Ye Zhenghua was very efficient. Ye Linchen had just finished taking inventory of the clothes when he returned with fried dough sticks and soy milk.
The fried dough sticks were golden brown, crispy and fluffy, each one as thick as her wrist, and the aroma of oil wafted over from afar.
Ye Linchen didn't stand on ceremony. Ignoring Meng Xueyun's murderous glare, he ate two fried dough sticks and a bowl of soy milk with gusto before finally putting down his chopsticks with satisfaction.
So delicious!
This place really knows how to fry dough sticks; no wonder their business is always booming.
Right now, it's just a small stall downstairs, but in a couple of years, it will grow bigger and bigger, and we'll rent a shop outside the dormitory area to open a snack shop.
Meng Xueyun was so angry that her face almost turned green.
I only bought eight fried dough sticks in total, and this brat ate two of them.
Eat in front of others and then behind them; only put down your chopsticks after everyone has finished eating.
It's like a starving ghost reincarnated!
Seeing Ye Linchen stand up to leave, Meng Xueyun could no longer hold back and spoke angrily.
"Where are you going? Don't you have any sense? You don't contribute any money or effort at home, do you expect us to serve you? Go wash the dishes!"
Ye Linchen glanced at the twins laughing and playing in her room, then at Meng Zihan who had nothing to do beside her, and finally held back, saying nothing.
She quickly cleared the table and washed the dishes.
After washing the dishes, Ye Linchen dried his hands and said to Ye Zhenghua, who was reading the newspaper in the living room, "Dad, I want to go out for a walk and see the school."
Meng Xueyun immediately objected: "Why are you turning around? We have a ton of things to do at home!"
Ye Zhenghua gave Meng Xueyun a warning look, then nodded to Ye Linchen: "Go ahead, come back early, I'll be waiting for you for lunch."
Ye Linchen naturally listened to Ye Zhenghua's words, went back to his room to tidy up, greeted everyone politely, and then opened the door to go out.
After Ye Linchen left, Ye Zhenghua's face darkened, and he lashed out at Meng Xueyun.
"Are you ever going to stop? You haven't said a single nice thing since the child came back. Do you really think we're all blind and can't see through this?"
Meng Xueyun, however, did not buy into his argument.
"What did I do wrong? All I did was ask her to help with some housework, isn't that a given?"
"Can't you talk things out properly about housework? She just got back, can't you let her rest for a couple of days? Why are you in such a rush?" Ye Zhenghua knew his wife's stubbornness was flaring up again, and not wanting to argue with her, he softened his tone, "You've already told her not to study and to help out at home. What's wrong with letting her rest for a couple of days and catch her breath?"
Meng Zihan had wanted to find a place to hide when she saw her aunt and uncle arguing, but she was shocked when she heard Ye Zhenghua say that.
Ye Linchen has stopped studying?
Why?
She immediately pressed on, "Auntie, is my eldest sister really not going to school anymore?"
Meng Xueyun gave a cold snort, clearly annoyed.
"With her grades, it's a waste of her time to study; she might not even get a high school diploma! Where would her family get so much money to let her waste it!"
She turned to Meng Zihan, her tone softening.
"Xiaohan, I'll contact Teacher Song in a couple of days to give you extra lessons. You need to work harder and get into a good university. The hopes of the entire Meng family are pinned on you!"
Meng Zihan nodded obediently: "I understand, Auntie."
As she spoke, she glanced hesitantly at the living room and then at the sofa.
"Auntie, where am I studying? My older sister is using my room." She pouted again, complaining pitifully, "I can't sleep well at night either; I wake up at the slightest noise."
Meng Xueyun was heartbroken.
This child has been in poor health since childhood, and his parents are not around. If it weren't for her taking such good care of him, who knows what would have happened to him.
We are now in the final sprint stage of the college entrance examination, and we absolutely cannot afford any more mistakes!
She made a decision immediately.
Ye Linchen needs to move out!
She's still too inexperienced to think she can do whatever she wants in this house!
"Go back to your room and study. With your aunt here, let's see who dares to say anything!"
Meng Zihan looked at Ye Linchen's room and shook her head.
"But that's my eldest sister's room. Yesterday, when you were tidying up her things, she got upset and said that you couldn't touch her things without her permission. If I go in again..."
Meng Xueyun's temper flared up again, and she took two steps to open the door.
"Go ahead and try, let's see what she has to say! I'll make her move out tonight, and this house is yours!"
Meng Zihan smiled sweetly and nodded gently: "I understand."
"Study hard, don't be afraid, I'll take care of everything. This year, you have to get into a good university, no matter what, and make us proud!"
Meng Zihan picked up her study materials and sat back down at her desk, but she couldn't concentrate on reading.
When it comes to studying, Meng Zihan has a lot of grievances to vent.
From childhood to adulthood, she has always been a good child in the eyes of her parents and teachers.
She has excellent grades, is beautiful, and is popular.
She always won by a large margin in every class officer election, enjoying immense prestige.
However, her studies began to decline after she started learning physics in the second year of junior high school.
The formulas and theorems of physics were like a book written in heaven; she simply couldn't understand them.
When she entered the third year of junior high school, the addition of chemistry caused her even more headaches.
She couldn't memorize any of the various chemical equations and experimental procedures no matter how hard she tried.
Fortunately, thanks to her honorary titles such as "District Outstanding Student" and "District Outstanding Cadre," she was admitted to the elite class of the affiliated high school without having to take the high school entrance examination.
When she chooses between arts and sciences in her second year of high school, she should choose arts based on her situation.
However, in order to be in the same class as Gu Yifei, she resolutely chose science.
The Ye family also supported her choice.
In everyone's eyes, science majors have better future prospects and a wider range of job options after graduation.
But this choice turned into a nightmare for her.
Physics and chemistry seemed to be her sworn enemies from a past life; no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't understand them. In addition, her mind was entirely focused on Gu Yifei, which dragged down her other studies as well.
