to suffer losses.
After being slapped by Zhou Shixian's daughter, Zhou Qianyue, and then cornered in the house by the thugs she brought, Meng Zihan's anger flared up instantly.
"What do you want to do!"
She struggled to get up from the ground, grabbed the ashtray beside her, and tried to smash it on Zhou Qianyue's head.
But no matter how fierce she was, she was all alone and no match for these people.
Before she could throw the ashtray away, a young man with dyed yellow hair kicked her in the stomach.
Meng Zihan groaned, arching her back like a shrimp, and the ashtray in her hand fell to the ground with a clatter, shattering into pieces.
"You dare to fight back?"
Seeing this, Zhou Qianyue became even more arrogant.
She rushed up, grabbed Meng Zihan by the hair, and slammed her head against the wall repeatedly.
"I'll teach you to seduce my dad! I'll teach you to destroy my family! You shameless vixen!"
Zhou Qianyue cursed as she rammed into the car, her voice sharp and piercing.
Meng Zihan was so shocked by the impact that she saw stars and her scalp burned.
The sounds of shattering porcelain, overturned wooden furniture, and the boisterous laughter of the men echoed through the room.
She was dragged on the ground by Zhou Qianyue like a rag doll, and fists and slaps rained down on her.
Meng Zihan was so enraged by the beating that she wanted to fight back.
Seizing the moment when Zhou Qianyue paused to catch her breath, she used all her strength to break free, spread her ten fingers, and reached out to grab Zhou Qianyue's face.
Her meticulously manicured nails, trimmed to sharp points, now became a weapon, leaving several bloody marks on Zhou Qianyue's face.
Zhou Qianyue screamed, touching the burning sensation; she was furious.
"You dare arrest me? Hold her down!"
The young men immediately surrounded her, two of them holding her arms down while the other stepped on her legs.
Meng Zihan was firmly pinned to the ground, unable to move, and could only watch helplessly as Zhou Qianyue kicked her again and again.
Pain emanated from every part of my body, dense and ubiquitous.
Gradually, she lost even the strength to struggle.
Her vision began to blur, and warm blood flowed down her forehead, blurring her vision, making everything in front of her blood red.
All she could hear was Zhou Qianyue continuing to curse and her own heavy, painful breathing.
"Stop hitting him."
Seeing Meng Zihan lying motionless on the ground with bloodstains beneath her, Huang Mao felt a chill and reached out to pull Zhou Qianyue away.
"Get out of my way!" Zhou Qianyue shoved him away and stomped hard on Meng Zihan's stomach again. "Killing her would be too good for her! My mom cries at home every day, can't eat or sleep, she's almost half dead! Why does this bitch live in such a nice house, spend my dad's money, and live so comfortably! She deserves to die!"
"That's enough!" Another tall young man came up and pulled her away. "A little lesson is enough. If you keep hitting her and someone dies, we'll all go to jail with you!"
"So what if she goes to jail? I want her dead!"
Zhou Qianyue was still angry and struggled desperately to hit Meng Zihan.
"Get the hell out of here!" the blond-haired guy yelled, suddenly enraged. "Your dad has money to get you out of here, but what about us? Our parents don't have that kind of power! Are you suggesting we risk our lives just to get revenge for you? Don't even think about it!"
The other companions, after being called out like that, also noticed Meng Zihan's situation.
Seeing Meng Zihan lying lifeless in a pool of blood, they were all terrified.
Helping to teach a mistress a lesson and vent one's anger is one thing, but if it leads to someone's death, that's another matter entirely.
They don't want to go to jail at such a young age.
"Let's go quickly, or someone will come soon!"
"Let's get out of here while the person is still alive."
Several people chimed in, trying to persuade her, and without caring whether Zhou Qianyue agreed or not, they half-pulled and half-dragged her out of the apartment while she was still cursing.
The door was wide open, and the cold wind from the hallway blew in, making Meng Zihan shiver.
As Meng Zihan listened to the footsteps of that group of people fade into the distance, the world finally quieted down.
She tried to get up and go to the door for help, but her body felt like it was falling apart and she couldn't muster any strength at all.
She only moved her finger slightly, but it caused excruciating pain all over her body. Her vision went black, and she lost consciousness completely.
After some time, I heard the sound of neighbors chatting in the hallway.
Aunt Wang, who lives across the hall, was carrying groceries home when she caught a glimpse of Meng Zihan's wide-open door.
Aunt Wang couldn't help but mutter, "Why isn't the door locked during the New Year? Is anyone even home?"
"Miss Meng? Are you home?"
Aunt Wang stood at the door and tentatively called out inside, but the house was quiet.
Aunt Wang felt a little strange when she didn't receive a response.
She remembered that a young and pretty girl lived in this house. She seemed to be from out of town. Although she wasn't close to them, they would occasionally greet each other when they bumped into each other.
Aunt Wang curiously approached the doorway and peeked inside.
This sight terrified Aunt Wang so much that she dropped the eggs and vegetables she was holding onto the ground with a "crash".
The house looked like it had been robbed; things were smashed to pieces. Meng Zihan lay motionless amidst the chaos, covered in blood.
"Oh my god! Murder!" Aunt Wang screamed in fright.
She rushed back into the house, trembling, and was about to call the police.
She was so scared that her hands were shaking so badly she couldn't even press the numbers correctly. It took her a long time to finally dial the police and emergency services.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene quickly. When Meng Zihan was lifted onto a stretcher, she had already completely lost consciousness.
She didn't wake up until two days later.
She found herself lying in the intensive care unit, her body covered in tubes, with the monotonous beeping of the machines in her ears.
Meng Zihan moved slightly and immediately gasped in pain.
The nurse came in, saw that she was awake, and checked the equipment while telling her what was wrong.
"You have two broken ribs, a mild concussion, and multiple soft tissue contusions. You'll need to stay in the intensive care unit for a while. Do you have any relatives here? Please contact them to pay the bills. You owe a lot of medical expenses, and if you don't pay, we'll have to stop your medication."
Meng Zihan lay in bed, her heart feeling icy cold.
How much does it cost to stay in the intensive care unit for a day?
She didn't even dare to think about it.
Since she returned from Jiangcheng, Zhou Shixian has been giving her less and less living expenses. She had barely managed to save a little money, and now she was afraid it would all be thrown into the bottomless pit of the hospital.
Another day passed, and two policemen entered the ward.
"Meng Zihan, right? Let's find out what happened. Do you know who hit you?"
