Shen Yanlin did not appear until the school bell rang.
Ye Linchen thought the talk about the study group was just something he said casually and didn't take it seriously, so he packed his bag and prepared to go home.
Meng Zihan turned her head and looked around, then stood up from her seat and walked over to Ye Linchen.
She leaned closer to Ye Linchen and asked sarcastically.
"Shen Yanlin didn't come, did he? I knew it. How could he possibly think highly of you and form a study group with you?"
Ye Linchen stopped what he was doing and looked at her coldly: "What's it to you?"
“It really has nothing to do with me. I was just trying to be helpful. He was just teasing you!” She raised her chin and glanced at Ye Linchen with disdain. “Only someone like you, from the countryside, who has never seen the world, would be so eager to get involved and take this seriously.”
Meng Zihan scoffed: "You complained about my grades and didn't want me to join, but what happened? You made a fool of yourself!"
Ye Linchen smiled nonchalantly and put the books and pencil case into his schoolbag.
"I have no dirty thoughts, I haven't done anything shameful, so what's there to be ashamed of?"
Meng Zihan's expression changed when her secret was exposed.
Enraged, she retorted, "You! Who are you saying has dirty thoughts? Who are you saying does shameful things?"
"Whoever has it, just say it. Don't take it personally!"
Meng Zihan was good at playing the pitiful victim, but she didn't have much of an advantage when it came to arguing with people. For a moment, she blinked her eyes, unsure of how to respond.
He could only stomp his foot and angrily return to his seat.
Ye Linchen had just zipped up his backpack and was about to call Feng Linlin to leave the classroom when he saw Shen Yanlin swinging his long legs as he came in through the back door.
He held a workbook rolled up into a cylinder and tapped it on Ye Linchen's desk: "What? Studying so hard, you don't want to leave school?"
Ye Linchen frowned as he looked at his carefree new deskmate.
They're nowhere to be seen during class, but they're at school after class?
This Shen Yanlin is indeed extraordinary.
Ye Linchen said honestly, "I thought you weren't coming."
"Do I look like the kind of person who doesn't keep his word?" Shen Yanlin raised an eyebrow with a half-smile.
They look quite similar.
Ye Linchen silently complained in his heart.
Just then, Feng Linlin, who was packing her schoolbag, saw the two of them and immediately rushed over from her seat.
She stood in front of Ye Linchen and warned Shen Yanlin, "Shen Yanlin, don't bully Ye Linchen!"
Seeing that she looked like a fighting rooster with its feathers standing on end, Ye Linchen quickly explained.
"No, he didn't bully me. We agreed to study together, form a study group, and tutor each other."
Upon hearing this, Feng Linlin immediately became interested.
"After-school study groups?"
"That's a great idea! I want to join too! And Lin Xiaojuan, she's really good at chemistry and biology, we can study together."
Ye Linchen: "Of course."
Shen Yanlin shrugged indifferently: "I have no objection."
Feng Linlin happily said, "Then let's agree on that!"
She turned and waved to Lin Xiaojuan: "Xiaojuan, how about it? Want to come along?"
Lin Xiaojuan ran over with her schoolbag on her back and said happily, "Okay, my English isn't good, you guys have to help me."
Feng Linlin made the final decision: "Okay! The four-person study group is officially formed!"
With that, she officially announced the formation of the study group!
After the study group members were finalized, the four of them huddled together, chattering away about where to study.
"Let's go to my place!" Feng Linlin enthusiastically suggested. "My place is spacious with lots of rooms!"
Lin Xiaojuan shook her head: "Forget it, your parents are home, don't bother them."
"How about we go to my house?" Lin Xiaojuan suggested, but then immediately rejected the idea. "No, no, my grandma hasn't been feeling well lately and needs to rest. If we study, it will definitely disturb her."
The two of them talked back and forth, neither able to make up their minds, and finally both looked at Shen Yanlin.
Shen Yanlin slowly said, "Anywhere but my home is fine."
He lifted his eyelids, glanced at Ye Linchen, and then made another request.
"It's best to keep quiet."
Ye Linchen suggested, "Then let's go to my place. I live alone. It's not a big place, but it won't bother anyone."
“Sure! I’ll come visit your place!” Feng Linlin immediately perked up at the suggestion.
Lin Xiaojuan nodded in agreement: "I have no objection."
The matter was settled. Ye Linchen took out a pen and paper, wrote down the address for Shen Yanlin, and arranged to go to her house together after dinner.
The four of them left the classroom chatting and laughing. Meng Zihan sat in her seat, watching their departing figures, trembling with anger.
She bit her lower lip so hard it almost bled.
Unexpectedly, Shen Yanlin came back and took the initiative to find Ye Linchen, wanting to team up with her to study!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and she couldn't hold back her anger.
She snapped, "What did Shen Yanlin see in that country bumpkin? His good grades? His good looks? Or his ability to play the victim?"
At this moment, Gu Yifei came over and asked with concern, "Zihan, what's wrong? Why are you unhappy?"
Meng Zihan's eyes reddened, and she said aggrievedly, "My sister formed a study group with other people and wouldn't accept me."
Gu Yifei quickly said, "You know she's an ingrate, why bother with her?"

Xiaohan is too kind; she didn't complain even though Ye Linchen bullied her like that.
